I remember seeing on the news where people were getting into fi$tfights over those dolls! My mother worked for a store during the Cabbage Patch Kids craze. She was able to buy one before the store opened. She bought it for my grandmother, who had an extensive doll collection.

In the end, moms probably went home exhausted but victorious (or bruised, depending on how things went down in that aisle). The Cabbage Patch kids got delivered, kids got the toys, and we all got a lesson in how far some moms will go for a little plastic, yarn-haired, nightmare-inducing dol

I definitely remember the “Cabbage Patch” craze when it happened, but didn’t buy into it. Funny…you didn’t see people trying to kill each other over the STAR WARS toys, LOL!

I don't remember parents acting that way over any boy's toy, and only over girl stuff like Cabbage Patch Kids.

@@3Storms Before the popularity of on-line shopping, you should have gone to a Walmart Black Friday sale.

Imagine telling your boss, you need a couple days off for this. I saw a couple guys in line too. Did no one have a job?

Oh God I remember this. My mother had taken me to the South Attleboro MA Zayre to buy some Colecovision games with money I had gotten for my birthday the previous day. We saw a ton of people but figured it was typical Christmas shoppers. We were wrong. The crowd was already unruly and the police were doing their best to control them. We were allowed into the store because we had no interest in the dolls. Well two of the stupidest store employees decided to wheel in a couple pallets of the things Total bedlam. The crowd surged forward. 12 year old me got separated and I was shoved aside and to the front of the store, my mother to the back. I had never seen anything like it. We had the flying dolls, screaming mothers, crying kids. Everything My mother and I eventually found one another and left. I never did get my games and we were both traumatized.

the lesson for business retail is this. put the Item at the front door. let one to two people in at a time, 1 per person/ and no running to the back of the store. // attach a flyer on to each box of the item. first come, 1st get served. 1 per person. now r the days of the amazon delivery man. then some dude races to the Porch and steals the box.

I think I was 16 during this time. My boyfriend's mother and her friend came out to visit and her friend spent hours at local stores looking for one in vain. Boy was she bad tempered over that.

That woman with the big sunglasses was setting a good example for kids by smoking while waiting outside a toy store. I know nicotine patches weren't invented yet, but still ...

I never had an issue with Cabbage Patch dolls, but I don't know why people were so crazy about them besides the hype. Everybody wants one, so everybody wants one. Same with the Tickle Me Elmo, what's the deal? 🤷♂️ I remember that craze. Cookie Monster's WAY better. Thanks for the video
