Arranged marriages are what is Islamically allowed, in Islam you’re not allowed to go mingle with the opposite sex and form your own relationships without the family as an umbrella.
@mominazafar35347 жыл бұрын
Zainab Mirza you are right but it is also alright to go propose someone you like in an appropriate manner and approach their family for consent. Arranged marriage is not just followed by muslims of South Asia. I have seen this practice among Hindus too.

I hate that she said "Muslim parents tend to arrange marriages" NO, that is only South Asian cultures that do this sort of weird racist ish and marry to cousins back home. South Asian culture is very distinct in that the family/parents basically control their kids' destiny especially in marriage - and that's for Muslim and non-Muslim South Asians. Us African Muslims never do this weird stuff and are much more open minded
@Navi-yf4tb7 жыл бұрын
isnt that hypocrisy? like being racist to south asians?
@lisa_squared7 жыл бұрын
Many Arabs do it too, especially Saudis. I'm African and grew up Muslim too, my community doesn't do arranged marriages but they do pressure people in a way. It's not unheard of for people to marry their first cousins too, but I always assume that's something we picked up from Saudis lol
@alaweeezy7 жыл бұрын
racist? this is just a description of their cultural traditions - arranged marriages and in-family marriages are a part of the cultural practice of south asians - whether you like it or not. just cuz it can be bad doesn't mean calling it out is racist...
@alaweeezy7 жыл бұрын
oh and south asians are notoriously racist - calling out a racist does not make one racist.
