To start with, the members: Arem (김아름): bass Iree (아이리): guitar (red hair) Yeong Eun (임영은): drums Jayoung (박자영): vocals Choi Hyunjung (최현정): guitar (blue hair) They also tend to make it easier by pretty much always staying in the same spots; Hyunjung on the far left, then Arem, Yeong Eun in the middle at the back (of course), Jayoung usually just to the right of centre, then Iree at the far right. They'll move to centre stage occasionally during the performance, but they'll always go back to those positions. This is so far my favourite of Rolling Quartz' original songs, and apparently it's most of theirs, too (Hyunjung's is Delight)! 2:50 For the record, Jayoung is also a vocal coach! 😉 3:50 I'm not 100%, but I wouldn't be surprised if the aging was all-natural; I think she's had it for quite a while, and she's actually just got a new instrument... 4:15 While they do move in some of the same circles, I wouldn't call RQ "K-pop" at _all._ They're very much a traditional rock band; they formed organically pretty much through word-of-mouth, no big entertainment companies or idol training to be seen, and they earned their stripes playing the clubs mostly around Hongdae (basically Seoul's live entertainment district). By the same token, I don't think there's anything symbolic about it. They just love rock music and got together to make it. 😁 5:10 I've seen Iree listed as lead guitar and Hyunjung as rhythm, but as far as I can tell, they don't really see themselves that way; they're just both guitarists, each with her own style, and they use those different styles to play off each other brilliantly. As I understand it, their arrangement strategy is similarly organic; they just start out playing what they feel like playing, and figure out what works between them. 5:35 It is, but she's also _incredibly_ versatile; she does vocal covers on her own channel (some of which later get made into full-band covers, like DC's Good Night and Mäneskin's Zitte E Buoni), but one of my favourites is her cover of Ahn Ye-eun's "Changgwi"; a kind of traditional-sounding song based on a Korean ghost story: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3eVeHyPa7Gcosk 6:05 Oh, I _loooove_ the drum breakdown... 😁 8:05 Arem had her reasons... of more later. 😉 10:00 Yeah, no, they do actually write their own songs, including this. To hear Jayoung tell it, she basically writes the core of the song - the lyrics and topline - then hands it off to the others to figure out the instrumentals, because by her own reasoning, _they're_ the ones who are gonna be _playing_ them. 😜 When they've got it figured out, their boss (Han Seung-oh) works out the final polish. My bias is Yeong Eun. While I'm naturally drawn to drummers at the best of times, she's _really_ something special... 🥰 I've described her as like a beautiful duck... floating gracefully across the water, while paddling furiously below the surface. When I first saw her play, I marvelled at how efficient she was; how so many beats seemed to come from relatively little movement. Of course, that's before I saw what her knees were doing; she makes brilliant use of a double kick pedal, which does far more of the work than I initially realised... The tagline of the MV teaser was "Who is the Vampire?". Arem is the Assassin, Iree the Prophet, Yeong Eun the Priestess, Jayoung the Hotelier and Hyunjung the Shaman. By the end of it, I think it's pretty safe to say Arem got the right one. 😉 She'll probably be fine, though... 😜

Woohooo finally! I told you they are good 😁 Holler is one of my favorite songs from them. Other songs to check out are their debut song "Blaze" , and their cover of Dreamcatcher's "Good Night". All of their covers are insanely good by the way. It's really hard to pick a bias in this band, because they are all so talented, and all of them are cool in a different way. But if i'd really have to pick, it would be bassist Arem, just for being a badass!

Yeah! I knew a few drummers growing up that played barefoot because it was more comfortable and they could feel the music more. I totally get it. 🤘🏻 I also wasn't able to see them in LA because it sold out. 🙃

This song is so damn good ! I really love their style ! I don't know much about Rolling Quartz, I discovered them by chance but it's very cool and refreshing to see something else than "classical k-pop girl group" with everyone dancing and singing (even if it's very good too!). But i'm not sure we can qualified RQ as a "k-pop group"? Maybe K-Rock? Idk i'm not an expert on the subject and all of those terms 😁 But with Rolling Quartz we can easily see how much Korea has to offer in terms of music. They have so many talented artists with so different style ! I wish all this styles can have more visibility :) By the way, I like your react, you have some interresting comment, like all the instrumental details :) it's also refreshing to see than just comment the MV and the music 😁

Thank you so much for all of that, Aylee! 😁 Yeah, I won't be classifying them as KPop at all after that...it was just something that kind of came out while I was doing the video. They're definitely just a straight up k-Rock band for sure! 🤘🏻 But I agree, it's really refreshing to see for me too. It's one of the reason I like Dreamcatcher so much too, because they break that traditional "girl group" mould in a similar way. But thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😁

I know them, they release their 1rst mini-album named Fighting and you will be surprised but Holler isn't their title track but a b-side of this album, their title track is Delight, they released mv for Delight, Azalea and Holler and i prefer Holler in all track! Their budget's mv grow too, i saw Holler's mv but i don't remember the shooting scene lol but i saw the performance of holler in their concert released in their youtube channel

Noticed you have reacted to Rolling Quartz - Azalea. It is the best song in the EP. Has that classic Stairway to Heaven style, slow to heavy, of course it starts heavy, gets mellow, then throttles you forward. Bias???? Who cares! They are 5 extremely talented women who deserve recognition. I used to get asked the same thing about Band Maid. So to shut them up, I eventually just chose Miku. LMAO

This band doesn't really "stick" with me very long; I prefer the more technical playing of the Japanese rock/metal acts personally. This group does some really catchy, accessible songs though. I agree, the singer is awesome for the genre and type of music they play. And the Korean bands - especially the KPOP acts - aren't afraid to embrace their visual aesthetics, they practically revel in it. Goth girls are always a win :)

I do really enjoy technical music myself. Especially artists like Intervals and Polyphia, but that's probably because I play guitar. 😅
