McDaniels I have more trust in as an OC than a Head Coach. Hell, he made Cassell into a targetable asset for other teams in the year Brady was out for the season and we went 11-5, only missing the playoffs by a 1 game tiebreaker to Baltimore. He also worked with Jimmy G and Brissett for the 4 games Brady was suspended, going 3-1 on the way to start that year, and let's not forget the fact that we went 10-7 the year we drafted Mac Jones. I'm hoping this time around he sticks around for a few years so Maye has a consistent voice guiding his growth.

Mike pulled out after he found out he wasn’t the first pick. The only real coach that the Saints were eyeing that actively dropped out was Joe Brady. Aaron Glenn and Mike Vrabel were also on that list, but they went to other teams, which isn’t the really the same thing. Right now the Saints are all but secured in landing Kellen Moore. They can’t land him until the Super Bowl ends, but the language has been pretty clear.

That’s how much age has to do with it. What’s the point in hiring a coach for 3-4 years max when you’re at the bottom of barrel. Hell it’s going to take 2-3 years just to get back to average and start setting in place your personnel. By that time Pete will just about be ready for a retirement home.

As a Seahawks fan, I will be the first to tell you that the blame for the Seahawks' offensive failure is on Schotty. One hundred percent. Run, Run, Pass, Punt. It never changed. Defenses adjusted accordingly and a predictable offense led to predictably worse results. It's the whole reason "Let Russ Cook" came about. Letting Russ drop deep balls all day also allowed defenses to adjust, but what if our pretty good qb was allowed to cook on more occasions beforehand and we didn't have this huge power struggle over the identity of the offense? A few people think Shanahan fired Wilkes as a scapegoat. There don't seem to be a lot of good options for OC. I have one, but with conditions. & no one's gonna like it. But it would work. You just have to remember back to mid-'22. After calling out his team's play-calling, the Bears changed their plays & averaged 31 ppg under the new ones. They also scored more using those plays weeks 11 & 14-17 in '23. Now after you're done getting angry, I'll point out what you _should_ be asking: how & why does any coach get away with knowing what plays work better yet intentionally refusing to use them for over a year? See what you're missing yet? Fields was handcuffed by an HC who wanted to score fewer points. If it had been Getsy doing this, the why fluctuate between the good & bad ones when only the good ones help your career? Whereas Eberflus had no such oversight, &/or was carrying out the desires of his GM who wanted an excuse to oust the QB he inherited like most GMs want. Take your pick, no way does Getsy get away with doing this unless his HC okays it. Which leaves the question of who designed the good plays they averaged 31 ppg with. & to put this into perspective, you know how some are saying Burrow should be MVP this year? He had Gesicki, Iosaivas, Higgins & a triple-crown winner. But Burrow hasn't had a 4-weeks streak of producing 31 ppg. Fields did it with Darnell Mooney & Chase Claypool while being the leading rusher on his team/having no decent RB. So imagine those plays on the Jets' roster with Fields? With an RB they either already have or can draft, his old college teammate & a little more? Hey, 31 ppg is better than what you had. Trade for Fields, 'though I don't really know what the Jets have. It's just that if you're not gonna blow it all up, that's your best available option. Wilson wants out. But he's the only one who has been _vocal_ about it. Either turn things around or blow them up.

I don’t know how niners fans feel about Coach Wilks but us in Carolina really respected what he did for the Panthers after the firing of Rhule. Being a native of the city I think really pushed the players towards an identity in the games. Yknow something to strive for. He brought us some grit that we were lacking with rhule.

It's not a reset for us man. We retained half our coaching staff, so continuity is there. We brought back DC Patrick Graham and Rob Leonard (Our D line coach) all the while upgrading our LB Coach to John Glenn (Ties with Carrol from Seattle). We were #13 in rush defense #15 in pass defense and #15 total defense this season. And I know that ain't ground breaking numbers, but it's middle of the pack. And we only got better at that side of the ball, with Pete already blending what we had with his vision. NOT A COMPLETE REBUILD. We just got to figure out the offensive side of the ball CLEARLY. Gotta find the right OC gotta get a QB then solidify the O line. And retain Key pieces on Defense.

Hey Perna, I've got to disagree with you about Josh McDanials as an OC!!! He developed Jimmy G/ Brisset (he was a project coming out of college)/ Mac Jones...Oh yeah, and he also developed Matt Cassel (You know that QB that completed 20-of-33 passes for 192 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception in College at USC), and was drafted in the 7th round (230th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft...Who guided the Patriots to an 11-5 record in 2008, and then went to the Chiefs from 2009-2012, and made the Pro-Bowl in 2010!!! As a HC he sucks, and that's what makes him vaulable...Nobody is going to try and poach him for a HC job!!!
