You should do a series where you re-visit your grades 5 years later as well. Very often (especially with late round picks) it takes more than two/three year for these guys to make an impact in the NFL.

I agree, but I would say 4 years since that would encompass the entirety of these players' rookie contracts. Seems like a good checkpoint to evaluate, "Are you still in the league? Did you get a second contract?"

@@carson2258 Yes. And the majority of day 3 players wouldn't take much time either, since most will be either minimal impact players or out of the league entirely. It's a perfect opportunity to highlight standouts from days 2 and 3, as well as true busts and disappointments from the first couple rounds

It would be helpful if you put a symbol next to the name if they are still on the team. Maybe instead of color-coding the letter grades, apply a color based whether they are on the team as a starter, on the team as a backup, on the practice squad, on another team, or out of the league.

Jimmer was purely a college game guy. Worst part is he had a helluva ego too. Reddick at least took the criticism well despite being known as a scorer/shooter from Duke who wasn't athletic enough, worked on his defense and off-ball game and turned a very long and productive NBA career. At least China was treated to what BYU saw of Jimmer's 3-ball.

To That FranchiseGuy, I like that you are honest with Fields, and stand by your film observations. As a bears fan who wants this team to be competitive and be a dynasty every day, I will be supportive of my quarterback, but I too will try to see what he needs to grow on. The day fields went to us was one of the best days of my life. I want him to bring us to the promise land. But I don’t want to be blinded by the hype and ignore all the times he shows issues.

Love the content. One observation that may or may not help with your overall team analysis accuracy: whenever you have 2 or more players picked in the same position group by the same team, the odds of both of them being quality decreases substantially since there are only so many snaps to go around. Take the Bengals for instance, you gave Ossai and Sample both A+ ratings. I think its pretty tough to have two #1 quality edges come out of the same draft. Idk, how youd incorporate this feedback, but you can certainly cut yourself some slack as long as 1 of them hit. Just food for thought! Looking forward to the deep dives!

This is a real good look at things, for sure. For the Seahawks though, I didn't like the Eskridge pick either at the time. As for the other two, Brown looked to be heading in a very positive direction his rookie year before injury and then was just okay when he came back in 2022. With Forsythe, even though it was just preseason, it's hard to get the image of him getting annihiliated by Clelin Ferrell out of my head sometimes, but the action he saw in 2022, he seemed much improved. Not saying he'll be in the Pro Bowl or anything, but I think the Seahawks class deserves a bit more credit than you're giving. C+ haha, let's revisit in a few more years.

I was so freaked out when the Vikes traded out of 14 after Darrisaw got there, and then elated when they picked him at 23. I didn't understand the Mond, Surratt or Davis picks at the time especially when OL Ben Cleveland, Meinerz, Humphrey were all accessible, or DBs like Deablo, St Juste, Adebo, Molden and DLs like Odigizuha, Ossai, McNeill, Rashad Weaver, Cam Sample. Harsh on Fields without giving much, if any, consideration to the severe lack of supporting cast and the fact the defense the first two years couldn’t stop a MAC team. Also, the bears hypothetically opting for a 5’10 200lb QB makes even less sense in hindsight with what they were able to do with the capital from the trade with Carolina

