They make an excellent point about psycho 2, it would have been way more interesting to see Norman adjusting to a different city for most of the movie. Then maybe he could have eventually revisited his old house, and the build up would have made it much creepier

Warner Bros. owned Atari and I think hired them for the computer graphics too. I hear that theme a lot, which is so inferior to even the arcade version as to make me cringe. I just heard it today in a clip from _Lost_ where Walt is playing a hand-held video game (using the Atari Pac-Man sounds) in the airport and needs new batteries, so may have overheard his dad tell his grandmother that he didn't want to take care of Walt. The story goes that someone at WB told the head of Atari to license Space Invaders, which hardly anyone at the company was aware of or interested in, except the programmer which had fiddled with it but shelved it. They didn't normally license arcade games, but just stole them and hoped the courts wouldn't rule in favor of the owners if they sued them. But this game was a "must-have game," and made the Atari VCS (a.k.a. 2600) dominate the market in 1980. If Mattel had licensed it for Intellivison, that would have been the console to sell millions and would have required Atari to rethink and do their next system sooner, maybe in 1980-1. Instead it gave a second life to the system, following up with Asteroids and Missile Command in 1981, though their programmers left them for Activision and other pursuits. Then Atari licensed and made the "must-have game" Pac-Man for it in 1982. It sold 8 million, but was horrible, and they might have manufactured 2 million more carts that didn't sell! And this sabotaged the roll-out of the 5200, and may have even undermined sales of the Atari computers which had similar tech-level for its games as the 5200. There were many reasons, but Atari Pac-Man was the first game that led to the Video Game Crash of 1983.

One of the most underrated sequels of all time. I can't believe these blokes put in same bucket as Superman III. I watched Siskel and Ebert since the 80's and rarely agreed with their takes on Movies. We still watched it though because it was the ONLY show on TV giving sneak previews and reviews on films. If they came along during the KZbin Era they would have had a harder time blowing up like they did. They were the highest rated weekly program on PBS of all time!

I actually saw Psycho II before I saw the first, original Psycho. I was 14 years old and a fanatic about the movies. I went to the movies once a week for a lot of years from the 1970s-1980s with my then best friend, a fellow movie fanatic. Psycho II was one of the many movies we saw together when it originally came out in the theaters in 1983. At that time, certainly I heard of the movie Psycho, but I never saw it before. As a result, I had a hard time trying to follow and understand this movie because I was in the dark about the background of Norman Bates. Psycho II somewhat sailed over my head until years later when I finally saw the original Psycho.

I was 14 years old and had seen psycho II in the theater when it first came out, years before I saw the first Psycho. As a consequence, I really didn't know who this Norman bates character was, what his background was. As a result, psycho II pretty much sailed over my head because I just couldn't follow it. It wasn't until when I finally saw the first psycho did the sequel make sense to me.

I forget. what a hideous movie. those horrible Salkinds Producers, man. as _if_ the only people who cared about the first _Superman_ movie by Dick Donner were children. 19:08 "Enjoy another favorite from the makers of Raisinets, Goobers and Snowcaps." This week someone asked me about Goobers, and another person mentioned Snowcaps! A comedian once had a routine where he started telling a story and would pick a candy out of a bag (randomly) to use the name to add to the story. Naturally the talk show host asked his staff to find the most obscure-sounding candy name to put in his bag and mess the guy up if he hadn't heard of it.

2 Thumbs down for Psycho II is a travesty! That is one of the best underrated sequels in movie history. It sits alongside Robocop II and 2010 a Space Odyssey in that regard. All 3 are very good movies but since they aren't quite as good as their all time originals get quickly dismissed when they shouldn't!
