He didn’t find redemption he strived for it and received it by helping ppl and helping John and his family. That’s how men perceived as *“bad”* want in life just another shot that proves that we are good people aswell and to die on a path for goodness. It’s very sad but that’s actually real life, if you look at criminals or men with a traumatic past most of them or us don’t want to die in vein. We want to die helping others and hopefully get redemption through that. So Arthurs death is actually like giving me another appreciation for military etc. because they actually die for us. Its not the only true thing he says in the game. He sometimes opens up in camp like when he talked about his family, his view on life or him calling himself crazy, but yeah this line is great, it gives you the idea of who is Micah and how he sees the world. You can also hear him saying that there is no good or evil, only living and dying, but maybe there is a damnation and he is know what is it like and would feel there like at home, that is my favourite Micah speech in the whole game, I really empatheiezed him first time I heard it

Am I really missing out being that I never actually finished the game? Pretty much did like 1 mission as John and never finished. Eventually I did another playthrough on PS5 and stopped at the American Father mission right before the Saint Denis bank job and Cuba (around the time Arthur starts looking sick)

When I played this the first time through I was SOBBING and I thought I couldn't sob harder then Arthur said that and I was hysterical. It's such a punch to the gut! Like you said, you get to mentally prepare for Arthur's death. The horse? Completely unexpected.

Quite a while ago now I was doing my 4th full playthrough of RDR2 and seeing as I was looking up some stuff on how to get the best horses and guns and treasures my algorythm gave me more and more RDR2 content. One of them was of a streamer doing her first playthrough and I thought it could be a nice background whilest I was playing. Little did I know that I had stumbled upon the amazing KaliWali who in no time would not only steal much of my attention, but also a little bit of my heart. It's been a true joy seeing your sincere and thoughtful takes on these bits of culture. It was quite the ride! Thank you so much for taking us along your journey through the adventures of Arthur. But, you've got quite a ways to go! I know you thought that the end of Arthur would be the end of the game, but that epilogue is a rather big chunk still to go through :) And it's some of the most wholesome gaming that exists. It is NOT a simple add on. This epilogue is just as stunning in story and content as all 6 other chapters. Make sure to take your time and explore! Go back to all the places you've been with Arthur to dig up some nice memories. (I'm sure you're mods can nudge you towards all the nice things still to see.) There is also a massive new part of the map that you'll be able to explore now, though you already know most of it ;) Though I really hope that after the insane load of emotional content you've given us these last weeks, you'll also do some more wholesome and comedic content too, because you deserve it after this!

I have never seen side quests having such a significant emotional impact on the main story quite like this game did. All those side missions made the last ride *THAT* much more emotionally impactful. Seriously there has never been a game that hit me as hard as the ending of Arthur Morgan's story. From the second he said goodbye to Abigail and Sadie, to the death of your horse and obviously his final stand and final breath as the sun rises is the most masterfully well written and acted stuff I've ever seen in a game. God of War Ragnarok is the only thing that comes close but honestly, it doesn't hold a candle to the weight and impact that this game had. RIP Arthur Morgan. I wish things ended differently. He was a good man. The best. I really enjoyed this playthrough. More than any other I've seen. I look forward to the epilogue, but to be honest, I feel like the moment Arthur died, so did my real attachment to this game and its story. The rest of the game just felt like a blur. I just wish Arthur could have gotten the satisfaction of killing Micah or at least seeing him die.

