I have a 2023 Silverado LT Trail Boss Z71, using it as a work truck 6500 k so far, ARE Cap on the back, I am old school V8 or V10 or diesel guy but I did my research, so far this 2.7 turbo is like a little Diesel engine, I am haling bed weight at about 950 LBS, and the rear of the truck started to sage some so I added air suspension to the rear to level back to factory ride, I am not heavy on the peddle and am averaging 19.4 MPG but with 93 Octane and I have found that this (for me anyway) runs best at 70 MPH on the highway cruise control, MD area, I did buy when we purchased the truck with the extended warranty Bumper to Bumper for 8 years because the engine is still so new (3rd gen) but honestly if I have no issues with this engine then I will purchase it again, changing times and technologies with vehicles and in the field as I see, hope this helps.

Hey I currently have 28000 miles on my 22 crew cab 4x4 with a 2.7. It will do everything my 2018 with a 5.3 with better fuel economy. So far zero issues. Unlike my 5.3 with collapsed lifters at 60,000 miles. Luckily it was fixed under warranty but before you hate on the 2.7 take it for a drive. You do lose about 400 pounds towing but you gain almost 300 pounds payload.

I actually just bought that truck. I don't tow anything, but I did need something to haul kayaks bikes and the random oversized items one may need along with my dogs. They love riding. I was about to purchase the Colorado, but it felt so small. This truck is perfect for someone like myself.
@jimmycline4778 Жыл бұрын
The Colorado Trail Boss is a midsize but it’s far from small, compare it to a 05 full-size Silverado, it’s not as wide but several inches taller ,thicker, funny you called it SO SMALL, it’s not to big, not to small just right, now a S10 or first gen Colorado is small! I think Silverados are just a little to big and gawky, but they still look good!

For contrast, the 2011 5.3 Silverado I had (ended up being an oil-eater) was rated at 315 HP and 335 ft./lbs. of torque and it ran fine. No this T-4 engine doesn't sound like a V-8 but it also hopefully won't have the internal engine issues the 5.3s had/have. It remains to be seen how they hold up through the years and miles.

I think mentally the truck should have been a v6 with all of these features. I test drove a 2.7 and rented the v8, and I can feel the difference. th 2.7 seems fast and light on its feet, where as that v8 feels like its pulling a house. The truck i rented i loaded it with concrete until it started to drag the ground(Atleast 3000lbs) and that thing pulled like nothing. Me coming out of the 195hp v6 that 2.7 would be a big improvement.

I want to buy an RV but I don't know if this vehicle can tow an RV or not? If so, what is the maximum weight of an RV? My Truck: Brand new 2024 Gvwr=7,000lbs. Gcwr=14,500lbs. Rgawr=38,000lbs. Maxpayload=1,966lbs. Curbweight=5,034lbs. Conventional TWR=9,000lbs. Max tongue weight=900lbs. Gooseneck TWR=8,900lbs. Max tongue weight=1,335lbs. Gawr FRT=3,800lbs. Gawr RR=3,800lbs. Tire size: FRT=RR=265/65R18 T. (rim 18x8.5J) SPA=265/70R17 S (rim 17x8J). Font=Rear=Spare=240 kPa, 35Psi. So, Can my truck (GVWR=7,000lbs) tow an RV/Trailer with a maximum load of 9,000lbs? If possible, please post more videos of the Silverado 1500 2.7l, 4-cylinder truck pulling an RV trailer. Thanks

Hi, at the end of the Video you talk about reliability of the 2.7 compared to the V8,you must be expressing an opinion rather than fact because the engine is pretty new and there is NO data to back up your OPINION.
@timdeleij7105 Жыл бұрын
I think it's generally safe to say the more complex a design is the less reliable it will be. Also it's been proven the more power you try to squeeze out of a small engine will negatively effect engine longevity. The V8 is an old school engine. Very basic they will last 200000 miles or more with basic upkeep. Look at Ford. The V8 5.0 outlasts any eco boost. Also anything turbo charge will have higher down the road maintenance costs.

@@StartVisit Right now I am still running the factory Grabbers on factory 17s. I have made a few 300 mile camping trips and have zero complaints. A tire with a D or E rating are good for towing loads. Eventually I will get BFGoodrich T/A KO2's. I have those on my 02 Silverado and my 08 Tahoe. Those are D and E rated, (I think wheel size plays into how the tire can be rated). The KO2's are excellent winter tires too. They are amazing on ice and snow, and are actually considered to be "traction devices". Crazy.

Just seen this video and that Trail Boss is very nice truck for looks and a road trip. Me? I'd never ever own a truck of size with a 4 cylinder motor. Trucks should come with nothing less than a V8 or V6 if its a diesel. And to me, a V6 diesel is pushing it.
@PitPwny Жыл бұрын
The four cylinder doesn’t even break a sweat moving a full size truck (the 2023 Silverado 1500 weighs 500lbs more then a 2023 Tacoma). Engine mostly sits at 1200-1500rpm when driving like a normal person. Biggest downside is towing mileage. If you’re the type that need to tow 9000lbs all the time, go diesel. As far as the V8’s go, the 4 cylinder is keeping up with them, no issue, so far. There could be longevity issues, but lots of these motors are getting to 50k with no issues at all, so maybe not.
