I like how the highlights don't show all the horrendous decisions in game 2...This needs to be looked into and addressed! Referees cannot get away with it, just as much as the players can't get away with certain movemets/behaviours. It was shocking!!

A stroke to Gawad how on earth ref's....Justice.....
@stevehughes15107 ай бұрын
That absurd stroke decision at 4:30 is just ridiculous, god help the game with stupidity from the video referee like that, Asal's shot was simply too good with Gawad well out of position to get anywhere near it, Asal played the ball and it was Gawad's job to get it, he had no way, leg or no leg from Asal, just too good a shot. Pleased to see he won handsomely in the end on that basis. Well played both men with the referee needing to take a course in commonsense.
@patrickh50927 ай бұрын
so why block ...what about the racket grabs, and all the other leg movements for the past few years which he's been rightfully suspended for. just play clean... not hard. why does every other pro player have a problem with Asal. he's got better but still he needs to cut this crap out. stroke is harsh, but PSA have put all their eggs in 1 basket.
@stevehughes15107 ай бұрын
@@patrickh5092 I'd agree with you about Asal up to this year, then he cleaned up his act(James Willstrop has seen to that I'd say, however the final point of the British Open last week with Farag should have been played again by the referee, there was interference by Asal on that occasion). This match, which is not shown here in its entirety, displayed very biased and bad refereeing all the way through, not good for the game of squash at all.
@1985abhishekson7 ай бұрын
Asal has improved a lot in his demeanor after his short suspension/ban. I think that referring was unfair against Asal which is why Gawad didn't fight that hard for the third game.

Absolutely the correct decision against Asal at end of 2nd game. Sticking his leg straight into his opponent's path. He has zero interest in affording his opponent fair access. I think the matchball at game 2 should have been a let, but to say Gawad gifted him the third game because of the second game decision is really cheapening the win and Gawad as a professsional. Gawad looked very unhappy at the end of the match, obviously because he couldn't follow up with the quality of the second game (for whatever reason).
@chrisjones12777 ай бұрын
@squashtv all of your Asal highlights games only ever show "highlights" of Asal winners. Why ? Gawad played amazingly in that game too - why cant we see some of his winners ? Who's editing this ?

@fhussain447 ай бұрын
Any player who moves correctly, efficiently, always take a step backwards to the centre after hitting his shot, they can't hit and freeze or stop suddenly. In that video Gawad played a bad shot on the centre of court, Mostafa very accurately punished him and played a wonderful kill straight shot, very far from him, and take a step backwards to control the centre as naturally as it should be, there's no wrong or shame on that, instead it's the mistake of Gawad who played his shot on the middle and give that chance to Mostafa.

That last call should of been a no let 😂
@Rob_Go-Go_Groovy7 ай бұрын
The PSA’s continual punishment of Asal for past behaviors is downright shameful. That stroke call at the end of game 2…sure, when you slow it down, you can find something fishy if you’re looking for it. But news flash, if you slow down ANY of the pro players’ movement, you’d find the same exact nefarious movements - if not more so. On the converse side, when a player playing Asal hits a somewhat similar winning shot, it’s an automatic no-let with the rational being, “Mr Asal, you went the wrong way first…” or “It was a winning shot”. Lastly, what’s really disgusting is the opposing players who absolutely have no shame in fishing for these types of calls. Too often, you see Asal opponents purposely camp behind him on loose shots they’ve hit, often times well behind the service box, create the contact themselves by running into the back of or clipping Asal to try to sway the decision. Gawad, who I respect immensely, knew he had zero chance of retrieving that ball at the end of game 2. He went the wrong way, the shot was too good, and the contact was minimal. Pathetic to ask for a decision there.

@rajeevam37 ай бұрын
when you cheat the opponent gets offended and then you can win against them very nice trick from Asal mess the opponent with dirty trick and then win - today's squash standard, cheat few times to hurt the opponent mentally and then take advantage no need to be a true sportsman :)

When I first saw the point at the end of the 2nd game, it look clean. But, when it was played back in slow-mo a few times you can see that Asal moves his right foot back and into Gawad's path. Really a subtle yet dirty movement. He has the skill set to beat anyone, but resorts to this stuff....

@TheN00bPolice7 ай бұрын
Still kicking his back leg out I see. You can see how he still does this cheating movement routinely at 0:49 and also at 1:10 and the very next shot after - there’s countless other examples. Even though there wasn’t a decision required at those times, the point is that HE’S STILL DOING IT. The idea that he spent a few months with a fair player as coach and all of a sudden that fixes 15+ years of learned habit is laughable. The stroke was a good decision, not because it was the right one (Gawad wouldn’t have got the ball anyway), but because they need to punish this crap every single time.
@gmaq13157 ай бұрын
Ridiculous decision on that stroke. It was a clear winner and with such a great shot there was no reason for Asal to create 'interference'. You need your back leg to recover from the lunging movement.
