The one thing Dennis couldn’t steal from Hicks was soul. Leary never had any soul, which is where genuine comedy music and art come from.

I remember being a huge Leary fan back in the day, bought No Cure for Cancer and listened to it while playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on Dreamcast. But then I read Amazon reviews of that album, and that's how I learned about his joke theft. I still enjoy The Ref every Christmas - too bad Leary AND Kevin Spacey are both in it.

I remember the shows he did on VH1, where he destroyed the Surreal Life House, and hollered like crazy at the other celebrities. That guy had SERIOUS anger issues back then.

Of course he was a little s**t when he was in his early 20s, rich, and famous. But he really has a lot of musical talent. He was found, not created so props for that. He is an amazing dancer too. He deserves some rest from the hate.

Great video. Was very fun seeing how well this was edited and very cool to see you credit the sources (including myself) for some of the footage. That almost never happens, so I'm very grateful!

I just remember Chris Kattan screaming "NO VANILLA!!"😅😂 The actual show the clip is from was great. Me and my friends used to love watching that countdown whenever it came on.

bruh, when i told my friends about this the other day, it was because we were listening to ice ice baby after all these years, and singing along because we know all the words. that definitely says something, doesn't it?

oh, stewart and kattan were the other two. i couldn't remember, but i couldn't forget leary and garrafalo were there, and i think leary was the one that got hit with that piece of the cut-out - i'm not there yet - instant comeback killer!

I remember watching it that weekend in 1999. They sat there and roasted that man nonstop, and he decided to put on a show and....IT WORKED. All that publicity gave Hard to Swallow a boost, hell, I OWN a copy.

Good for Vanilla Ice. Out of the Blue is a great song from a kid who had the music talent that all these clowns will never have. Trash the network who made him famous and then try to humiliate him like this.

I've always felt a little sad for Vanilla Ice; like he's been a punchline for so long now and it manifests in having this short, defensive temper; like, I know he has ADHD and I know first-hand how fiercely frustration builds when you have ADHD I hope he's in a more peaceful mental state these days because this man has seemed Very Not Okay for a long long time

I believe he is. This is just my opinion, but I think he downplays just how gotten to he was by the backlash. He had so many incidents of anger in the early 2000s
