You are so correct. They are a good reason that music is the universal language. I have been loving YMO for over 40 years now and even though I didn't know them I actually felt emotional when you wrote that Ryuichi and Yukihiro had passed away. I was not aware. Thank you for your message

@@marriagereconciliationplaybook Thank you for your message too. from Japan.YMO is forever.
One of my favourite songs of YMO. It's a shame that they are pretty underrated, expecially in western countries. Their sound is so futuristic, innovative and refreshing.
Incredible, pioneering track. YMO really knows how to hit you deep in the soul like few other synth bands do.

Those synths sound so wild and layered it's nuts even by today's standards.

I, who am Japanese, translate the lyrics into English: ★ I can't sing this beautiful love song now. I would like to say goodbye to me because I have been going my way alone. I have been running my way and got exhausted. I can't stay here any longer. I would like to say goodbye to what I used to be. ●This song was composed when Mr. Sakamoto's daughter was born, and was dedicated to her. "Kai-koh" means "encounter" .

@@joemuis23 Somehow I knew it was about love, but this is just so much deeper. I thought sayonara was to his old love, and in a way it was, he was saying farewell to what he was, as he will now become something else, enhanced by the "encounter" with his daughter and the miracle of life; simultaneous making us feel tiny, and still making our hearts grow larger Thank you @_ dogcat400 for the translation. Have a great day

this song is so beautiful, it fills me with love and makes me want to cry happy tears every time
This is filling in a lot of blanks for me, sort of the way Wire and The Fall did when I first heard them. One sound that clearly took a lot from this is early Magnetic Fields.
Beautiful nostalgic high energy. Remarkable that they only sing twice in this one. I hear Sakamoto's bell synths from Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence. Love the intro- what's that rapid experimental sound in the left and right pan? Bill Nelson's guitar? You can certainly hear his E-BOW later on in the background. Are they singing about saying goodbye?
