It's fairly common to have blackouts/ brownouts here in the Philippines. That is why I get asked a lot about choosing the right generator for the home - the answer is not as complicated as it seems. I also talked about the generator we chose for the skypod and what we did to make it automatic! Special thanks to Kryzzzie for guesting (again!) 😂

I think this needs a part2... something to explain how to choose the power capacity requirement as imdicated on the electric bill... or explaining it as to how much a generator can power in terms of appliance use in a span of time. It might be more of a lecture side... but i'm really interested.

Blackout vs Brownout A blackout is a complete interruption of power in a given service area. Rolling blackouts are controlled and usually preplanned interruptions of service. A brownout is a partial, temporary reduction in system voltage or total system capacity. But in the Philippines, everything is "brownout".

My father uses a truck's battery and pairs it with an inverter to produce electricity for our home during brownouts. It's cheaper, doesn't use diesel/gasoline, quiet, and we can just recharge it at home as soon as the electricity comes back. Though it is only used for very small loads it can definitely last especially during storm season in Samar.

maybe you have a small house or only use the lights during brownouts that's why a "truck battery" can handle it probably
@btmaria
@btmaria 2 жыл бұрын
@@seanrasos2248 my parents live in a two-story house. But my father limits the use only to an e-fan, some lights, and charging phones. They live in Samar and power outages are pretty normal. And during typhoon season, power outages last for at least 2-3 days and the battery delivers.
@mr.ambungan3865

It depends upon the load requirements.. Obviously, Slater wants to have a back up power supply that can power all the appliances and ACUs of the entire house continuously for more than 2 weeks.. Your 2 truck batteries simply cannot do the job he is requiring..

Thank you Kuya Slater for this! And for featuring the dental drill too! 💜 Useful for me since I’m a dentistry student and online lang po yung clinics namin. We work from home with supervision of our clinical instructors through video meetings. Pag brownout tigil po talaga lahat kasi wala nang internet, wala pang power to run the compressor para gumana yung handpiece. Huhu. 🥺 Will consider you key points po in choosing a generator that can carry all the load needed to run the home clinic. Thank you sooooo so much po, Kuya! More power SKYfam! 🥰🙏🏻

Very Good thing na feature ni sir slater ung ATS is we don't want to turn the generator on Immediately for at least 10 seconds because sometimes electricity will just flicker and it might damage the generator motor by simply turning on and off. Also Guys, Please get the Inverter one lalo na if we are using WFH kinds of stuff! Quality Info Rating 10/10 Kudos to you mah dudes and keep doing very helpful Vlogs.

Typically, the live wires after the meter comes into a MCB then goes to your Panel Board's MCB to distribute. ATS has 3 terminals, Utility Power side (for your Meralco), Generator side and Load side. Just for a very quick and short guide: Remove that incomer live cables from your Panel Board and connect it to the ATS Utility Power side. Connect your genset power cable to the Generator side. Then the cable from the Load side of your ATS will now go to your Panel Board's MCB. You'll need to have a control cable, typically a 2.5mm2 5-core cable for your float battery charger AC supply and a Remote Start signal in your genset. Just leave an open space beside your Panel Board for the ATS installation. Try to visit Powercity Corporation and look for my mom, Aileen Gonzales, for Generator and ATS sales. Thank you very much mate!
