When I was younger, I didn't really understand a lot of the more complex language and story that was going on, like the subplot of farmer hogget losing money on his farm or the dark themes associated with animal hierarchy and the fate of the farm animals in this story. Maybe Hollywood is some secretive, dark entity, responsible for everything from human trafficking to the corruption of our society's moral fibre... I don't know. What I _do_ know is that Hollywood simply does not turn out movies like this any longer; original IP's and intelligent scripts seem to have disappeared. We're left with sequels of sequels, awful 'soft reboots' and more comic book movies. At this point it's laughably bad. Thank heavens we have movies like this to remember. Hollywood used to turn out a handful of movies of this quality every year, actually. Even the horror movies were better then. They keep re-making Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but they just get progressively worse as the originals continue to be unsurpassable.

I'm a sound designer, and as a sound designer we talk about when and where it is appropriate to put in sound effects or music. I absolutely love how they added silence during the whole trial. Definitely heightened the scene in a very unique way since the crowd was laughing before it started. I also love it when the crowd starts cheering as soon as it's over and the triumphant music at that part. I feel it's a very powerful scene and ending.

The audience: Why did he bring a pig? That's impossible- Babe: *So anyway, I started herding* The message of this movie to never judge a book by its cover really hits me as someone with a disability. We may look or act different, but we are just as capable as everyone else of doing the same things. Just with a different approach. It is what's on the inside, that counts. And RIP Christine Cavanaugh, she did such a great job as the title character. One of the many voices of our childhoods

One thing that is not obvious is that the dogs don't know what to do. The handler is constantly whistling instructions to them. The dogs don't know about the collars the handler has to let the dogs know which sheep to separate. But Farmer Hoggett, just stood there.

Does anyone ever think how Babe is all about kindness and his genuine spirit in order to form a connection with these sheep, but this final contest is basically just him cheating to win by using the sheep’s passcode?
@nuraby_92284 жыл бұрын
Think of it this way, he unlocked the passcode because of his kindness and genuine spirit. If the sheep and dogs back at the farm didn't like Babe, they would have never gone to these kind of lengths to help him. Guarantee none of the other sheepdogs in the competition even knew of the existence of a password.
@KyleEvra2 жыл бұрын
Babe treated them as equals because of his kindness. Which allowed him to win.
@tamikoestomo32752 жыл бұрын
It was not "cheating to win". Babe received the password because of his sterling character and good heart. What goes round comes around. It is good karma.
@andyt2k2 жыл бұрын
Not cheating, the competition is about herding the sheep, doesn't say anything about how they have to do it, barking, nipping, yipping, running, none of that is in the rules

I watch Babe at least once a year ever since it came out. One of the greatest films ever made. It never gets old. It was robbed of the best picture Oscar in 1996 by Braveheart, which while a good film, is nowhere near the majestic level of Babe.

Five stars! The KZbin algorithm pulled another fast one on me and slipped this into my queue. I remember the acclaim "Babe" received when it was released - yet I wouldn't see it until years later when we got a copy on video cassette and I watched it with my niece. Instant classic. A couple of weeks ago, I spent hours compiling a list of my favorite movies: had intended to stop at 100, but exceeded 200. Watching this clip alerted me that I hadn't included "Babe." I claim I'm not a sentimental guy, but as I grow older, I tear-up quicker. These six minutes had me in tears as I recalled the maybe four times I've watched the movie and the great delight I experienced each time I saw it. Thank you!

It was this scene that inspired me to enter my beloved Belle (a young Shetland sheepdog) into an agility competition. I forgot about the competition and focused on my absolute faith in our partnership, knowing my Belle’s strengths and weaknesses. Not only did we win first place, we won the rare teamwork trophy. I’m proud to say Belle happily retired from competition afterwards and we were content for years before she sadly passed away. This scene brings me to tears bc my faith in Belle is identical to Hogget’s faith in “Pig”.
