Okay, I wasn't going to say anything, but I am a Fandom Old™ and tired of antis conflating real-life with fiction, so here we go. 1) Zuko and Katara are teenagers (arguably 17 and 15 respectively at this point in the series), not pre-pubescent kids. Teenagers in real-life are horny and like to experiment with their sexuality and have sex. Fictional teenagers even more so because they *not real* and are objects for the writer/vidder to play with. (Just to make a point here: There were absolutely 15-year-old freshmen/sophomores at my old high school who were having sex with other teens, protected or otherwise-to the point a lot of them had babies that were between a few months to one and three years old at the time of graduation at age 18. Given how teen pregnancy rates in the U.S. are higher than those of other "First World" countries and our sex ed system in general is absolutely awful, do not even try and tell me that real-life teenagers having sex with other teenagers doesn't happen, because I will not believe you.) 2) Okay, there's a sex scene between Zuko and Katara that lasts a few seconds (to the point you can blink and miss it). So what? They are *fictional characters,* are *not real,* are just lines on a sheet of paper that are put to animation and screen. Absolutely zero real-life teenagers or children were harmed in the making/editing of a fanvideo for a scene that, again, lasts only a few seconds. 3) The fandom rule has always been "You do you." Anything goes in fanworks and fandom. If fans want to make fanfics or fanart or fanvids of their ship having sex, that's fine. If they don't want to depict the characters having a sexual relationship, that's fine too. Not to mention fandom has *always* been predominately made up of horny, kinky women who are *also* often some form of queer or neurodivergent (or just want to explore our own sexuality-or asexuality, as it may be-through fiction and the lens of our favorite ships). Just look at the history of Star Trek fandom and the Kirk/Spock ship. 4) Fiction is not reality. Ship and let ship. Dead Dove: Do Not Eat. Don't Like; Don't Read/Watch. KINK Tomato (aka YKINMKATO aka Your Kink Is Not My Kink And That's Okay). And other sayings of fandom old.

I think after all Katara and Aang have been through they both deserve each other cuz they truly love each other so Kataang was meant to be endgame. But there is no doubt that Zutara did have some chemistry!!!! If Katara and Aang didn’t love each other then Zutara would’ve been my OTP. But the only reason I think they wouldn’t work is cuz 1) Zuko is bad with girls and 2) they are too alike. After the show ended, Katara says that she fell in love with Aang cuz of his childish and goofy personality. Zuko has no sense of humor and he is very stubborn and mature. So long story short I ship both but Kataang has to be my OTP

If I remember right some of the writers of the original series did actually PLAN on making zutara endgame, which is why they have important scenes together through out the seasons (Zuko capturing/fighting against Katara in season one and the cave scene in season 2 just to name a couple). They were also tossing around the idea of doing another season (Mike and Bryan the creators axed the idea in favor of that awful live action movie), if they had went ahead with the next season it would have been possible for Zutara to gain more screen time and possibly become canon. Plus it just seems more natural in my personal opinion, their age (I always found it weird that katara wanted to date the bald 12 year old lol), they both lost their mothers to the fire nation at a young age, both had absent fathers (albeit for completely different reasons), they have similar quick tempers while also being caring about those that are close to them, Zuko LITERALLY TOOK A LIGHTNING BOLT TO THE CHEST to save katara's life. I just felt their relationship even when I was a child made more sense than Kataang or Miako (I never liked how indifferent Mai was to Zuko). I'm sorry for writing so much I just wanted to give an explanation why I personally have shipped Zutara since childhood.
