I love Frank! It sends a chill up my spine because they use this song at the end of Joker.

I remembered watching the joker and hearing this song while he does some dark deeds at the end, nice touch and nice ending to the movie. I love it.

The best Ray Charles song that Ray never recorded.

Ray Charles would have delivered a great performance as well if he performed this song. 🙂

Frank Sinatra's delivery on this recording was not his style or the style of the 1960's; it was meant to be a frank, no-nonsense piece of telling it like it is for a survivor. But the comical line at the end, is to remind us that, no matter what we learn about surviving, the next bout of blues will floor us overwhelmingly. From there, we may take a moment before remembering that, within a relatively short amount of time, we'll pick ourselves us and get back in the game. The song is our common experience, but with that practical advice that we arrive at when we're patient and recall the wisdom of dealing with the "ups-and-downs" of life.

Frank here is paying homage to Ray Charles with a bit of Sammy Davis thrown in. Sounds that way to me. Nice 'n' trashy!
