【That's Not How The Story Goes | COMPLETE 72H Mapleshade's Vengeance MAP】

This MAP Is about Mapleshade telling her story, aka "Mapleshade's Vengeance", to Crookedstar. She paints herself as nothing but an unfortunate victim and her murders as more than justified revenge, but, as the spirits say, that's not how the story goes. Mapleshade is slowly shown to be the least innocent out of everyone, even before she went on a murder spree, she lied to a grieving family and never cared even once that her clan had the right to be angry at her for lying in general, not even apologize for it once. She goes on to accidentally kill her kits and then KILL cats who barely had anything to do with it, even attempting to murder a pregnant cat who's never met her kits alive, then goes as far as swearing torture on Appledusk's innocent kin. Mapleshade went through horrible things, but even if you suffer greatly, at the end of the day it’s your choice to be a good person or not and Mapleshade proved to never have been one. Crookedstar lost everything, just as she did, but instead of starting a murder spree he dealt with his problems constructively. Mapleshade is not a tragic cat who was turned evil by some awful, disgusting actions of others, she /chose/ to be evil and no amount of her sad backstory will ever make her truly sympathetic. At the end, Crookedstar finally fully abandons Mapleshade after being abused by her for so long and goes on to wonder how the cats she killed so many moons ago are doing now.

This Map turned out wonderful! If you think about it this song really does fit Mapleshades Vengeance, because no one in that book had a happy ending. Mapleshade's kits had their life cut short, Oakstar lost another child, Reedshine has to raise her kits on her own, Appledusks kin will be haunted by Mapleshade forever, the Dark Forest got a strong new member (Mapleshade goes on to manipulate and train a lot of cats there, which is bad for the clans and those Cats she trained) Everyone was doomed the moment Mapleshade choose to take the river, she lost it and we all know what happened next. (We all know those cries she heard probably weren't real)

She did, but not in a way that the map shows. In the map Reedshine is playing with flowers and Mapleshade comes from behind to atack her. In the books Mapleshade takes Appeldusk's apprentice and Appeldusk looks for him and finds Mapleshade. Mapleshade plans to atack him, but Reedshine comes and Mapleshade blinded by fury atacks her. Appeldusk stops her, she kills him and is killed by his apprentice. (Sorry for mistakes english isn't my first language)

Here’s my comment- you can justify her novella all you want, but what she did to Crookedstar? Taking advantage of an abandoned child, convincing him all the deaths in his life were his fault, and almost taking him away from (the admittedly flawed but still better) kitty heaven for a ridiculous revenge plot on his great grandfather? You can’t justify that. (Not to mention it undermines the whole ‘avenging my kits for being killed by circumstance and unfair punishment to them’ narrative)

@Selena Lulamoon Even if they did, it wouldn’t be canon. The author’s don’t hold control over the series- the publishing firm tells them what to write. That’s part of how Dovewing’s eyes got so weird. Some books they had to write blue, some book they had to write green.

The reason that I like Mapleshade is because she is one of the tragic villains, but she chose to be a villain. She could spend the rest of her life on the barn with her kits, for example, but she decided to do revenge to her own mind ( the kits were DEFINITELY her sanity just dropping ). And the fact that it was tragic does not make of what she did. She still killed cats, and in fact, the cause of her death was herself. This map shows that she is not innocent, she is just a killer, and no matter what label you put on it, she did what she did

I like Mapleshade because she isn’t a villain to be a villain, she actually has a reason to be a villain. Like you said it well she CHOSE to be one. She could’ve easily lived a good life. But no she wanted to avenge her kittens, like a mother. She brought this upon herself, yet she remains convinced that they are in the wrong. I’m not justifying her actions, because they aren’t but she has a motive.

