Thank you so much for your videos. I’ve been trying to teach myself how to work with glass. I never even touched a torch until three weeks ago. And once I did, it was just making beads to see hoe the glass flows and how the torch works. But I came across your hummingbird video, so I tried it. I was shocked, my first time trying to sculpt anything and it came out beautiful, thanks to your video. In all the years I’ve been coming to KZbin to look at videos, I’ve never subscribed to a channel, until now. You have no idea how much making that little hummingbird helped my confidence, in a hobby that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue pursuing or not. Sometimes it gets a little frustrating when there’s no one to teach you and no one to ask. So thank you, I appreciate your videos more than you could possibly imagine!

Jill, for some reason I haven't been receiving notifications when people comment. Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your kind comments. I'm glad my video helped and that you had the courage to try. That says a lot about you. I'd love to see a picture of your hummingbird. You can email it to studio@expressiveglass.com. Keep at it. There's so much to learn and explore. I find working with glass is magical. BTW, I offer Virtual Coaching where I coach students one-on-one using Skype. You can find information on my website: expressiveglass.com

You’re welcome, Jon. Working with glass is magical. Please take care to start off safely. As you probably know, there’s more to melting glass safely than setting up a torch. Best of luck. It can become an obsession. 😀

Well, I'll be darned. I just watched this again and learned something new. Guess after you attached the stem you didn't need to keep heating the join? So, is this a boro flower then? Hmmmm At any rate you make it look easy - Ha. You've done your practice, practice, practice that's for sure. I love your glass sculptures so much.

Babette, for some reason I haven't been receiving notifications when people comment. Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your kind comments. This is a soft glass flower, as is most of my work. When you sculpt Venetian style, you don't use insurance heat the same way you do when doing beads, for example. Once I connected the pieces, I'd run a greater risk trying to keep them and everything else warm at the same time. It takes a bit getting used to it, but it's lots of fun.

great video, I'm just learing to blow glass
@VickiSchneider5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Sheila. This video shows how to blow soft glass. Are you blowing soft or Boro? Boro workers don’t use metal pipes like I’m showing, but I’m sure you know that.
