Keep in mind that this movie is a work of fiction. The writer based his story off the gospel of philip which was found in 1945 and talks about jesus kissing Mary (as in mary magdalene). then you just make a conspiracy around it with the church suppressing the knowledge of it, especially considering that the bible were picked by the church to be canonical so who would know what wasn't picked.

Awesome movie....this version is as believable as the Roman Catholic religion
@tonyf.9806Ай бұрын
Funny thing is, the book and the movie are far more logical and believable than the actual religion if your read the bible using critical thinking and looking for holes in it, in addition to what we know about history and power. Theoretically, if marrying, making love, and having children was the secret to heaven, and if Jesus actually did have a child, do you honestly think the church would ever let that information get out. The catholic church alone is very rich, and requires people to believe that only though them can you have "life after death", even if there actually isn't anything after we die. Another word for all this, is cult. Many of the historical examples are wrong, either in when they happened or how, but much of it is true. Either way, decent thought experiment. If you were to find out your entire religion was a lie, everything you believed in about it, and it was all for others to obtain riches and power, would you turn away from it or continue believing, even with all the hard evidence you could ever imagine telling you it's a sham. What would you do.
@audiomachine31228 күн бұрын
That's why people usually become atheists. That is the very reason, they acknowledge that it is all for power.
@sst-du9bz28 күн бұрын
Actually the book, and by extension the movie, is not logical or believable at all. The entirety of “Da Vinci code” is based on this priory of sion which in itself is a hoax. Do a quick Google search then read the book again and you’ll see what kind of nonsense the whole thing is. Not a Christian here, I’m just speaking in terms of realism. Yes I know Browns books are fantasy but at least “angels and demons” was somewhat based on actual facts which made it easier to roll with his very far fetched conclusion. Da Vinci code on the other hand is based on a scam.

@@TheFiown Such an outstanding display of intellectual dysfunction!!! 🤣 This video and comment thread is about The Da Vinci Code directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou. As you now elaborate, Amelia Poulain is a character from another movie, but still not an actress. So, to your original comment, "Casting Amelia Poulain as Sophie....." Is just nonsensical. If you want to make a comment, try using the actual name of the actress, that is the name people recognise her by. This is the internet, it is global, and some obscure French foreign art and language film means very little outside of France. As for Audrey Tautou being "bankable", are you serious!!! 🙄 This film was based on one of the biggest selling novels of 2003, outsold only by J. K. Rowling's, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". This fact and Tom Hanks in the lead role is what made the film "bankable". Enjoy living in your little bubble world of isolation where only you know what you are talking about and where you refer to real people by characters they play in various movies. @@TheFiown Oh what a surprise, my reply to you has been deleted. So, for the record, here it is again, albeit precised. Referring to an actress by the name of a fictional character she portrayed in an obscure French foreign art and language film, or any other movie for that matter, as you have done, is just totally nonsensical. In the world of the global internet, that which exists outside France, people refer to actors and actresses by their name, not some fictions character they have played in other movies. The novel was one of the highest selling novels of 2003, outsold only by J. K. Rowling's, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This combined with Tom Hanks in the lead role is what made the film "bankable", not the casting of Audrey Tautou in the role of Sophie. In claiming you know what you are talking about, you might want to try demonstrating some intellectually logical evidence of that! 🙄
@TheFiown23 күн бұрын
@@andrewmgodden Well I didn't and couldn't 'delete' your reply for one. Secondly here in France Tautou is always referred to as Amelie Poulain or at least used to be around the years the movie came out as if often the case when actors play iconic roles. I didn't say that the movie was bankable because of Tautou but that she was as is often the case in Hollywood when an actor or actress has a big success they rush to profit from that and put them quickly into other movies straight away before they have time to be forgotten. In claiming you know what you are talking about, you might want to try demonstrating some intellectually logical evidence of that! Have a nice day any which way.
