*We learnt so much from a man who never existed* R.I.P Arthur Morgan. “There ain’t no shame in looking for a better world”. “We can’t change what’s done, we can only move on”. “Be loyal to what matters”. “Vengeance is an idiot’s game”. “You don’t get to live a bad life and have good things happen to you”. *Arthur saw red, ended up dead, but he found redemption*

He didn’t find redemption he strived for it and received it by helping ppl and helping John and his family. That’s how men perceived as *“bad”* want in life just another shot that proves that we are good people aswell and to die on a path for goodness. It’s very sad but that’s actually real life, if you look at criminals or men with a traumatic past most of them or us don’t want to die in vein. We want to die helping others and hopefully get redemption through that. So Arthurs death is actually like giving me another appreciation for military etc. because they actually die for us. To be free and flourish _Arthurs death is very deep_

Its not the only true thing he says in the game. He sometimes opens up in camp like when he talked about his family, his view on life or him calling himself crazy, but yeah this line is great, it gives you the idea of who is Micah and how he sees the world. You can also hear him saying that there is no good or evil, only living and dying, but maybe there is a damnation and he is know what is it like and would feel there like at home, that is my favourite Micah speech in the whole game, I really empatheiezed him first time I heard it

Even saying that he is fictional feels wrong, as he is one of the most real and humane characters in the history of media... Thank YOU! Quite a while ago now I was doing my 4th full playthrough of RDR2 and seeing as I was looking up some stuff on how to get the best horses and guns and treasures my algorythm gave me more and more RDR2 content. One of them was of a streamer doing her first playthrough and I thought it could be a nice background whilest I was playing. Little did I know that I had stumbled upon the amazing KaliWali who in no time would not only steal much of my attention, but also a little bit of my heart. It's been a true joy seeing your sincere and thoughtful takes on these bits of culture. It was quite the ride! Thank you so much for taking us along your journey through the adventures of Arthur. But, you've got quite a ways to go! I know you thought that the end of Arthur would be the end of the game, but that epilogue is a rather big chunk still to go through :) And it's some of the most wholesome gaming that exists. It is NOT a simple add on. This epilogue is just as stunning in story and content as all 6 other chapters. Make sure to take your time and explore! Go back to all the places you've been with Arthur to dig up some nice memories. (I'm sure you're mods can nudge you towards all the nice things still to see.) There is also a massive new part of the map that you'll be able to explore now, though you already know most of it ;) Though I really hope that after the insane load of emotional content you've given us these last weeks, you'll also do some more wholesome and comedic content too, because you deserve it after this!

Well, Arthur saying insist suggests he is using his own will, telling Dutch something to do, insisting upon it, rather than following Dutch's orders
@demanvandemaan19 күн бұрын
True! I also think that Dutch is triggered so much because Arthur's insisting is the definitive proof that Arthur no longer has faith in Dutch and thus is basically saying that Dutch is not "good" anymore, that he is flawed. When I played this game for the first time a few months ago, I already knew Arthur was going to die. Unfortunately, it had been impossible to avoid spoilers after all this time. But what I didn’t know was how. I thought it would be the more expected trope where the gang is making some final daring escape, and Dutch pulls a “you’re not coming with us” and shoots Arthur and leaves him behind. Arthur’s illness was the last thing I was expecting, but I also can’t overstate how much I enjoyed and appreciated the writing of this final chapter as a result. Even without spoilers, I think most can anticipate Arthur's death, yet the story just hits so hard. Going back to something I said wayyy back before you even played RDR1 that the beauty in the writing of this game is all the emotions of discovering "how things happened" rather than just "what happens next". Truly the perfect prequel Arthur was given time. Time that Lenny and Hosea, and countless others were not afforded. Time that he could use to define his legacy. Who is he really, deep down in his heart? For most of his life, I feel Arthur let his circumstances and the misfortunes of his past define who he was. Just a simple outlaw, angry at the world, out for vengeance. But that’s not the real Arthur. His newfound perspective on life after the diagnosis and some words from people who truly care about him helped him see that. It wasn’t about him anymore. It was about protecting those who need protecting, and saving those who need saving. And with passing his hat off, John now carries his legacy forward. This wasn’t Arthur’s vengeance tour, this wasn’t even a justice arc, it was instead Arthur’s final…. Redemption

