I want to thank you Mike. I was in a situation where I had to move halfway across the country from Florida to Texas. Everything changed. Everything was different and even a tad bit scary. Texas is lovely and the people are great, just uncomfortable not knowing anyone or anywhere, no friends, etc. Then I turn on a That Chapter video, and I feel calm, at home, familiar. A familiar face and voice. Thanx for being a consistent part of my ever changing life. 🙏 What you do matters!!😊OK: The amount of people who don’t know basic geography is really discouraging!! From one side of the country to the other coming from Florida is Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, TEXAS, New Mexico, Arizona, California.. Tell me how Texas isn’t half way!? IT IS.

Great to hear a story from Germany. Birgit’s brother was a policeman who spent his whole career on trying to find his sister. He never gave up on her. If it wasn’t for him I think her whereabouts would still be a mystery.

You're probably right. Sad that her brother had to put in all the work. But fortunately he was a police officer, sure he could get a little more done + more info then a lay person would. This world can be such an awful place.

I imagine there were a lot of people that wanted to tear that property to pieces after the "will" that was left behind. Probably just took many years to wait for it to come into the ownership of someone who would allow them to do so. They definitely didn't have enough for a search warrant to excavate the entire property.

Important fact of finding Birgit was that her brother never gave up on her. After he retired from a high rank police job, he built a special unit and worked on that cold case. The house was sold and the new owners let them dig in the Garage. So the brother found his missing sister …😢

@@sweetmissypetuniawilson9206Germany’s population vs US population is a more accurate statistic. Square miles doesn’t really have much to do with murder rate. The population of Germany is 25% the population of the US, so you’d expect the murder rate to be 25% (or 1/4) of the US’s rate but this person is saying it’s 1/8 (or 12.5%) of the US’s.

Good job on the Nahanni Valley story. You’re 100% right, very often stories like this get, shall we say, stretched, beyond the original reality. I wouldn’t call myself a “woodsman”, but I’ve spent a fair amounts of time in nature, and the account of finding the two headless corpses after 3 years, completely intact except for the missing skulls, really doesn’t hold water. In a wild area like that, so much available meat would never have been wasted by the creatures that call it home. The scavengers would have gnawed and scattered the bones. The body lying headless with the arm outstretching for the weapon he wasn’t able to reach, the ring still on his finger, makes a great story, but just is something that’s not congruent with reality. But people are always more attracted to a good story than a boring reality.

What you seriously need is a personal locater beacon if you are going camping, hiking, horseback riding, ATV riding, you get my drift. They make great gifts as well for your outdoor enthusiasts as they could save their life or possibly the lives of others. And for smaller ones, get something called RECCO tape and place it on them where they can't get it off, this is picked up easily by FLR rescue helicopters. I am in no way affiliated with either of these devices, I am just trying to keep people safe is all.

I suppose more when when it comes to the Highway of Tears cases, such as the Amber Tuccaro case. So I dunno what is going on with that organization, but man...just hearing that something went down in that cabin, but no actual investigation was conducted, just seems like they went out there, looked around, and were like...yep drowned and starved. Good job boys lets go home. Obv, I know that not everyone in the RCMP is like that...but damn their track record thus far is sus. The first case, in an old forest, reminds me of a series of fantasy books I loved growing up. The first main book in the series is Mythago Wood. Its the idea that the oldest forests, especially in the middle, retain mythic figures & mythic times within them. It starts with a man trying to map the strangeness. Its a very cool series.

You could honestly do an entire series on the Nahanni Valley. I did a month long research project on that area and the amount of different things that have happened in that valley is genuinely insane. Evil makes it sound mystical, as in unfixable. This is a behavioral, culture, ism problem, and throw in enabling to cement the deal. Now you've got some place to start but for some reason society doesn't though I suspect it's because we live in a patriarchal world and to be blunt, too many men believe they are entitled to sexual gratification. Unfortunately violence comes from the same part of the brain that sexual stimulation comes from in the male brain. That is an over simplification but you get the drift.