This map compared to the other one shows something a lot of Mapleshade sympathizers seem to forget. The events in Mapleshade's vengeance are entirely told from her thoughts. Sure Oakstar shouldn't have kicked out young cats but he was more hurt about the lies and as a grieving man does, he wanted them gone. He didn't send them to die, Mapleshade decided to take the flooded river on. Frecklewish couldn't have saved Mapleshade's kits, she didn't know how to swim and was fear paralyzed. Sure she could have warned Mapleshade not to, but Mapleshade wouldn't have listened. Ravenwing had a duty to tell his leader, especially AFTER Mapleshade straight up told him. Darkstar kept Mapleshade out to protect her clan. She knew Thunderclan exile in it could cause more unnecessary deaths in battle. Appledusk was an *ssh*l* though, he cheated on his mate. And he scoffed at Birchface trying to save Petalpaw. But Mapleshade knew this, she knew what she was getting into. At least in the end he died protecting his mate, who did nothing wrong but fall in love with him.

I don’t forget any of this. It doesn’t change the fact I feel sorry for her. She lost everything! She started seeing her dead kits telling her to kill to free them, who wouldn’t want to free their kids?? She was mentally ill. Not everything she did was 100% her fault as she was stricken with grief, anger, and many other things such as mental illness and being unable to think clearly. As she wasn’t thinking straight I don’t blame her for crossing, she wasn’t thinking, only trying to get her kits to a safe place and if thunderclan found her in their camp she’d pay the price. I honestly find some others far worse than her in her tale! Like oakstar or appledusk, both were jerks. Oakstar wasn’t a good leader, he made poor decisions like who banishes kits and doesn’t try to at least make sure they make it somewhere safe??

Mental_Static Even if Mapleshade didn't cross the river, the kits could still die. They were wild animals that could easily killed them. Also Mapleshade lived her whole life as a clan cat it would be hard for her to now live as a loner with three kits. I'm not justifaing what she did, but it's not like Oakstar was innocent. Though that doesn’t justify what her leader did. Exiling Mapleshade sure but not her few month old kittens. honestly i don’t think that mapleshade was actually all that upset about her kids dying. she used the fact that she was pregnant so that appledusk would choose her over his actual mate, who he actually loved. not mapleshade. mapleshade was the villain all along, she was manipulative and a plain awful person/cat. yeah appledusk cheated but that’s nothing compared to what she had done. it was mapleshade’s own fault for her kits deaths. tbh i think she used their deaths as an excuse to kill people, and they didn’t deserve that. you can argue about her hallucinations but i think that they really were just hallucinations and her trying to convince herself that she was in the right, as well as the readers. and she succeeded.

I love the way this turned out, everyone put so much effort into their parts, and the credits are absolutely gorgeous. I love this map not only for it's incredible visuals, but the fact that its a direct 'fuck you' to Nate. They did the entire warriors fandom dirty, and they will not be let off that easy. I promise you that, much like crystal, I won't be shutting up. Nate won't be able to silence any more victims of their actions. @@oneditzybrunnette when Nate 'left' the fandom, they were giving out scripts they wouldn't use. I grabbed several, and 'Thats Not How The Story Goes' was one of the scripts I was given. I was giving the drama time to die before I used the scripts, and also I had a couple other large-scale maps going on so I haven't hosted those maps yet. 7 months later, Nate's PMV that stemmed this map was scene for scene the script that they had given to me. When I approached then about it, they expressed that they HAD remembered they'd given it to me, and had simply assumed I was no longer going to use it. People also began siding with Nate as if I'm supposed to update them on a project that no longer belonged to them, that was part of a fandom they no longer belonged to. Draik called me manipulative, and calling me 'maliciously disingenuous' because I said they were technically stealing something that no longer belonged to them, that they acknowledged no longer belonged to them, and yet still used. I feel kinda bad for Appledusk. I mean, he's just accidentally killed a warrior and apprentice, his mate from that clan is expecting his kits. His mate doesn't seem to care about his worries, about their kits or about the fact them being found out has more stakes than ever. Then he finds out she lied about who the father of her kits are, and the "father" just so happens to be the guy he killed. Then he's on a border Patrol a few moons later and his mate has their way too young kits splashing around in the river- where only apprentices start swimming with their mentors close by. She gets told that's too dangerous and she throws caution to the wind, and while he's happy to meet his kits, it's kind of a scary thing because *they shouldn't even be out of the nursery, let alone playing in the river* then he gets almost no news for moons, and Reedshine honestly might've been his only comfort. Then his mate (soon to be ex) shows up half drowned with their kits dead because she thought they could swim in a river during a flood instead of waiting for a patrol. Like if he did cheat, that's bad, but Maple was definitely a terrible mate and has a lot of red flags around her in a few chapters, even without the murder, to back up Appledusk leaving her.

