Whew talk about a throwback! I saw the movie in theaters in ‘84, and had everything from the lunchbox to *almost* EVERY toy and stuff you shown! All gone now, but I still have a picture with the big gremlin I had, holding it. It’s arms broke off, but my dad (rip) glued them back on and I still played with it. Good times.

You are so right Junkman,Gremlins 2 should have come out maybe in 87 or possibly 88 because like yourself in 84 I was 12 & by the summer of 1990 when Gremlins 2 came out which I went to see it in the Theater I was 18 & the “magic” of Gremlins was gone plus it was a weaker than the original! It would be interesting for Gremlins 3 to come out. I remember the Gremlins lunch box and the Atari 5200 Gremlins Game.I don’t remember the Atari 2600 version The other things you are shown I don’t remember! I loved Colorforms!

Junkman I had most of what you showed in this video. I had the big Gizmo figure and the big stripe figure. Of course I had the Gremlins lunch box the gremlins backpack cause I used to carry my stuffed weird looking Gizmo in the backpack like Billy carried Gizmo in the movie. The cereal was captain crunch in the shape of gremlins and Gizmo. Junkman do you remember the C3PO cereal called C3PO's?

I loved gremlins! For the time, it was great. I think it still is. The first thing I noticed that I had that was listed among the many items was the stuffed gizmo. It would squeak like a dog toy when ya shook it. The other thing was the lunchbox. I still have it, along with the thermos that came with it. The second one wasn't nearly as good, but I did love the original.

I have the Stripe backpack from the 80s, and I love using it around Christmas. I have a keychain 3d stripe holding a bitten ginger bread cookie, looks 80s but not sure, can't find it online, it's like a figure but not the weird ones out today, far more realistic. Got the Stripe Tops candy container, and various figures the 4 inch from the 3 pack, the bendy one, the big scary plush. Love the records too, they're also no yt. Me and the fam listened on the holidays. LOL

Something weird was going on up here in Canada....I don't know what sales person talked them into it but the 3 pack of pvc figures could be found in every drug store that had anything resembling a toy section and for some reason most of them did have a toy section at the time.

In kindergarten I had the Gizmo backpack pictured at 12:14, except it was hot pink. I also got a puzzle for Christmas that came with Colorforms you could stick on top of it. I don't remember exactly what it looked like but I remember one of the Colorforms was a pair of anaglyph 3D glasses. I'm pretty sure at this point I had never seen the movie. I did have Gremlins cereal at least once. If I remember correctly, it tasted like the Batman cereal that was released to tie in with the Tim Burton Batman movie. 12:34 The sleeping bag pictured here clearly shows Garfield's teddy bear, Pooky.

Man, the only thing that I love more than the Gremlins movie was the Gremlins merchandise. This brough back some great memories of my beloved posable Gizmo. On a side note, when I was 7 or 8, I had a sleepover at my house with a pair of brothers from up the street. They showed up with matching pairs of slippers. It was weird enough that my Mom still jokes about it some 35 years later. Super weird.

9:50 - All 5 of those books DID come with records. They used to sell them here in PA in the Turkey Hill/ Krogers convienience stores and like gas station type stores, I'm sure other places had the record and non record versions. They'd put a different one out every two weeks, offering each of the 5 twice or until sold out.

Watched further through the video - you aren't wrong! Not all places had the records with the books! If it was a type of place that had hot temps that the records could warp or melt, some locations did not sell the records, which is why the books are more common to find than the records. My book 5 never came with a record in my area. I was told that the company made more books than the number of records pressed.

I had a lot of the Gremlins stuff. I had one of those Gremlin shaped easter egg like things that when you openned it up it had a little yellow Gizmo and brown Stripe thingys that if you put them in a bowl of water they'd grow to 6x or 8x their size....not sure how many people remember those kinds of goofy 'toys', but if you left them in water too long they'd go -pluh- into mush, lol. Were they supposed to be fun? LOL.

@That Junkman Did you known that in 1998, not long after ''Tiger Electronics'' originally released the (Furby toy line)? Tiger Electronic and Hasbro found themselves potentially facing legal trouble when ''Warner Bros'' came kicking at their door. And it didn’t take long for meny consumers to notice the similarities between (Furbies and the loveable Gizmo) from Joe Dante’s 1984 classic ''Gremlins''. Fortunately...Warner Bros studio at the time had a good working relationship with Hasbro. And decided not to sue the toy-makers but rather partnered with them. So in 1999 Hasbro released a special ''Gizmo Furby''. Which was advertised as featuring “the actual voice of Gizmo''. The mash-up toy was reportedly limited to 250,000 pieces worldwide. The release of a ''Gremlins Furby'' confirmed the suspicion that Hasbro stole the design of the Furbys from the films central character. And the toy itself made the comparison even more unmistakable. FYI- The word ''Mogwai'' 魔怪 is a Cantonese word which means ''Evil Spirit''.

I tend to just remember the life-size and highly realistic Gizmo doll that was in my local comic book store for a few years during the 90's. It was up in "the rafters". Guessing it cost around 200 Hfl (Dutch Guilders). By the time I was old enough to purchase such a "valuable collectible" (had a job) and figured I'd buy it, it had just been sold. Never seen another one. I've seen other Gizmos, but none that realistic...

I didn't realize there was that much merch for Gremlins. While I love the movie (sequel was well done as well) it became overshadowed By Temple of Doom and Ghostbusters that same year for me.