35:30 The reason they show the text about how the loot is split between the gang is because it's also showing you that you were cut out for that last score. On the right hand side of the screen, at the same time that that text comes up, it shows that Arthur's take is $0. It's actually a really cool way to show that the gang has completely cut you out at this point.

Just fyi, the epilogue takes place in 1907, 8 years after the main game (1899) and 3-4 years before RDR 1 (1911). Remember in RDR 1 when John told Bonnie he'd only "been a rancher for 3 years or so"? Well, here we are, lol. And yes, the epilogue chapters set up the events of the first game. Also, if you are like me and can't stand John with short hair (lol), you can recreate John's hair and facial hair from RDR 1 (or get as close as possible to it) by following these steps: Hair: - Right parted, level 5 (level 6 also works, altough it's a bit longer than his RDR 1 hair and resembles his RDR 2 1899 NPC hair more). Facial hair: - Dundreary sideburns level 2. - Chin (natural) level 1. - Pencil mustache level 2.

Both RDR1 and RDR2 compliment each other. If you’ve played RDR1 and play 2, it elevates it because you know a bit of what happens, in 1, John eludes to things, and some things are super wrapped up in mystery and ambiguity, but in RDR2, you get all the details, as you are in them! You also see old characters return from 1 as well. if you’ve played RDR2 first and play RDR1 after, the same thing can be said. Old characters return and a continuation of the story and the task at hand becomes more meaningful because of the past events.

When it comes to the conversation with Sadie and Arthur, I've always loved this conversation because it finally shows how much Arthur opened his eyes towards what Dutch was doing, and that was finding people who basically have nothing but anger and even resentment and using that for his own purpose. Once that anger and resentment are gone, Dutch begins to caste them aside. It's such a powerful idea that Arthur begins to realize it, and while he was able to save as much as he could, and was able to let go of that anger that he had not just towards Dutch, but all the years he was alive, its when he certainly achieved his redemption.

One thing I’ve noticed is that he looks like he could do modeling when he is extremely underweight with empty cores. Quite ironic, considering how the modern world works.

The dialogue writing for this game is awesome, even some throwaway lines are perfect. Two of my favourites from the final mission. When the train is flying by, Arthur 'should I just sneak on now?' And Micah on Arthur returning to camp 'Black Lung you're back, Hooray'
@Auth0R_M0RGaN19 күн бұрын
That last *line from Micah always makes me appreciate how funny he actually is, next to Arthur, Micah has some of the best one liners in the game 😄.

''You're my brother..'' ''I know.. I know.'' 😞 Thank you! Kali for this playthrough experience, it was totally worth the time and the reactions up until this point, BUT! we're not through with the whole game yet ! 😅After you spend this enormous amount of time with a character as complex and as layered as Arthur, you begin to wonder if he's real or just like any fictional character in some game, that's what I like to say when I'd think about it. Anyways, you got a pretty much amount of time left and SOO many things that will be needed to be done still before it's finally over. So, I strongly recommend to be as thorough as you were in the main chapters ( it is worth it ) R* gave the players plenty of new room to explore in the Epilogue, complete whatever was unfinished because the map will be 100% opened at some point. It is really the last goodbye. As for John, he is a bit of a dummy in the Epilogue 😅but in a good way, and that's only because he's still learning a lot, as people who played RDR2 first and getting used to him like this, most almost wouldn't even recognize him after in RDR1, that's how much he changes over these years! Very excited to see you react to it. Take care ! 😊

Arthur’s reply “I know, I know” is so reminiscent of [SPOILER for Return of the Jedi] Han Solo replying to Leia in Return of the Jedi when she confesses her love to Han “I love you” and rather than saying “I love you too”, “I know” suits the occasion way more and less cheesy but more grounded imo 🤧.

