My wife was gone for a week when I went down and picked up my 2003 marauder, she was pissed when she came home and saw it in the garage and after all these years she still can’t believe I did it. Now at 68 years old my wife and I both have a smile on our face when we’re cruising around in it. Still remember getting my 04 Marauder in the fall of 2011 during senior year of HS. Dad's budget was least around 8 grand, but had alot of drawbacks and rejected nearly every choice I had for months; no 4 cylinder what so ever, nothing before 2000, no SUVs or Trucks, no coupes, no manual, nothing performance wise. Had to think outside the box cause it was to be also my auto class project, so after rummaging through many Detroit and Dearborn car lots and swimming through the Cadillacs, supercharged Bonnevilles, Impalas, Monte Carlos, Buicks, beat up euro luxury cars, etc., I finally spotted it hoisted on a ramp at a small Dearborn car dealer lot while passing by. Immediately fell in love with it especially how unique it looks; Red, stock chrome wheels, fresh tinted windows, trunk and roof mounted spoiler, gold Marauder lettering on bumper, smoked taillights with body colored covers w/slits. Ended up being little over $8600 including fees and registration with 73k miles.

@@j.a.g.8689 I own one as well it really is just very aggressive transmission tuning for instance it will down shift into first gear at 30 miles an hour. There are some other small tweaks though. it has a much looser torque converter, more aggressive rear gears (that absolutely kill fuel economy 20 MPG highway if you're lucky). They also adjusted the fuel tables for fleet use. It has a decently powerful low end below 2500, nothing in the middle. Then at 3750 it goes berserk and pulls to redline (5200) for high-speed pursuits. What really makes its money is the amount of aggression that occurs at 3700 RPM full throttle in second gear when the torque converter locks. 50-70 will have you swearing that you have over 300hp They gave it a 200amp alternator (157@idle), increase the idle RPM (800) to ensure good coolant, and oil flow when idling for 8 hours a day. And an oil cooler. It has a 1 inch lift, heavy duty lower control arms. High spring rate rear springs for the trunk loads that are typically carried. And aggressive "pursuit rated" front brake pads. I love mine in the same way that I used to love Pontiacs before they died. they took a normal car and let a performance engineer make small tweaks that make it really feel like it's trying to impress you. Love the sound of the DOHC 4.6L engines! I have Borla S-Type catback with Kooks longtube headers and X-pipe on my '04 Mach 1 and it sounds amazing! Definitely sounds better than any Coyote Mustangs that I've heard. Love the power and efficiency of the Coyote though.

I love my Marauder. Had it since new. Better get after the rust on cross over tube. Marauder specific part that’s very expensive to replace. Easy to save. Braided SS brake lines will make world of diff on brakes. If it barks second gear either has j mod or 4:10 gears Or both.

I always wanted a marauder. When they came out I had a built fox body. to me it would’ve been awesome to have the 2 door and 4door mustang at the same time. Even a few years back I bought a mercury grand marquis. It had a lot of the same stuff as the marauder without the center council. It was very clean I was coming to do a cobra swap on it to build my version of a marauder and eventually didn’t do it because the car was slow but very nice to drive.

I have an 02 Grand Marquis that I'm building up. Not quite Maurauder status since they came out in 03. I have a 4.6 litre V8. My car is damn near a duplicate of this car. I'm a sleeper fan so after cool air induction and some upgrades I should be off and running. Keep the videos coming.

The marauder is such a cool name for a car. I think ford should take that name and make something crazy with it.

To be exact, the engine is the SVT cobra mustang MINUS the supercharger. Its exactly the same on the inside. Rebuilt one from the ground up just recently. Forged internals from Ford. 251k miles on it before the timing chain tensioner "guides" (made of a composite plastic) failed.
@banneddamn4 жыл бұрын
No its not the exact same as a terminator cobra engine. Pretty much the only thing the same is the heads. These basically got the automatic mach 1 engines with a different intake lid. Wap aluminum block, cast crank, crack capped rods and cast pistons.

One of my all-time favorite cars was the T-bird Super Coupe. 3.8 liter pushrod twin-supercharged V6. 210 hp. 5-sp manual. Super stiff suspension. Beautiful car. Circa 1991. I sold them. I wish you would review one of them. Super rare. Very few were sold, as the Mustang GT and LX were very popular.

I have an '02 GM LSE and think it does pretty good for a large car and would love to have a Marauder. I wish I had never sold my black on black 2nd gen Taurus SHO. I originally bought it for my nephew but, when I realized the car did 70 in 2nd gear with 5 speed manual I thought better of that and kept it for myself. Too much power for a 16 year old. Yamaha originally built that motor with 5 valves like their FZR750 Genesis motorcycle motor and it had 300 BHP but, Ford thought that was too much for FWD and they told Yamaha to de-tune so they built a 4 valve head and dropped power to 225 which was still fast. That car had a ton of features to make it comfortable and it handled very nicely.

Even with its weak Opti(ive never had issu with) love my SS. if you ever come back to Qc, Canada. ill let you drive a 96 SS has Headers Dual 2.5" H pipe 3.73 gears oh and line lock. not the perfect exemple out there. but it gets the job done. 😁 Aka summer daily and parked outside in the snow right now because its winter. there is like 4' of snow on it. 🤷♂️

To answer your question at the end of the video Ford really screwed the pooch when they didn't give it the 5.0 when it came out. Ford said it would be too expensive to redo the electronics in order to integrate stability control which the panther never had. Bear in mind this is the same company that in 2003 completely redid the frame with hydraform steel, rack and pinion steering, and a completely redesigned rear suspension. The platform had already paid for itself, if ford came out with a 5.0 crown Victoria I honestly believe with that powertrain and a modern transmission that they could have competed directly with the Dodge Charger and they would still be around today. hell when they gave the Mustang 3.7 L they could have done the same thing to the crown Vic. The Mustang platform in the crown Victoria are so similar it would have been way too easy to just transplant powertrains. Imagine an SVT crown Victoria with the 5.8 Trinity from the GT500. Or in more realistic terms the 2.7 liter EcoBoost from the F-150.
