Tubing in Kauai, A Bucket List Adventure with Kauai Backcountry Adventures, HI

Our first tubing adventure with Kauai Backcountry was 4 years ago. We had a blast doing it. It was such a unique adventure. Recently, when we had a chance to return to Kauai with Dustin's dad and uncle, we knew we had to take them there. This experience is a mix of beautiful scenery, flowing water through flumes and tunnels, exciting little waterfall drops, and a relaxing lazy river near the end. You also get a fun little history lesson and local tips from knowledgeable guides. And the best part is bananas. They have these delicious strawberry bananas at the home base. I swear that is the main reason Vy did the tour.

The Wife and I have been to Kauai many times since 2001. Never did the tubing, I thought it would be boring. This video changed my mind, we will check it out next time. Have you ever done the Hanakapiai Falls hike? This was our fave, I am getting too old to do it again!

That's awesome! Happy early anniversary! Yeah, definitely be sure to check out some of our other videos because we have recommendations on snorkeling spots and a couple of hikes. I would also recommend the zip lines. It might be a little bit intense, but as you go along you do get closer to the ground so as long as you can get past the first one you should be okay. We hope you guys have an amazing trip.

We did this on our last trip to Kauai. This is not for the claustrophobic! The dark tunnels can get crowded and I panicked when we all came to a halt in the dark. That said, the rest of my family LOVED this tour and will do it again when we visit this summer. I’ll hang out and eat pineapple/banana bread while I wait for them.

I am mildly claustrophobic. But really only in tight places. How long do they stop you inside the tunnel and how long does it take to go through the longest tunnel?

@@majorsnuffy5747 Im not super crazy about tight spaces either. It isn't all that tight in there. I believe that you can put your arms up and still have room to spare. They only stopped us for a minute or two, and most of that time we had our lights turned off so you couldn't tell how small the space was. If I had to guess your in the tunnel for like 4 minutes max.

I don't remember the exact length of the longest tunnel but it is pretty long. I'm a little claustrophobic too and it didn't bother me at all. You are moving almost the whole time so it doesn't feel small.

It's hard to say because you are in the tube the entire time, but the guides are usually walking along so it can't be that deep.

There is a lot to do throughout the whole state but some top recommendations would be Rocky Mountain National Park, Glenwood springs and the surrounding areas, and also Durango and Silverton are very beautiful.

Hey Joyce! The headlight is provided and attached to the helmet. An you need is a bathing suit, sunscreen and water shoes.

Hey Douglas! You might want to call them to see if they allow it, But i might warn you against it. The tunnels can get a tiny bit chaotic and you probably wouldn't want to bang your toes into the wall in the dark.

We are doing this in about 3 weeks. I don't like tight places and I'm scared to panic and ruin the experience. How long the tunnels are? Does the air inside feels heavy?

I'm not a huge fan of right spaces either. It really didn't feel too bad. There is plenty of fresh air in there so that shouldn't be a problem either we have more info including info about the tunnels on our website 😁👍

Given the fact that the whole ride was mostly mellow with plenty of support along the way, the ladder was more of a joke. No one in our group was offended. I'm sure most people wouldn't either. If you have a problem with how they name things, maybe give the company a call. Since we don't own the Kauai back country, there's not much we can do...

I've never heard of this but it does look fun. Also, the name "ladder of shame" is horrible, because there could be someone who might need to get out at that point for medical reasons and they shouldn't be mocked for it. "Ladder of no shame" would be much better.

I don't think it would be too scary. It obviously differs from kid to kid though. we have seen kids on it before and they always seemed to be having a great time. There are guides there so they should be able to keep an eye on them. I hope this helps 😁🤙