Kali I completely get you. I was bracing for Arthur's death from the moment he got diagnosed but my horse my little star I had for 90 of those 100hrs I spent playing the game was just gone. I was sobbing so hard cause she was just gone. I could barely see during the micah fight as well as I felt just how much Arthur was struggling. When I played this game for the first time a few months ago, I already knew Arthur was going to die. Unfortunately, it had been impossible to avoid spoilers after all this time. But what I didn’t know was how. I thought it would be the more expected trope where the gang is making some final daring escape, and Dutch pulls a “you’re not coming with us” and shoots Arthur and leaves him behind. Arthur’s illness was the last thing I was expecting, but I also can’t overstate how much I enjoyed and appreciated the writing of this final chapter as a result. Even without spoilers, I think most can anticipate Arthur's death, yet the story just hits so hard. Going back to something I said wayyy back before you even played RDR1 that the beauty in the writing of this game is all the emotions of discovering "how things happened" rather than just "what happens next". Truly the perfect prequel Arthur was given time. Time that Lenny and Hosea, and countless others were not afforded. Time that he could use to define his legacy. Who is he really, deep down in his heart? For most of his life, I feel Arthur let his circumstances and the misfortunes of his past define who he was. Just a simple outlaw, angry at the world, out for vengeance. But that’s not the real Arthur. His newfound perspective on life after the diagnosis and some words from people who truly care about him helped him see that. It wasn’t about him anymore. It was about protecting those who need protecting, and saving those who need saving. And with passing his hat off, John now carries his legacy forward. This wasn’t Arthur’s vengeance tour, this wasn’t even a justice arc, it was instead Arthur’s final…. Redemption

Just fyi, the epilogue takes place in 1907, 8 years after the main game (1899) and 3-4 years before RDR 1 (1911). Remember in RDR 1 when John told Bonnie he'd only "been a rancher for 3 years or so"? Well, here we are, lol. And yes, the epilogue chapters set up the events of the first game. Also, if you are like me and can't stand John with short hair (lol), you can recreate John's hair and facial hair from RDR 1 (or get as close as possible to it) by following these steps: Hair: - Right parted, level 5 (level 6 also works, altough it's a bit longer than his RDR 1 hair and resembles his RDR 2 1899 NPC hair more). Facial hair: - Dundreary sideburns level 2. - Chin (natural) level 1. - Pencil mustache level 2.

Epona just riding right up into Cornwall Kerosene and Tar. Skittish the entire game and runs right into a fight with the Army. He was a good boah right up til the end. Super excited to see you play through the epilogue. I can promise you one thing. It will heal many wounds. And although I played RDR1 first, and loved John, and then played RDR2 and loved Arthur more, and was initially bummed about playing Arthur... and then bummed about playing as John again... lol. Both RDR1 and RDR2 compliment each other. If you’ve played RDR1 and play 2, it elevates it because you know a bit of what happens, in 1, John eludes to things, and some things are super wrapped up in mystery and ambiguity, but in RDR2, you get all the details, as you are in them! You also see old characters return from 1 as well. if you’ve played RDR2 first and play RDR1 after, the same thing can be said. Old characters return and a continuation of the story and the task at hand becomes more meaningful because of the past events.

Howdy Kali 🫡! Firstly, love the change of Thumbnail to showing Arthur and his final scene watching the sunrise, perfect episode for this 👊🏽. What a ride it’s been with Arthur, loved every moment watching you play the main chapters and a fitting end to his story. Love how Susan at beginning comforted Tilly showing her warm motherly side 🤧. Also, Tilly saying how she’ll miss Arthur gets me every time, like a daughter saying goodbye to her Dad for final time :/. Although Epona was skittish, he was loyal and reliable enough to get you around the map, so so glad you didn’t give into the White Arabian cult 👀😄. RIP Epona, Thank You 🫡! Hearing the slower version of Unshaken, “Crash of Worlds” hits so hard as the final song plays during Arthur’s final scene. Watching Arthur take his final breath & dying alone on the mountain is so tragic while being beautiful seeing the sunrise too :/. RIP to my all time fave Fictional Character, Arthur Morgan. I stopped playing for weeks cause it felt like I’d lost an older brother or uncle before I played Epilogue. Interesting thing about this John part, there’s a HUGE percentage of people who stopped playing after Arthur’s passing and didn’t feel as connected to John & also cause of how incredible Arthur was a character which is why I’m glad you chose Release Order to play the game in, makes the run to the end all the more rewarding. One suggestion with John, no matter what Hat the game forces you to wear, please equip Arthur’s Gambler Hat he gave John as a tribute to him to end of the game and you don’t need to make John look like he was in RDR1, he has a full 4 years before he becomes that guy and all of RDR1 to look like his does in that game so feel free to grow out his hair and beard and style as you see fit, up to you though. Anyways, look forward to the rest of the Epilogue & your reaction to how the rest of the story pans out. Okay, I’ll catch ya later then Kali 👋🏽!