In the valley of outlaws, where the wild winds roam, Stood a man named Arthur, far from hearth and home. A rider on the tempest, with steel in his eyes, A heart worn by sorrow, and a soul full of lies. He rode with the gang, with Dutch by his side, In search of a freedom where dreams could abide. But the years turned cruel, and the paths grew thin, As the shadows of choices crept under his skin. With a cough that cut deep, like a blade in the night, The reaper drew close, taking life from his sight. He stared at the sky, saw the end drawing near, And faced down his demons with a heart full of fear. Yet in his last days, something changed in his mind, A yearning for peace, for a life left behind. He saw through the chaos, the lies, and the gold, And found in his heart, a story untold. A friend to the lost, a savior to John, He set forth a path for a new day's dawn. With his gun in his hand, and a smile bittersweet, He rode to the end, where fate and honor meet. In the light of the morning, as the world turned to gray, Arthur laid down his life as the shadows gave way. His spirit now free, like the wind on the plain, A legend, a man, who found peace in the pain. For Arthur Morgan, who lived wild and fast, Found redemption and love, in the end, at last. A hero to some, a sinner to most, Now rides with the sunset, a wandering ghost.

Did you see how Javier reacted to chosing a side? He was the only one pointing his gun up than going against his brothers. Such a cool detailed by the actor that actually made that choice. He even confirmed that in interviews.

kali thank you so much for such a wonderful, thoughtful, in-depth, and heartfelt play through. while i am excited to see you play through the epilogue i've so enjoyed watch you play through the main story, it was almost like playing through it for the first time. the game really is a life changer. i know it changed me. thanks again, and i can't wait for more whether it be more read dead, a reaction video or anything else. you are amazing!

When I think of this goodbye between Arthur and John, I always think of how Dutch was the eloquent one. I think this game is so well-written for how we know someone like Dutch, Hosea, Trelawny or even Micah (not that he ever would) could probably articulate a lot of moving speeches and/or powerful sentiments and dress them all up in pretty words, were they in this position. Arthur and John aren't unarticulate by any stretch and often have banger quotes that get across many thoughts, profound or otherwise, but they're undeniably men who prefer to express themselves in much simpler terms. And I love that because we know that and we know them, their goodbye to each other gets across more emotion and meaning any one of Dutch's speeches ever did with far fewer and smaller words. Part of it will be the heat of the moment, but so much is said with so little. "You're my brother!" "I know. I know.

This “game” was like being part of a movie but it’s so much more than that because you play as the main character. It’s hard to put into words. I never thought a video game would tug at my heart strings like this one did. Arthur Morgan is by far the best of the best!

Me at 2:00 "good thing you aren't wearing alot of mascara. You're going to be crying"
@TheFremenBlue19 күн бұрын
For me, the crying starts when Arthur rasps "Mrs. Adler, ride with me!" By the time the horse dies, I'm a weepy mess. (Since that first playthrough I keep an old nag handy for that final ride, and still cry over the damn horse.) And all other betrayals aside, Dutch is a PoS for leaving Arthur to die alone - wouldn't even sit with him. That is low.

