That is a Mekong giant catfish, a large, herbivorous catfish native to the Mekong river watershed. With over 80% of their population since 1990 gone, this already rare fish is on the brink of extinction due to overfishing, habitat lose and pollution. Well I do believe it is terribly sad to see such a rare and magnificent animal killed, I find it even sadder how we live in a world where people are forced to do whatever they possibly can just to feed themselves, well there are people who have more money than what could be spent in a hundred lifetimes.

not a shame at all remember that fish likely ate hundreds maybe thousands of fish in its lifetime thereby denying the fish it ate the opportunity to reproduce multiple times in its life span taking larger fish is actually beneficial as it gives other a fish a better survival rate lastly that guy is very likely not a trophy fisherman or even just fishing for fun this guy probably has to fish hunt and farm to survive and maybe even works a job remember the third world countrys dont make the kind of money we americans do that man probably makes less than 50 dollars us every month

When I go fishing and I catch huge bull red and huge drums etc. I release em cuz they so big and they’ve been living for so long. So I release cuz why take em and stop em from going. And they will benefit the water by laying and spreading their eggs. And the meat ain’t the best on the bigger ones anyway cuz they normally have worms.

Have you ever truly been hungry or starving? This river is in Thailand, this fish will feed a small village or family for many meals, possibly several weeks-months for just 1 family but you’re more worried about it’s feelings or comparing it to a human being kidnapped from their own home, just how dumb can you be? This size fish EATS up a lot of the smaller fish in the river, now those fish can grow and have babies, it’s called the circle of life as God intended. God made us omnivores for a reason and not just plant eaters. God made hundreds of animals for man to eat and sustain us. God made dogs and cats to be our companions and not to be eaten and Jesus fed scores of people FISH in biblical times. If you want to complain about something then complain about Dogs being trapped and raised for the meat trade in Asia, now that’s pretty sick and something you can feel sorry for, smdh…

All people talking about throwing it back, why dont you go living in these countries where people have to do this to survive and then talk about throwing it back. Theres no supermarket, this is how the family, even the whole village will eat tonight.

Everyone is saying it's the circle of life. it's what these villages do, and it is how life works. Are the same people who cry the loudest when an animal goes extinct due to human involvement. 🤔😅

What are you going to do with it. Just a few small 🐟 Fish would be fine with me. You are going to need a Chainsaw and some Garbage bags a large freezer. That's too much damn work. 💩

It is utter cruelty a big fish dragging it with a hook in its mouth ,how painful for the animal ,it is a extreme torture . Can't watch it any more ,my back is getting cold with uneasiness.

So damn fucked up! One day I’d love to see the same thing be done to humans that is done to animals. Just so we can see how it feels. Disgusted by this video and ppl in general.

Man it sucks to kill the big giant fish, those are supposed to be released so they can keep population going. No wonder its getting rare to catch big giants and all we see are normal sized or under.