I honestly can't stand RDR 2 epilogue John not looking like RDR 1 John. Maybe it's because I played the first game relentlessly back when it came out and that look is just burned into my memory. During the main game it makes sense he doesn't have the exact look because he's 12 years younger, but the epilogue only takes place about 4 years before RDR 1, so it makes sense he'd transition to his RDR 1 look by that point. I just cringe whenever I see videos of John with short hair or massive beards (that hide most of his face). He looks so wrong to me, lol. I always recreate his look and outfits from the first game in the epilogue (I particularly enjoy recreating his duster coat and elegant suit from RDR 1. There's KZbin videos dedicated to recreating his RDR 1 outfits in RDR 2). Someone up above in the comments has done a breakdown of how to get John to look like his RDR 1 self. I highly recommend following that, if you want.

@@BeUgLo97-ti9rj I like Main Story John but his Epilogue look using Arthur’s model was lazy and in part from some Reddit theories was to help people who hadn’t played RDR1 to acclimate them into playing as John as like I said above, there’s a Huge percentage of people who didn’t play the Epilogue, many of them to this day not even playing RDR1. Did that work? Nope, still many haven’t played Epilogue. As for making him look more like RDR1 John? We’ll agree to disagree, like irl, I would hate to have the same hairstyle, beard and clothes I wore 4 years prior and I don’t want that for my version of John either, he has the entirety of RDR1 to look like his does 4 years from Epilogue but the beauty of this and other games like this, we can tailor our characters look however we individually see fit 👍🏽😊.

Arthur Morgan is not only one of the best characters in games, but also one of the best characters in all art forms; truly an extraordinarily well-written character who is the heart of a tragically beautiful story. The writers evidently gave so much thought and care to his character and I'm so grateful to them for giving us one of the best protagonists I've ever seen in media. But Arthur would not have been complete without the acting and performance of Roger Clark. There was some exceptional display of talent in his work here, he truly brought Arthur to life in every way possible, it made it significantly more memorable and impactful and I can't laud his acting enough for that. Arthur Morgan will always hold a special place in my heart and losing him almost felt like losing someone I knew. I had to take a week's break after his death because I simply couldn't bring myself to play as John 'cause I missed Arthur too much. It almost felt like I was grieving him. With that said, I love John as well, and I'm looking forward to you playing the epilogue, it's so worth it. Also, I would strongly recommend reacting to a tribute video called *"Arthur"* by *Charles Liu* *AFTER* you've completed the epilogue. You'll love it, it's a beautifully made video, and honestly the best tribute video I have ever seen. Thank you for this wonderful playthrough (can't wait for the epilogue)!

