A very interesting point of view David. For me the Album is one of the most contemporary alongside "From Elvis In Memphis", "Back In Memphis" and "On Stage". Thank you David

Another interesting and well put together video by Japan's King of Elvis! It's one of my favorite 70's LP that I play often. We had this on 8-track when it came out when I was a child. I still have that tape with now a Quad version, the cassette, several LP's, and the 3 3/4 ips reel to reel tape. The American original LP pressing has a nice warm sound even on the Dynaflex, and I am looking for the Japanese version which I have a few of from the 70's. I always love their cover designs they used the best quality anywhere in the world. Thanks David for another great video!

I can't remember when I first heard this one. I do remember getting most of the 50s and 60s albums before starting on the 70s music. It's one of my favourites now. Thanks for watching!

Fun to hear your call out on Stranger in the Crowd, one of my very favorites. And while I agree completely on the cake line in Next Step is Love, the other lyrics and imagery are so specific and vivid, it's exactly what I love about it. Great video, interesting topic Thanks!

Great video David! This particular album is my favorite 70s one from Elvis. Just superb. Elvis’ vocals are great on this LP. I enjoyed your song by song breakdown! Excellent as always my friend!

Hi David, 🤔 Interesting, I always pictured "Stranger In The Crowd" as being in the evening. I'd have to think about the 12 upbeat tracks but at the top of the tree would definitely be "Wonderful World".

Doesn't matter what time of day it was. It's still weird for him to be "standing on the corner" for no apparent reason. Dodgy. 😁 Thanks for watching!

Very nice video, David. Never looked at this album before, but now I see it with other eyes and listen too it other wise. This is my all time favorite Elvis album, I have many different pressings of TTWII, but missing the one you showed in the video, but will find it one day. My favorite song is "stranger in the crowd" lucky I found this one on A 45rpm vinyl single, so I can play it in the jukebox. "Stranger in the crowd" was only released in the Philippines on 45rpm. "Just pretend" is also my favorite, don't think it was ever relaesed on A 45rpm single.

I never knew Stranger in the Crowd had been released as a single. As you say, I don't think Just Pretend was. Great song, though. Thanks for watching!

Thanks to you, David, I've learned that "That's The Way It Is" one of his 12 studio albums that he released in the 70s. My quest to collect those (minus that country album) is still an ongoing project (I'm about halfway there) and I don't have this album yet but I hope to find it in really good condition some day. I like that "documentary film" very much, Jarkko/MyVinylBar PS. Oh and partial answer to your question is that I would definitely include at least "See See Rider" and "I Got A Woman" and "Proud Mary" and "Blue Suede Shoes" on my upbeat compilation.

12 studio albums in seven years is a lot, eh? The country album (I guess you mean Elvis Country) isn't much different to any of his other 70s albums. It's not full of pedal steel guitar and banjos, for instance. It's actually, I would say, his finest 70s album. Good luck finding all the albums. Cheers, Jarkko.

interesting idea. There’s Brand New Day on the Horizon, It’s a wonderful World, What a Wonderful Life, Fountain of Love, Have a Happy, I Got Lucky, I Think I’m Gonna Like it Here, Riding the Rainbow, This is Living, You Can’t Say no in Acapulco
@ElvisPresleyInJapan9 ай бұрын
That seems almost too upbeat! Interesting how most of your selections are from the movies. Cheers, Steve.

Hi Dave , hope ya well ,really nice video ,that’s the way it is ,a really strong album from the 70s along with promised land probably his best two for me from that time ,a lot of hits on it and EL was on the crest of a wave then ,a think he recorded songs that he liked and turned him on Dave all his career not just the 70s ,but a would disagree a little mate ref his personal life a do think a lot o the time he was singing to pricilla on these songs a honestly think by the time of alhoha 73 he was a broken man ref his wife going with another man ,I’ve experienced this me sel when my wife of 22 years left me for another ,a won’t bore you with the details but it hurt at the time ,a do think that some of these records suffered from over production,too many instruments for me especially brass instruments ,what do you think on that Dave ,be interested on your opinion ,me favourite track on TTWIS is ,just cant help believin ,it reached no 6 in the UK singles charts when originally released ,it was much better for me than ,the wonder of you ,which was no 1 for six weeks summer of 70 ,no one told a story on record that EL for me ,take care Dave ,tony 🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶

Hi Tony. It might be interesting to do a breakdown of the Promised Land LP lyrics. Maybe one day. Another strong LP, as you say. Sorry to read about what happened with your ex-wife. 22 years is a long time. I don't think I've done anything that long, apart from breathing. I hope things worked out for you. I'm with you regarding the overdubs on the 70s music. I think it works on occasion, but I wish they'd left the music largely as it was. When I heard the From Elvis in Nashville set, I was impressed with many of the Love Letters songs without the overdubs (it's not a favourite album of mine). I'd love to see all Elvis' 70s albums re-released in undubbed versions - just the same 10 or 12 tracks in the same order but without the overdubs. Cheers, Tony.

My favourite album. Unfortunately sad that the gatefold era started to disappear this lp. Even though it was part of a box set. I'd be interested to know what the box looked like? 🤔Again, great review.😊
@henryfong34719 ай бұрын
Last Saturday at Glebe record Fair, most of the Elvis lps were sold out. I'm not interested in the Elvis Aust pressings as the cover had plastic wrapping shrink which stuffed the covers up. The vinyls were very thin as well
@ElvisPresleyInJapan9 ай бұрын
By 1981, the live albums were being released as mid-priced LPs in Japan, so it was inevitable the deluxe packaging would go. You can find pics of the box set in my book. 😉