I'll just comment on my team, Washington, b/c I know them. 1) Jamin Davis(LB) - Davis wasn't just bad, he was unplayable until about a third of the way into last year when he really started improving quickly. He still isn't really a playmaker though. He's just decent. This season will really determine how he's viewed. 2) Sam Cosmi(OG) - Cosmi has had trouble staying healthy. When healthy he's been a minimally functional OT. He's been asked to emergency start at OG a few times and openly complained about being moved around. This year, they're putting him at OG with a pretty mediocre RT replacement, suggesting they've lost hope in him as an OT. I'm okay with him being an OG, I just get irritated that they didn't make up their mind earlier. 3a) Benjamin St. Juste (CB) - St. Juste's main problem has been health. He took a REALLY bad concussion as a rookie, got hurt against last year. He has played in the slot, but he was...barely passable there. He's much better on the outside b/c he's not a twitched up player. He really needs to be out where his size and length can be put to good use. It's at best uncertain if he won't be CB4 this year with Forbes and Fuller outside and Martin inside. I think he should play over Fuller, but he needs to play better and stay healthy. 3b) Dyami Brown (WR) - So far, Dyami has been a bust. This is NOT just a case of him being stuck with bad QBs or low volume or buried on the depth chart. He's not been good enough. Dyami doesn't get open, and when he does his hands have been suspect. Now, to be fair, he did show a bit of spark towards the end of last year and you'd think with Howell taking over their might be some chemistry there, but don't be fooled, Dyami is the WR4 on this team...and he's more likely to move down than up the depth chart. WRs used to emerge in year 3. Brown really needs to. 4) John Bates (TE) - Bates has been EXACTLY what I thought he'd be. Great blocker, one of the best in the league at TE, but he's really just a positional check-down type receiver. He has a little more athleticism to him than you'd expect, but not enough to be anything than the true-Y that backs up a better receiving option at the position. Which...4th round...that's not terrible value. 5) Darrick Forrest (S) - Washington was basically a full time 3-safety team last year b/c they lacked CB and LB depth. Forrest got alot of PT and look solid, with a chance to grow into more than solid. I expect Percy Butler to push him for time, and now that they have better CB depth, I also expect less 3-safety formations. So if he doesn't beat Butler out, he might not play as much as last year despite McCain's departure. 6) Camaron Cheeseman (LS) - Who the f---- takes a long snapper? And they traded UP for him??? Still burns me. 7a) William Bradley-King (DE) - Basically nothing. 7b) Shaka Toney (DE) - I really wish they'd moved Toney to off-ball LB as a rookie and made him start learning. Toney was too small to be a DE in the NFL, but he had the movement skills and smarts to learn LB I think. Now he's suspended indefinitely. Probably a write-off 7c) Dax Milne (WR) - Milne is on the team mostly just to be punt returner. He never drops them. He doesn't get any yards, but Washington went through many before Milne who were dropping punts and he's an overcorrection for that. He actually saw a little PT 2 years ago b/c of injuries, but he was never anything more than someone who could be a reliable catcher if left uncovered. Which...congrats and all, but you're not surviving on that. The team is high on Kaz Allen who will almost certainly push Milne down the depth chart. Overall, things are looking pretty optimistic for this draft class right now. 1 year ago it looked REALLY bad though, and it wouldn't take much for it to look bad again a year from now as I wouldn't say any of the top 4 picks have really cemented themselves just yet.

I mean, in regards to the Jets pick of AVT not being great because the Vikings were able to take Darrisaw, who is also a great LT, AVT is also a stud who has excelled when asked to play LT. He’s played (and done amazing) at 4/5 spots on the OL. Plus, the Jets weren’t targeting LT as this was after Mekhi Becton’s solid rookie year. So grabbing the best guard in the class, AVT, was a great idea

I still like the Pats 2021 draft year. Sadly some of the day 2-3 guys didn't pan out but Stevenson was going to be the better guy than Damien Harris. Regarding Alex Leatherwood, that is the quintessential example of reaching for a OLineman in the first round as he's not even a starter. Meanwhile you had nerds try butcher the Pats for reaching for Cole Strange a year later because he was considered a reach for a top 100 player but the guy looks like he's going to be the starting LG for the Pats. Best part is a 5th year option for a YEAR 1 starter (despite using that by the time Strange is 29) than Leatherwood whose still paid like a first rounder and is just part of some teams' O-line depth chart rotation.

53:28 I understand the thoughts on the Parsons thing, and maybe it’s a case of revisionist history again, but the dude was a REALLY good DE in High school at Harrisburg. It was confusing to a lot of people why Penn State insisted on having him play off ball when that’s not something he really did beforehand, but he’s such a good athlete he made it work regardless.

For Commanders, I remember fans being a little frustrated with the Jamin Davis pick, since everyone wanted Owusu-Koramoah, and they passed on him twice. Funny thing is, Davis might be the best LB at that end of the 1st round. As for Bates, they got exactly what they were looking for: one of the best blocking TEs out there.

JOK is a lot better than Davis so the fans were right on that one

Man I know you aren’t a fan of the Dayo pick for the Colts but he had a really nice season last year. Go check out his tape vs the cowboys if you ever get the chance. He gave Zach Martin the work!

In the end, the 49ers traded Trey Lance away for a 3rd rounder, not even a 2nd rounder like you said. But I agree that would've been a tough prediction.

I'm a little further down on a couple of players in the Raiders draft... Moehrig flashed in year 1 in Bradley's scheme, but he didn't take a step and really underwhelmed in year 2 under Graham - doesn't look like a top 50 player at the moment. Deablo being our best LB is nothing to shout about - clearly still a converted Safety that hasn't "got" LB run gap fits yet. Koonce has shown very good ability to get to the QB, in very limited reps... current coaches seem to really not like him. Morrissey was worth a mention - we put him on our practice squad so we could keep worse players, and he was snatched by the Texans, even started a few games, I think? Right now, Hobbs in the slot, is the only "good" player from this whole class.

Only thing I'll say as a Steelers fan is Kendrick Green is horrible. Probably going to get cut this year, I really doubt he makes the 53 man roster. I think an A grade is definitely a miss. Great video, keep it up!
