@@catalyst455 lesbian in this case doesn't refer to the sexual side of attraction, but the romantic side. Like you can be a straight (romantic) asexual. Lesbian slang from the 80's according to a tumblr textpost: "Bambi lesbians" was a term for ace wlw I believe Edit: it became used for laces (new word I've learned thanks to ReidArt but is used for wlw who prefer cuddling and nonsexual interaction ⊂(•‿•⊂ )*.✧

technically it was for lesbians that prefer non-sexual intimacy over sex, such as cuddling, but yeah a lot of ace lesbians (Laces!) picked it up and really identified with it, so it's kinda tilted meaning a little bit to aim towards aspec wlw but its still a primarily diverse lesbian term, non-ace lesbians also use it a fair amount

@lisahogholt97134 жыл бұрын
@@disfuncionexe Hi! It's been a while since you asked this so you probably either know already or have lost interest. Anyhow. Just as a quick note, since it's always useful to know more. "wlw", meaning "women loving women", is slang that is used to refer to all women who are attracted to women, be they lesbians, bisexuals, pansexuals, etc. The male equivalent is "mlm". There are also non-binary versions (nblw, nblm) but if you didn't know about wlw I'm afraid I'm just piling up stuff you don't understand. (I'd suggest learning more about gender non conforming people though, they're an important part of the LGBT+ community). Laces, I assume, comes from the combination of the words "lesbian" and "ace" (shortened version of asexual). As people have explained earlier in this thread, it's used to refer to women who are attracted to / want relationships with other women, but who prefer cuddling and other forms of intimacy over sex. So maybe not fully asexual, but less enthusiastic about sex than the average person. Hope this was helpful :)

Ace is shorthand for asexual people! The big asexual stereotypes are: Would rather eat cake than have sex Love dragons Makes way too many puns for their own good (or the good of those around them) We also enjoy making jokes about things that start with the letter A being an asexual symbol (axolotls, etc.) Oh! also the ace cards in a deck of playing cards each have meaning as far as identification and labels Ace of Spades - Asexual Aromantic Ace of Hearts - Asexual with romantic attraction Ace of Clubs - Gray Asexuals (or "Graces") or Grayromantic Asexuals Ace of Diamonds - Demi-Aces or Demiromantic Aces Also Also, "Asexy" is a term coined by the ace community which we use to describe things which we like (sometimes people, but usually objects just because it's funny) ex: "I like your pillow" ---> "That pillow is asexy" | ""I find this person aesthetically attractive" ---> "That person is asexy"

14:08 here's some a stuff that's not really slang but still neat to know: generally, a black ring on the right middle finger is used by asexuals to identify them as asexual

Ya know. When I saw the shirt I thought "Oh look! Someone else trying to cash in on pride for monetary gain!" But you made 100% of the proceeds go to something that actually helped. Thank you for doing that. Even if you said 50% I would of been cool with it, but really. Good on you for actually making a difference.

A term in the trans community is "the button" which is a term for the hypothetical button for people questioning if they are trans. The button question goes as follows: if you had a button that would immediately swap your gender (technically what is meant by gender is actually sex), would you press it? Modifiers are often added on to the button question, such as "you can change back/you can't change back", "everyone who knows you will always remember you as your new gender", "you'd look attractive/you'll look how you'd like", or "you can customize what specific sex characteristics you have and aren't just limited to one of the two genders." These modifiers are often things which hold people back from realizing that they're trans, and this hypothetical can help them find themselves. Admittedly, it's not perfect, especially for non-binary people, though oftentimes just realizing that you're trans can be easier than realizing that you're non-binary.

Also I'd love to give you more info on bisexual slang! We make up approx 50% of the LGBTQI+ community, though you'd never know it. We're too queer for the straight community and too straight for a lot of the gay and lesbian community. I've been out for 27 years and things have changed massively overall for the LGBTQI+ community. But for those of us who aren't monosexual the same prejudices and biases are still very much apparent. Marrying a man, although one who is also bisexual themselves, means we're made extremely unwelcome in queer spaces, gay bars etc. But in nominally straight bars, pubs and around the community it feels like we have no option but to keep quiet about our sexuality, even with family and friends. At least my husband's family and friends anyway, I got outed and queer-bashed at school in Yorkshire at age 13, then outed and queer-bashed again at my new school 6 weeks later when word spread across the several small towns between the schools. That experience didn't stop me from being bisexual, in fact it's a big part of why I'm an advocate for the community in my own city and online. Being Autistic makes hiding pretty much anything about myself a massive issue, though with decades of practice I improved my ability to keep my trap shut when absolutely necessary. I hope you do another video like this next year for Pride too!