Another excellent episode Kali 👏 and now you know why John's hatred of Bill, Javier and Dutch runs so deep in RDR1! Your takes on the invention of technology and information being at your finger tips are net negative for society are spot on. Going on where you were at life when FB and MySpace came about i'm a few years older than you, and i feel so greatful for having grown up having to go outside to connect with others and be face to face with people to communicate, and with information everywhere at your demand, like we have legends and tales of the past today, the generations of the future won't have legends of today because everything is researched and corrected instantly. If you think of an office block today, a story told on the bottom floor usually changes many times before it reaches the 12th floor. In days before the internet stories had to spread from one town to another and from one generation to another which solidified there legend. In today's age if anyone tries to put a legend slant on a story its shot down immediately. Looking forward to seeing you playing the epilogue and tying in the whole story of both RDR games. Much love, have fun and enjoy ❤ Also if you are planning a new game for after the epilogue is complete and you are 1 of many looking forward to GTA 6 which is the next big Rockstar slated release, i suggest a GTA 5 playthrough as this will tie in the physics and game play features from all Red Dead and GTA titles since GTA 4. As most long term Rockstar fans will know GTA and Red Dead games have had a very specific pattern since birth. There a strand of code from the original top down GTA that still runs through every game. That code is developed on each new game engine designed for a 3 game cycle to maximise the core code on each engine before a new one is designed. GTA, GTA London and GTA 2 were on the 1st engine, GTA 3, GTA VC and GTA SA were on the 2nd engine. Red Dead Revolver was the 1st game on the current engine and was effectively coined as 'GTA Wild West' with the same core strand of code as GTA. GTA 4 was the 1st GTA title on the current engine, this continued on development of physics and game play features such as Dead Eye, the Weapon Wheel, NPC interactions and more. Swapping releases between Red Dead and GTA titles has also allowed Rockstar to do cross testing of in development item on a current release, example alot of RDR2 weapons were tested in GTA Online before release. This along with the rapid development of the open world and storyline optionality make all the Rockstar games on the current engine an interesting development link chain, RDR > GTA 4 > RDR 1 > GTA 5 > RDR 2 > GTA 6. The early games where mainly physics, controls and in game features development and storylines were very linear. Where i think it may interest you is in the storyline optionality, story telling, game features development and Rockstar's always funny satire on events current to each games release. Where RDR 1 was a linear story, GTA 5 is the a bidirectional story and RDR 2 is a multidirectional story. Also GTA 5 is the bridge that gaps the difference in dead eye, the weapon wheel, npc interactivity and open world map size and some other things between the 2 Red Dead Redemption games. Given this if your looking forward to GTA 6 you can most likely expect it to be continued development of RDR 2. Hope this gives you some food for thought.

When it comes to the conversation with Sadie and Arthur, I've always loved this conversation because it finally shows how much Arthur opened his eyes towards what Dutch was doing, and that was finding people who basically have nothing but anger and even resentment and using that for his own purpose. Once that anger and resentment are gone, Dutch begins to caste them aside. It's such a powerful idea that Arthur begins to realize it, and while he was able to save as much as he could, and was able to let go of that anger that he had not just towards Dutch, but all the years he was alive, its when he certainly achieved his redemption.

We have been on this journey with you Kaliwali😢 When all of this ended with Arthur for me I thought a bit.... Realized something metaphorical about how bad Dutch was with his relationships with women was how bad things he got with everyone. I feel like Molly was actually super big forshadowing and a mirror on how actually screwy Dutch was inside with his thoughts of people he was supposed to love. He kept putting his schemes above the person he was supposed to care about the most. By the end that spread to everyone.

Arthur's possible love interests/close friends were also reflective of his own internal struggles. If he had survived I would have wanted him to pick up a loving relationship with Sadie. I felt like they were truly having an understanding of each other. Plus, she really accepted Arthur on his multiple fronts. Could have healed both their internal pains in such a relationship.

You're spot on that Molly was a foreshadowing. She was totally devoted to Dutch, but after the "fun" falling in love part, he dropped her like she was nothing. Just like Dutch considered Arthur his son, up unto the point that he no longer needed him and then he just dropped him too. This mirroring of Molly and Arthur is even further brought home by both of them saying that they "gave everything" to Dutch. Molly in her poem and Arthur as his last words to Dutch. Maybe the item fetch quest of Molly being a "mirror" is also a subtle wink from the developers :p

RIP Arthur… I havent seen too many say this but since youre a big fan of God of War too i think there are alot of similarities between Arthur and Kratos. I mean the dodgy pasts, losing a child, the urge to do better and be a better person. As much i love Kratos im glad Roger Clark won best performance for this game over Chris Judge in 2018. Arthurs arc is masterful, but i think Dutchs journey is just brilliant!! Really brilliant writing.. Id love to see you play GTA 5 as a contrast to this game 😂😂
