Second part of a six part video describing the machining of a machinist's positioning hammer. This project introduces the novice (beginner) machinist to several basic metal lathe operations as well as introducing basic notions on organizing and preparing a project. More specifically this video presents knurling, square groove cutting, deep hole drilling and reaming on a metal lathe. As for all of my machine shop videos, this video is specifically produced for novice machinists. As very much a novice machinist I have watched many KZbin videos over the last few months as well as reading a number of recommended books. There are a number of very skillful folk on KZbin who are generously sharing their expertise but these videos are by far the clearest and best presented I have come across. No assumptions are made as to the skill of the viewer and they have really boosted my confidence to take on projects.

At 6 minutes 45 seconds you can see your QCTP turn when you start to knurl. Seems like it wasnt tight enough but you got a good knurl!

There is much to do in the summer so video production grinds almost to a halt. The corona virus has closed the school shop that I usually rent for my videos that aren't produced in my little home shop. Just to inform you, you need to invest in a new microphone soon. The audio quality is a bit poor. Some good tips though.
