Honestly the thing that bothered me the most about Skip wasn’t his debate tactics or overly confrontational approach, it was that he never changed his takes on anything even after being demonstrably proven wrong. He would say something obviously wrong, have his guests prove him wrong, have his team/player prove him wrong, and then come back the next day and make some excuse for why he was still technically correct. It’s ok to be wrong, you just can’t keep being wrong about the same topic forever.

No, no he did change some of them... when they contradicted each other. As in, he hates LeBron (that's well documented), he hated Kawhi when he left the Spurs, going as far as to go an entire season mostly calling him by his number and not his name. Now, when Kawhi went to the Clippers and Lebron to the Lakers so they would be direct rivals nor only in Conference but city he immediately backtracked and started to gargle Leonard's ballsack almost more than when he was a Spur.

As someone who is (part) black, and I know I’m in the minority on this, I always found Stephen A annoying af too. To me, Shannon is the best option for a sports talk show because he’s a people person: very down to earth, capable of using his experiences as an athlete at the highest level, but also knowing when to put those aside in the conversation, and he studies his film, he was born for this role. Listening to Shannon talk about sports for me is like listening to my uncle shoot the shit with my dad, and that’s how sports talk shows should be

I enjoyed Skip's verbal battles with Shannon. Shannon brought intelligence and charisma to the show and he countered Skip's flair for hyperbole with a workingman's point of view. Yeah Skip may have worn out his welcome, but in television, doesn't everyone? Remember when John Madden's schtick started to annoy you? Or when Romo's and Collinsworth's insights turned into cheerleading? I think all the negativity aimed Skip Bayless is a little overwrought. That kind of hatred should be reserved for Jim Rome.

Pardon my take, but replacing one squak-voiced, nearly unwatchable, degenerately obsessed Cowboys aficionado with another isn't something worth happening. Instead, find someone who's team is the Commanders... The Giants and Eagles do/did have their chance for representation, obviously some better than others. 👀

Castaways is a good way to put it. They got the boot as soon as they gave a take that leaned even a smidgen to the right. At least fox kept the politics to the news channels, nothings worse than having to hear politics on a sports channel.

My father used to be a Mercury News football branch writer so he tells my family all of these different stories back when he worked in the same room with Skip. Our favorite story of his was during the time that many sports media rooms only had the coverage of the game at the stadium so Skip would have his wife on the phone telling him what was happening in the 49ers game he was not at. He apparently was yelling at his wife to "TELL ME THE FORMATION!!!!" Needless to say Skip was always a hothead.

The end of your video... You are absolutely correct. The National media is not worth watching/listening. Its always NY/LA/CHI. They dont credit the other markets and want them to fail. I'd much rather watch a YT creator because they actually care, and are much more entertaining. Go Browns! (It's okay you make fun of our QB. We do too, but if we win, we win!) Shout Out to our own Browns supporters Quincy Carter, Joey Ricotone!

The Brendon Pernas of the KZbin world is where all the interesting sports commentary is happening now because they provide diverse, genuine content that goes beyond the sensationalism pioneered by figures like Skip Bayless. Bayless, once a respected journalist, shifted to creating polarizing hot takes that prioritized controversy over substance, transforming sports media into a spectacle of contrived debates. His departure is more a symptom of the bigger sports media companies failing to adapt to changing audience preferences. However, the decline of his show and the rise of independent creators highlight a shift towards more authentic and varied perspectives. People like Perna cater to a niche audience hungry for insightful and entertaining analysis, marking the end of an era dominated by personalities like Bayless and signaling a different future for sports media.
