thank you very much for posting. you noted that the root/C# stays in position for main riff, true. but i think it wld've been helpful to note that the root note is ALSO "walking down". this is a very popular and tasteful guitar (and piano, obviously) technique: to have a note, be it the root or 3rd or 4rth note of the primary/intro chord walking down while the other notes are subtly rearranged to accommodate what is a rather straight forward walk down. thanks again for posting - i woke up to a snow blizzard and just HAD to learn to play this song. :)
@NemoCee7 жыл бұрын
Hi there James. That's right, the root stays in place, and it's the color of the chord that changes, not the root. It wouldn't be accurate to say that the root also changes, as it cannot both change and not change simultaneously. The way EWF plays it is they fix that root (which is how I explain it here). If you were to think of it as a moving root, then the chords would be called something different and the song would sound slightly different, try it. Peace.

The significance of this beautiful song to me; this may not apply to everyone but perception is in the eye of the beholder. "Hearts of fire creates love desire" (Our hearts being put through the refiners fire creates within us a desire to ❤ love) Zechariah 13:9 "Take you high and higher to the 🌎 world you belong" (Taking us to Mount Zion or Yahrushalayim, the city which sits high upon a hill) Hebrews 12:22 "High and higher to your place on the throne" (Another reference to Yahrushalayim, YAHUSHA Ha'Mashiach is the only One who sits on that 'throne' fixed in His kodush city) Isaiah 9:7 "We come together on this special day" (Remember to KEEP this day set apart and to have a kodush convocation on it for YAH-Shabbat, His day of rest) Lev.23:3 "Sing our message loud and clear" (He inhabits the singing & praises of His people) Psalms 22:3 "Looking back, we've touched on sorrowful days" (He will wipe away every tear) Rev.21:4 "Future pass, they disappear" (Time will be no more one day) Rev.10:6 "You will find peace of mind" (YAHUAH gives us perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him) Isaiah 26:3 "If you look way down in your heart and soul" (To love YAH with all of your heart, soul and strength) Deuteronomy 6:4-5 "Don't hesitate because the 🌎 world seems cold" (This world is not our home, with all of it's wickedness and cold hearted people) Hebrews 13:14-16 "Stay young at heart, 'cause your never, never old" (Unless we become like children, we will never enter His kingdom or kodush city) Matthew 18:3 "That's the way of the world" (Do not be conformed to this world, but transformed) Romans 12:2 "Plant your flower and you grow a pearl" (A sower went forth, some seed fell on good soil, and the kingdom of YAH is like a costly pearl of great price) Matthew 13:8 Matthew 13:45-46 "Child is born with a heart ❤ of gold" (For unto us a child is born, a son is given) Isaiah 9:6 "Way of the world makes His heart so cold" (Though YAHUSHA's words seem cold, we are given a choice to choose Him and gain life or not choose Him and lose life) Matthew 10:34-39 Again depth and meaning are different for everyone. I love this song and this is just what I interpret when listening to it. 🤗❤🌍 BARAK YAHUAH YAHUSHA L'OLAM 🙌 ♥

@NemoCee9 жыл бұрын
+Robert Peck Hi Robert, Glad this is inspiring you to learn more chords. They do great progressions. I pick these by ear, most pop songs stay within a few chords, even EWF, they use more colorful chords but nothing too out there. Jazz songs however present quite the challenge for me to pick by ear.

Also remember the David Baker books and the play-along books by James A (forgot the last name) When I moved, I tried to carry all my stuff with me, but I am not sure where all that material is now!
