IMHO, the viewers are the winners. Seeing the two maestros at work from scratch, watching and listening to the gents train of thought/concepts and developing the pedalboards and rigs is just great. And to top it off the two boys playing together...Just Brill...Thanks Gents, you Legends!

I loved that moment of dual realisation. In true TPS style it was wet/dry. Mick realising his amp is as dry as a nun's wine glass, closely followed after a slight delay by Dan wetting himself with the realisation he may win this.

I like the challenges because they replicate the real world issues that we all have to deal with, time constraints, how much can you haul in and out, how to balance volume differences in drives, how to adjust your pedals to your amp or the amp you don't really want to but have to use. Why you would choose one drive or delay over another, what's the wobbly that works for what you're playing, just so much useful information in an endlessly entertaining format. Thanks leg ends

We all win! Yay! Well done gents 👍👍 Mick solved Dan's headroom issue, and for Mick's lack of reverb : stash the Surfybear in the pouch of one of the gig bags, stick it in the FX loop (or on top of the amp - can't recall if the power amp has a loop) and you're done!

Great video! I've been struggling with almost this exact scenario. I''m building a small pedalboard on a Metro 24 for practice and small jams. It's helpful to see how you two chose to limit yourselves and still get your core sounds. Cheers!! You both did excellent and presented a couple different approaches with the expected commonality. I DO LOVE the way Dan split the delay and modulation into two different amps for wet1/wet2. Sounded great online. I'm sure it's much better in person! When you have so many delays and modulations, the Halo and Hamstead were great choices. I've been wanting to get the Halo for a LONG time. All aspects of Andy's tone are well worth trying to emulate. Maybe it's time to push the button!! (Already got the Hamstead - it's GREAT!!)

The most important piece of gear to do a one trip load is a great cart! Those second or third trips eat up so much time when venues give you almost no setup/breakdown time. Of course, if there are stairs, you are kind of screwed. 🤨
@GitShiddy5 сағат бұрын
This episode just had me screaming internally "This is the why TPS needs a Stereo Magnatone." On the sounds front. It goes to Dan and here's why. Both sounded great & like themselves but when the jam started Dan just started playing, he had sounds, those sounds inspired music & you could see it. Mick was searching for sounds....I think he'd had probably found them more quickly/easily with the Strat. But what do I know, I'm but a schmuck. On the "You have vertical room." This is how I have my amps at home but I had to jerry rig a mic stand to hold two mics at different heights. This is something mic stand manufactures should get making properly.

mick made such an important point here- this internet obsession with a million tie down posts and zip ties equals absolutely zero flexibility or troubleshooting. cable management being more like having a cabling compartment, which is hidden but easily accessible, is the ideal solution for practically every session or gigging electric guitar player.

My plan for a compact wet/dry/wet rig. Tweed bassman cab with a 12" speaker and two 8" speakers wired in stereo. Amp stand with 4u rack and 2 power amps mounted, one stereo. Running a modeller infront, amp model/profile with stereo effects going to left and right outs into the stereo poweramp and 8" speakers and a dry amp model/profile out of one of the sends going to the 12" speaker. Might not have the spead of 3 separate cabs, but mic'd up I think it'd sound huge. I'm currently running a 2x10 cab with built in rack stereo poweramp this way and the stereo effect is surprisingly noticeable as long as it's directly behind you. FOH gets a mono out with a custom blend IR of close, back and room mics so they're happy and I get my stereo setup on stage.

Challenge idea: one sound for the gig challenge. You can build any one sound you want, but then you actually play a gig and the only thing you can touch is the knobs on the guitar, no foot switching. See what interesting creativity happens when your only clean sound is the guitar volume on two and your lead sound is on 10!
