My husband is a descendant of Alexander Pearce. My family and I were on a holiday in Strahan in January 2023, we went on the Gordon River tour to Sarah island, there is a lot more to the story of Alexander. We went to Corinna to The Pieman River, so much history with the area, and it's true, the forests out that way are so thick, some parts have not been touched by humans ever.

@@louiseventer6580 It gets insanely cold here in our winter, but for the most part everyone is prepared for it. What's going on in South Africa? Depending on which media outlet I check out they make it sound like your country is one bad day from becoming a Mad Max film. I am always skeptical, so I just wanted to see if I was right in thinking that the media is full of crap. Is South Africa really on the brink of collapse or is the media exaggerating the situation due to their love of reporting doom and gloom?
@louiseventer6580
@louiseventer6580 Жыл бұрын
@@nooodles939 🤣🤣Hi, thanks for asking! I think we've become so used to being on the brink of imploding...but somehow manage to just pull away from it. Truthfully, our government has put us in a tight spot between two superpowers - America and Russia. I mean seriously, South Africa is a tiny country, why get involved with the big boys? During the dark days of Apartheid the people fighting it was supported by Russia. Now Russia is holding it over our heads. Putin wants to come here, but we have to arrest him as soon as he steps into the country. He declared that it will be a declaration of war if we arrest him. If we don't arrest him America and the rest of the world will come down on us like a ton of bricks...so thanks for that government. Other than that, there was a huge explosion (we think it was an underground gas explosion) in Johannesburg, other than that the South African spirit carries on and smile and joke our way through the dark. What's going on in your side of the world?

The only ones I listen to the ones with Keith as they're the only ones which cover an actually new topic/subject. His others are basically 2 of his normal shows joined together but done in a more relaxed style and without the visuals so I can't really be bothered to listen to them. I'd rather go back and watch them on his normal channel again as he covers them better and you get the visuals. However the ones he does with Keith are brilliant, great fun and interesting new stories and the 2 of them really bounce off of each other. You can tell how long they've been friends as they have a really solid understanding of each others humor, knowledge and how to get the most out of the other. I really wish that Mike would scrap the podcast on his own and start doing every episode with Keith doing the slightly different topic of historical crime as they've mostly done together. It really works with their humor which modern crime wouldn't as it would seem a bit more disrespectful. The distance of time let's them let lose without offending people. That way if it was always Mike and Keith with historical crimes they could maybe occasionally bring in totally new guests both from history side and the crime side or just someone who's really spent their time studying that particular case. Just an idea but something I'd definitely listen to every time, maybe a totally new podcast/channel so he keeps every side of his audience happy.

LOL I live in Brasil and 19 degrees down here at the beach is winter! it's supposed to be winter down here and it is 28 degrees today...ugh!! I miss winter having grown up in the US. But living on the beach in Brasil is not a bad thing at all. On another and much more serious note, it is horrible how humans have treated each other over the centuries and as we see by your videos, continue to do. Take care and thanks for all the hard work and a good dose of silliness to break the tension and horror of some of these stories.

I was born in 1974 & when I was 8 my old man decided we should create & operate our own small, 1 ring circus. We were also Quakers, & he was a gay man, so part of his desire was to have a very ethical show, & so we did various shows for unique audiences like mental hospitals, or as a fundraiser for a school, & he agreed to do a show for a local prison. A couple of the inmates were given permission to help us set up the tent. Everything went well, the show was great, the prison was pleased, but my old man realized as we were packing up that 50 feet of rope had vanished. I don't know whether he reported it to the prison or not but he did tell me later that a guy escaped.

That was quite entertaining to have two complementary storytellers. I have more appreciation for Pierce's involuntary tragic ending than Captain Ahab's voluntary descent into insanity from Moby Dick. But I think it has to do more with my contempt against whaling than cannibalism. Thanks gentlemen for keeping me company after work.

There has been 65,000 years of human occupation, with around 200 clans and language groups covering landscapes from tropical to snow and deserts and everything in between. Australia was already occupied when colonization occurred. The original people handled it like bosses. Look up Wills and Burke.
