Two rules when shopping in a supermarket: 1. Avoid opening your backpack in a supermarket. If you absolutely have to get something, do it as far away from any shelves as possible. 2. ALWAYS ask for a receipt and do NOT throw it away until your item is taken home or, if it’s food or drink, consumed. You never know if you will be visiting a supermarket later that day. She got lucky there. Some stores might not be able to print a receipt from a purchase made a day ago.

First I would have made the security proove that they even carried the perfume that you were being accused of stealing in their inventory. Since you sampled them all, and decided yours was better this is unlikely. If he still kept insisting, and it lead to your arrest. After proving innocence, would have made them call the police station on the spot and admit to their error, while dropping all charges. Then informed them that if they did not want to be sued they would need to pay a reasonable settlement. This is the definition of emotional distress.