Ultimately this is a story about three men who by the end of their respective journeys realize they weren't the men they thought they were. Arthur saw himself as this bad rotten from the inside person who eventually realized he could be more than that. He could be fair, selfless and a leader. Dutch saw himself as an altruistic man and leader of the people who ended up coming face to face with the fact that he was the one rotten from the inside. Similar arc to Arthur but with an opposite end result. John saw himself as a man who wasn't cut out for family and responsibility and he ended up putting his family over everything. Arthur and John are the biggest achievements that Dutch as the man who raised them could've wished for. They are what he saw himself as, what he preached and yet he hates them for it. Because seeing them like that makes him come to terms with what he really is. And Dutch can't cope with reality. He's always running away from it. Either hiding himself in his books and philosophies or quite literally running away (as we see with Arthur dying on his feet when he's unable to say "I'm sorry" and so he gets away). His evasion of reality goes even hader when we know from the first game that he kills himself. Dutch is an idealist but not in the traditional pure parangon of justice type of way we may imagine idealism as. He's the dark side of idealism. The one of someone who believes in the ideal not because of a genuine belief but rather because there is nothing left for them outside of the fantasy but going crazy at a world they don't understand because deep inside they always had a piece missing. A man who desperately needs to justify those impulses and anger that he doesn't understand in a way that doesnt conflict with his self-image and so the ideal twists itself more and more until it becomes unsustainable and unrecognizable and eventually he comes face to face with the truth in the worst way possible. Dutch is undoubtedly a terrible person but man, what a sad existence.

We have been on this journey with you Kaliwali😢 When all of this ended with Arthur for me I thought a bit.... Realized something metaphorical about how bad Dutch was with his relationships with women was how bad things he got with everyone. I feel like Molly was actually super big forshadowing and a mirror on how actually screwy Dutch was inside with his thoughts of people he was supposed to love. He kept putting his schemes above the person he was supposed to care about the most. By the end that spread to everyone.
@paulalverson721119 күн бұрын
Arthur's possible love interests/close friends were also reflective of his own internal struggles. If he had survived I would have wanted him to pick up a loving relationship with Sadie. I felt like they were truly having an understanding of each other. Plus, she really accepted Arthur on his multiple fronts. Could have healed both their internal pains in such a relationship.
@demanvandemaan19 күн бұрын
You're spot on that Molly was a foreshadowing. She was totally devoted to Dutch, but after the "fun" falling in love part, he dropped her like she was nothing. Just like Dutch considered Arthur his son, up unto the point that he no longer needed him and then he just dropped him too. This mirroring of Molly and Arthur is even further brought home by both of them saying that they "gave everything" to Dutch. Molly in her poem and Arthur as his last words to Dutch. Maybe the item fetch quest of Molly being a "mirror" is also a subtle wink from the developers :p

I've played this a few times and watched playthroughs with different youtubers, so I obviously knew what was going to happen so didn't worry about being teary-eyed. Wrong!! It still gets me emotionally. Especially when your horse dies. Great game!!

Sorry about Elpona, he was a good horse , may he rest in peace in horse heaven with an unlimited supply of carrots and apples 🥕🍎 There is still much to do in this game with John so you could also take a break if you need it. Lookling forward to whatever you are playing next

One of the cruelest cuts Dutch inflicts in the game isn't just that he leaves Arthur during the factory job: it's that Eagle Flies has been clearly shot, and rather than acknowledge him in any way at all, Dutch confirms this is all, "Just as I planned."

7:40 Sister vs. Reverend: AFAIK: If you're high honor (which you naturally maxed out), you get that nice scene with sister Calderón. If you're low honor you get a scene with Reverend Swanson. So if you really want to go for that in a second playthrough, you need Arthur to become a real bad boy. ... I doubt that this is worth it. 1:17:46 "Sadie is awesome. I wish that we could have more side quests and interactions with her." Oh yes. 1:29:30 "The many miles we walked. ..." 1:49:48 "Face me to the west so I can watch the setting sun and remember all the fine times we had that way." 😭 1:53:52 "Is this more of chapter 6?" ... Kind of, let's call it "Epilogue". I'm very glad RockStar decided to not end it on Arthur's death leaving us in shambles, but pick us up after that. 1:55:16 "I feel like they all got out alive." ... Maybe we'll get a chance to find them. It's in John's hands which are our hands now. ... 2:02:30 "We gonna be playing as John for a bit." Yes. 🙂
