As a Steelers fan, I think your evaluation of TJ passes the eye test. Watching the games, it doesn't feel like TJ is hounding the quarter back almost every play, but when he does win, he absolutely makes the most of it.

Its a good list. Almost conforms to that scatter graph of edge rushers double team rate in relation to how quick they win. Even in those type of advanced metrics that measure the success of an edge rusher, Garrett is blowing out the top guys out of the water this year. So I always saw him as his own tier this year. Then guys like Nick Bosa, Crosby, TJ Watt and Parsons as elite with what else they add to the defense.

i've never seen a tier list so overwhelmingly agreed on LOL if chase young ranks where you placed him, there's a decent chance he will extend with the niners, so i'll take it! i also agree that drake jackson showed some great flashes and will eventually shape out into a true #2 by the end of his rookie contract, especially under coach kocurek!

I think I do like the way you did the qb tiers a little more just because you can get across more of an idea of where the player falls in relation to each other when you’re revealing them in chunks then explaining. I think you're definitely underrating byron young's potential. Not sure why his age disqualifies him from being a future number 1 if he has those elite athletic traits and is still learning the game

Really interested to know if your perspective on Aidan Hutchinson has changed. Are you worried at all by his low sack count? Do you think his numbers are getting artificially inflated by late wins on high effort plays? Lions fan and obviously a huge fan of his but I do see him disappear from games as a pass rusher, which you usually don’t see from those Tier 1 EDs.

I keep seeing Oweh as trending the right way. Yeah that has been the story from his rookie year, yet? The #s are average at best. Van Noy and Clowney benefitted from a great scheme. I seriously doubt they will replicate that production again. Ravens front 7 is going to need someone to step up because Mads is going to see a ton of double teams.

I haven't watched much of Bradley Chubb this year, but one thing I know he used to do in Denver that doesn't show up on stat sheets is get frustrated and then commit really dirty personal fouls out of anger. There were a number of times on those struggling Denver teams that he would get frustrated and just late hit QBs and receivers who had gone out of bounds. Lots of diving at people with his helmet lowered too. Morality aside, it was a tendency that used to take bad situations and make them 15 yards worse.

The Lions indicated that they want to move James Houston to outside LB to see if they can keep him on the field for at least 2 downs, but he suffered a fibular fracture week 2 and has been out ever since. It'll be interesting to see if he can make that transition

Love the video! Hate Josh Sweat’s ranking. Look at the PFF numbers, he’s way up there. Similar to Josh Allen, Sweat has made significant improvements every single year since he was drafted. Personally think he belongs up in the “Could be a #1, ideally a #2” tier.

Where would you have Marcus Davenport for the Vikings? Been injured most of the year, currently on IR, but has had a couple sacks when he played. I’d probably say he’s a low-end true #2 considering how injured he’s been recently.

I’m absolutely a biased Steelers fan, but I’d still say TJ is equal to Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons. His play by play consistency is not as good, but he has splash plays at a much higher rate than Garrett and Parsons. Just my opinion though

Danielle Hunter 3 years ago would probably be the top tier despite having a career year this year. He was the fastest guy to 50 sacks and had a long career ahead of him before injuries

I think by next year you’ll have Hendrickson and Gary in the Elite tier. As a packers fan I may be a little biased but I think Gary should be there right now. I think he’s just in a different situation than some of those other guys up there around him because he is coming off that ACL injury but I think he’s in that elite tier personally.

Gary could be just with his physical traits and he's still relatively young while finally putting his game together. Hendrickson I feel is just a very good bull rusher. But there are games where if his matchup can contain that bull rush, he doesn't really do much and its up to someone else to win. Plus he's sort of in his prime so he doesn't really have a higher ceiling he can crack given the skillset he's been working with for over 5 years now.

Hutchinson up until the last game against Chicago had 4.5 sacks, and went like a month without getting any. I say this as a 9ers fan, Walker had one get robbed from him in the San Francisco game, he should have 5. Hutch should definitely have gone ahead of Walker, but I don't think he's proven he's a #1 yet, he's debatably Detroit's best pass rusher, with what McNeil is doing rn.

Pure eye test with Landry he's just been invisible this year. Sucks because he was a really fun player before the injury and I'm sure he's getting cut this off-season. Most Titans fans think only think of offensive line and WR as needs but edge is a HUGE one

I may agree but I never thought of Landry as that key EDGE piece for the Titans. Since he has on/off seasons. When their defense ranked like top 5 in pressures back in 2021, it was the same core with Bud Dupree and vets like Autry who may have had his best season in the last years of his prime. Along with Landry and Simmons having monster seasons. I think they may need more consistent pieces outside of Landry/Simmons who are the long term guys to reach those high pressure results.

you forgot Leonard Floyd on the bills. who i would put as a true #1. i know your off on the bills because of Vons injury but Floyd took his place and is playing at the level Von was playing before he got hurt last year. Floyd has been amazing this year. Also Von still has his brace on and i dont think its fair to evaluate him until that comes off which will probably be after the bills bye week in week 13. It would have been better if you put Floyd on this list instead of Von Miler. EDIT: also i would put Von as a #4. would need his own tier because he not even good as a designated pass rusher to this point.
