The WNBA is On Fire; Can it Sustain? Caitlin Clark & Angel Reese have WNBA Ratings at an all time high. Signup for Underdog Fantasy Here: play.underdogfantasy.com/p-th... CODE: THATSGOOD
#wnba #caitlinclark #angelreese #fever #indiana #losangeles #nba #espn #foxsports #nfl #NFLNews #mahomes #joshallen #rivals #thatsgoodsports #brandonperna
Rivalries are great, even if they are stoked by ESPN. The WNBA needs it to continue, and mimic the NFL with Patrick Mahomes & Josh Allen or more aptly maybe the Philip Rivers Jay Cutler Rivalry.

@thatsgoodsports Apparently you have never watched basketball either. The veteran players of women's basketball is saying that the things getting pointed out about Katlyn has BEEN happening in women's basketball (FOULS INCLUDED). I used to watch women's basketball and compare it to the WWE in real life 😁. They would almost destory each other on the court and high 5 each other at the end. They have gotten better since the WNBA but the rough play has always been there. Like EA Sports, in was in their game.

Its the collisions now outlawed in the NFL. Like whenever hulk Hogan made pro wrestling cartoonish I started watching women's basketball in a similar time slot back in the late 80s. The WNBA has vintage Vincent Lombardi blocking and tackling. Nobody in the NFL wants to get fined for tackling. The WNBA there will be contact. I'm not the biggest Caitlin Clark fan, but I love Aaliyah Boston and they're like Larry Allen and Emmett Smith. Clark is getting way better at following Aaliyah Boston. The refs will never call a moving screen as long as it's entertaining. Clark will get bigger numbers without Boston but way more likely to win in a synergy. Reese is her team's only all-star. I hope Camilla Takes some of her numbers and get them more wins. Takes time to build a team. I enjoy watching these ladies play.

@@GenocideOwl year long commitment of working out. Then you have 6 months of the off season. So you have plenty of time. Millions do that without making nearly that much. They’ll be making more now, but why would you make more than 105k average with bad attendance and viewership? They just seem entitled. Of course now the averages will go up thanks to Caitlin Clark became a huge brand in sports. All for them making more, but to act like they aren’t making a good money shows how out of touch they are. On a side note it’s cool seeing Aja Wilson now getting mainstream attention. Curious what the league will be like in 5 years. It’s exiting. Weird story. I live in New Orleans, and we used to have a AAA baseball team: The Zephyrs, who actually came from Denver then moved here. I liked going to their games, I liked the atmosphere, the Shrine on Airline all of it. Triple A ball is kinda cool actually. You find weird guys to root for, ask for their autographs, they’re actually impressed usually. Then a new owner came in and changed the fucking name to The BabyCakes. The New Orleans BabyCakes. It was so stupid that I jumped naked wide in ironically. I bought the merch. The fucking mascot was a demon baby. I went to as many games as I could, and was getting as drunk as I could shouting shit like “THAT’S HOW TO PLAY BALL LIKE A CAKE MOTHERFUCKER!! THAT’S CAKES BASEBALL!!!” I swear to god if we had a WNBA team down here, I’d fully embrace it in the same way. Not as much ironically, bc mostly I was bitter about the change, but more like “I’VE NEVER GIVEN AS MUCH OF A SHIT ABOUT THIS AS I DO NOW, AND I’M JUMPING IN FULL FORCE!!”

I think it creates interesting dynamics and you help make the topic not seem so volatile but just part of the story. Like how you bring up white cornerbacks and make jokes about it. The paralells between the NBA in the 70s / early 80s and the current WNBA are staggering. 1. The NBA in the 1970s was essentially a two team league. Boston and LA. Interest wasn't very high. That actually was a trend for the first 25 years of the league. By the late 70s, the lwague was old and boring. No new stars. This is the WNBA up til now almost exactly. 25 years of low interest revolving around 3 marketable teams: NY, CHI, PHX. 2. Like you said, The Magic Bird rivalry. CC and AR. This is the rivalry that defines the sport. 3. Look ahead. In 84, right in the middle of the rivalry, the Jordan Draft. 15 All Stars, 10 HOF. The 27 class is that for the WNBA. It's stacked. 3. The Nike effect. They just put the entire league on the map. The advertising it gets them is priceless. It's Bird vs Magic. They get that 27 draft right, its off to the races.

NO, they don’t replicate stats, boring, only thing that is interesting is the drama that’s going on, they don’t need to get paid more, clearly cuz the WNBA will go bankrupt

I yelled at the screen 'Hey Seattle has an NBA te- oh. yea.' I gotta get over losing the Sonics. Ive been in denial for an unhealthy amount of time. Moment of respect for Magic and Bird. One of the best sports stories ever. Those two built the NBA.

Come October/November you might be getting your Sonics back if Adam Slivers last press conference is anything to go by earlier this week...pretty sure if they are going to decide on expanding Seattle is a lock,Jeff Bezos might be the guy who brings an NBA team back to Seattle

Not only was Swopes' comment ridiculous, but flat out wrong. Clark only spent 4 years in college and was 22 when she graduated (not 25 like Swopes stated).

Hopefully this is similar to when Magic, Bird, Jordan and other legends of the game came into the NBA and makes the popularity of the league go sky high. Personally though I feel like the game needs to become bigger than just North America its got to become big in Europe and Africa to see sustained growth.

The in person attendance is key. The tv ratings aren’t as much of a flex as many think it is considering the numbers are reaching a “peak” that was already reached in the early 2000s.

Caitlyn Clark can be full on tackled like a women's version of the NFL and she'll still hit the jumper. The WNBA's aversion to actual talent in their league is laughable.
