If Ukraine joins NATO, Putin loses a huge part of his dream to recreate the former Soviet map. He needs to seize Ukraine in order to retake Poland, Czechoslovakia and the other Slavic nations. Just like he did with Romania, Hungry and is trying to do in Serbia after seizing Crimea, by promoting division among their populations and inciting civil unrest, then installing his puppet dictatorships, like the Orban regime. NATO didn't invade and seize half of Ukraine and didn't conduct an insurgency and a massive military presence on the Ukrainian border while simultaneously threatening to invade. Russia did. There was no NATO military on Ukraine's border prior to the Russian deployment.. To try and claim NATO is the aggressor and Russia is the victim being picked on by the western meanies, is some gran mal cognitive dissonance. Is NATO the reason they seized Georgia too? And I suppose their occupation of Syria was to protect the Assad regime from NATO and had nothing to do with saving Assad from being overthrown by the Syrian people, making Assad a Russian puppet dictator and giving them the strategic presence in the middle east they've wanted since the 50's, right?