Sending porn to a minor is someone sending a child (Or someone under 18 years I think) and inappropriate drawing or picture (I think it can also be a picture??). Like I said before, that's illegal. Another shitty thing they did was call people out just because they didn't like them. Nate is kinda childish, they got angry just because a child called them a slut. Nate also told people to get hit by a train/die, which is something someone shouldn't do. I guess if they kept bullying people online for a while it could be considered as Cyber bullying which is something that can also end in a result of legal consequences. In my opinion, Nate left the fandom so they could punish themselves. In the end they came back, which goes against of what they said. Also just to bring up the fact that Warriors is a KID series, and people used to watch their videos because of their Warriors content so Nate should've expected the victim to be a minor. I love this! I especially love the new take on Mapleshade's Vengeance; rather than painting her as a pitiful, grieving mother, she's portrayed as what she is: a murderer and a manipulator. Don't get me wrong, I love Mapleshade, but it's not because of her sob story at all, it's because she's ruthless and manipulative- two traits I adore in villains. What happened to her and her kits sucked, but it's certainly not an excuse to do the things she did to Ravenwing, Frecklewish, and later Crookedstar and other Dark Forest trainees (since you could argue that Appledusk deserved it I'm not mentioning him lol). Oh, and getting back at Draikinator for breaking their promise is also a great part about this MAP. :)

Finally someone sees Mapleshade the same way I do. I’ve seen so many Mapleshade MAPs/comments painting Mapleshade as innocent, when she really wasn’t. Mapleshade manipulated Frecklewish to believe that the kits’ father was Birchface, Frecklewish’s dead brother. That part is so looked over by Mapleshade fans. In all honesty, Frecklewish didn’t deserve to die, nor did Ravenwing. Ravenwing was just telling his leader the truth, knowing that Mapleshade broke the code. What happened afterwards wasn’t Ravenwing’s fault at all. Yet people still seem to side with Mapleshade and look over her two murders of innocent cats to favor the belief that Mapleshade had been innocent when she had lost her kits.

I love how this map shows Appledusk sad over the death of her kits and the way he glares at her as he gets support from his mate. Her really feels for how she caused the death of those kits. She seen him as having no remorse because she wasn’t emotionally stable. Just love how the map shows both perspectives and shows how psycho she was. No excuse for her actions.

I like how Mapleshade is more villanized here without being portrayed as a heartless badass. Personally, I do believe Mapleshade is the only bad cat in her story. I disagree with how Draikinator thinks everyone was the villain. Oakstar? He couldn't have predicted that Mapleshade's kits would die, because that was a result of a decision MAPLESHADE made, not him. "He should have kept the kits anyways or they wouldn't have lived!" As if separating the kits from their mother and having them grow up being outcast in a world where they're products of illegal activity would have been LESS cruel. Darkstar? Had no reason to accept Mapleshade. She didn't let Appledusk off the hook either, like a responsible leader. Appledusk? Made TWO mistakes. Breaking the code and cheating. But he also sacrificed himself to save Reedshine. I think he is a good cat, but a flawed one who's made deathly and bad mistakes. He isn't downright evil. Frecklewish? She would've raised Mapleshade's kits with her. She was a GREAT cat. She was an insanely good sister and mother, and was rightfully pissed off when she discovered Mapleshade lied about the father. Ravenwing? He was just doing his job. StarClan sent him a sign that Mapleshade betrayed the code, and he took care of him. That's an example of a great Medicine Cat. Some of y'all really think him DEFYING THE LAW AND HIS RELIGION just to keep a bad cat in the clan would've been the better choice. Reedshine? Did NOTHING. She was betrayed, and INSTANTLY forgave Appledusk. That's an incredibly kind cat. She literally did nothing. Perchpaw? All he did was murder an outlaw who was terrorizing the clans. That's a GOOD act.

