The Harrison family of Mississauga, Ontario, had very bad luck. So bad, that over the span of four years, three of them would meet their end in the same house under very similar circumstances. When the last happened, the police finally looked at the couple they had been fighting with for years, Melissa Merritt and Chris Fattore.

I feel bad for Caleb's kid(s?). Imagine growing up and having your grandpa die, then grandma just the year after, and then to have your dad get beaten to death, only to find out it was your psycho mom and her beau trying to get you all to themselves. What a freaking mind trap.

I think you can add the apparently constant manipulative behaviour of the mother which certainly brought issues for all future relationships of these children.

I wanted to say thank you for getting this out more. I had known Caleb and his family since I was a boy, I even worked at MFD with Caleb and Melissa when they first met. He was a great guy and his two boys came first before anything in his life. He had a great relationship with his parents. His mother and father were great as well, they would be the first to offer anything you needed. Melissa was crazy from the start including how she use to tell Caleb how she couldn't have kids of her own due to medical issues and she wanted to adopt. This had a special place in his heart because he could give some child a life like he was given, but months later... She was pregnant. Watching Caleb become a father was... Next level. Being a father was his dream, he put his family and boys before everything and everyone. Melissa on the other hand didn't like the fact that the boys were now the centre of attention and the boys idolized their father. Caleb was never a huge drinker till she kicked him out and tried to take the kids from him. Sure he would have a few drinks from time to time like any of us but never like he did after that. Her taking the kids crushed him. And Chris stepped into the picture within days of her kicking Caleb out. Chris was manipulated by her from the start, he was easily distracted as a meathead... Just a big guy without to much of anything else. That poor guy was seduced by her and manipulated into doing her bidding. I hope the boys never want to see Melissa again even though she's their mother. I wish we had the death penalty here so Melissa and Chris would both hang. Chris for doing it and her for being the puppet Master behind all of it, she is the true face of evil. For anyone that wants to know, Caleb's boys are with Caleb's aunt and uncle and are doing well.

Thank you for this comment about Caleb and I'm relieved to know that his boys are together, safe and being well cared for. This case is sad for a number of reasons and it's also infuriating to know that the police could've stopped the mom and Caleb from being murdered had they actually investigated the father's death. Instead they chose to overlook the obvious probably because Melissa's family being Police officers and as far as I'm concerned, that police investigators all have blood on their hands and they should be charged with a corruption and 2nd degree murder.
@LordWebsta

She mentions her motive, suggests a natural means for Bridget's death while also attempting to gain sympathy for herself by talking about how 'sick' she's been, and stresses the idea of Caleb murdering his mother while blatantly trying to make it look like she's not stressing it. I grew up in Brampton, just up the road from Mississauga. It gave me a shiver when Mike mentioned the Peel Regional cops. They were not highly regarded as investigators even back in the day. In high school, as teenagers we all learned early to be afraid - very afraid - of them. We all knew they had places they'd take you for a ride to and teach you about "law and order" because we all knew someone who'd been through it with them. It doesn't sound like things have gotten better there...

She doesn't think she's doing anything wrong, because she didn't do the actual crimes, only planned them. They were obviously not, especially not once Caleb had them alone, single male with custody? the court only needs a slight hint of maltreatment and they'll have no hesitation in taking the kids from him. "I'm not going to point fingers, butttt maybe Caleb smashed her head into a door and then chocked her for 4 - 6 minutes, I mean I don't knowwww" Man this case is such a shame, so many opportunities for the police to stop this.

@@fluffychan6000 Exactly, I thought the same thing. Melissa had a father and brother who were cops but the behaviour of the police department is unbelievable. The coroner seemed hopeless as well but perhaps he was encourage NOT to find evidence of murder. Sickening isn't it. If they had only done their job two people's lives could have been saved. Shocking.

Her whole family was Law Enforcement. That's why nothing was ever looked into too closely. They didn't want to know, most likely. And i don't believe for one second, that Melissa didn't know anything until after the fact. She seemed to me, to be the constant agitator and instigator, for everything that happened. She never let up on the hateful drama for one second, in all those years. She literally drove her husband right around the emotional bend, with her constant badgering, whining, wailing, and gnashing of teeth! The only thing she didn't do, was rend her clothing, and wear sackcloth and ashes, and i'm not so sure she didn't resort to that too! There's nothing more ugly, or more damaging, than a spiteful, selfish person, who just has to have their own way, regardless of who gets hurt! And what really sucks, was her bullshit was all based on spiteful, selfish LIES. The evidence of her malicious machinations, was evident with every false Police Report she filed!