I have watched both of the MAP and AMV from certain someone. The name "That's Not How The Story Goes" fits so well with both MAP and AMV being like that, the person's AMV showing Mapleshade like that and then this MAP showing that the story is not like that, and boy i love that. It is like a "No u" MAP, made from a song that says "No u", to an AMV about "No u". I also wanna say they both nice in their own way, tho the person breaking their promise is not acceptable, and i understand the point of this map in that way. I used to love Mapleshade a lot and think of her as the victim, but after re reading MV and watching this map, plus reading some comments, she definitely wasn’t justified in her murders. The real victim at the end of the day is Larchkit, Patchkit, and Petalkit. They got screwed over more times then one, and died really tragically. They couldn’t help that they were Half-clan. I honestly like to imagine that after their deaths Appledusk cared for them and Reedwhisker helped out too, maybe they even got to play with their half siblings when they died aswell. It’s cute to think about, I wish they were shown sometime in omen of the stars. ALSO THAT MEME AT THE END HOLY S&*T I DIED LAUGHING!

Hello everyone, sorry I'm late. I made a promise to myself a few months ago, after Dr*ikin*tor made Touch Tone Telephone. No more Mapleshade MAPs on the Warriors playlist, I have too many already. I don't even like Mapleshade, there were just too many good ones, I thought I had found them all. This story, Mapleshade's Vengeance, had been told so many times, it was ridiculous. Making a MAP takes many different things. A good, creative host who knows the source material well. A good story to start from. A song that matches the story. Artistic animators who put their heart and soul into the final product, using their time and effort to complete it. There are so many things that I haven't gone over, I don't have enough time. Knowing the reason for making this, I liked the idea from the start. I haven't watched SoUE, but that doesn't matter here. With this MAP, even though I had never heard the song, I understood the message, and the song translated well to Mapleshade's Vengeance. The designs, the timing, the very characters who voiced the different parts of the song, everything was perfect. You told the entirety of MV, and even some of Crookedstar's Promise, in less than 3 minutes. That right there is what I call time management, which is also a large part of making a MAP. Apart from that, you made this with a different view of Mapleshade in comparison to the way most people see her, this MAP shares a view that I myself have of her. Now, to end all of that, I broke my promise to myself. Good MAP, Crystal. Very good indeed. Seriously, the only 'Let Go' that I see in the Warriors fandom is not letting go of anything that Nate did, but Owlspark's MAP. I'm fully against Nate as much as anyone here. THERE IS NO LETTING GO OF THIS UNTIL THEY STOP.

I might as well comment about Draikinator because this MAP was made to counteract(?) them (I’m not sure if this is the right phrasing, but basically to do the same thing that Nate did to Spunkeii). You’d think that peace and justice prevail, that’s not how the story goes.” Many still don’t know about Draikinator’s mishaps, chosen to ignore it, or forgave them. Justice has not prevailed. They broke their word when they started making Warrior Cats content again, and for what? A bigger paycheck? They’ve lied and manipulated situations, as well as done gross things. I’m glad this MAP was made, and I’m glad it paints everything in a different light. I think it’s a little ironic, in a sense. Draikinator shows that everyone was a victim including Mapleshade (themself). This MAP shows that Mapleshade (Draikinator) was not a victim, but the cause of their strife.
