Ink mines combo quite well with undercover And also remember that the shield (if not broken) regens health while not being used. So if you don't need the shield atm, you can just spam the fire button to keep inking, but without popping out the shield, to regenerate its health

Dude, please use ink-mines and then touch enemies with brella (while shooting) - this will make them 1-2 shot targets. Also use mines to get assists from other side of the map that will help you to restore you brella during your own fight. Also use mines to get those jumps

Mines can easily be used to camp jumpers, people do it all the time. Jump markers are not inconsistent like that, how else do you think chargers are able to instantly splat jumpers that easily? Unless the problem is with your own internet lol.

I agree with @@Zer0billion here. Even I that my wifi quite sucks, jumpers often get hit by the outer explosion radius. I would recommend you Connor to seriously play the weapon for some time. Probably like 50 matches? It may sound a lot but if you are the player type of playing for hours non-stop you can have it done in a few days. Even if you aren't, it doesn't take months. Of course, only 50 matches won't make you insanely good at the weapon, but at least you'll understand it enough. You'll also get a nice lesson, not just for splatoon, but also for life, that is to not underappreciate stuff you're given just because it's bad or not enough in your standards. That won't really change your standards though, so your safe in that aspect. If your actually gonna do that I would recommend not to be too aggressive and play it safe. That's how the weapon plays, even with kunder or sunder

as an undercover umbrella main, the truly main reason i use it is because its so unpopular that it feels fun to play, like, its not used at all ever. i really like using rare weapons because it makes me feel like one in a million. also spamming mines is fun (thats really the only thing you can do with undercover lol) i really hope they buff the brellas soon though, because i main all of the brellas, just undercover is my most used

I use the undercover brella on splatzones to help bring back the zone and keep it from being taken even when half the team is down. Reefslide to the opposite side if we can't break their line (of course this is suicide but quick respawn is a must because I play really agro) I love harassing chargers because they can't pick me off in one shot like they can with everyone else. My shield protects me and I can kill them quicker than they can re-charge. It gets me 15-20 kills in my better matches :^) I'm definitely going to try the standing still method. I think it works because so many high ranking players jump around as a part of the meta, so it takes them by surprise.

My main weapon as it was in Splatoon 2, but it really has me miss the kit that the Kensa Undercover Brella had: Torpedoes and Ink Armour. It was amazing at being a disrupter and I'd even manage 1v2's with it. The weapon needs a buff and those torpedoes back at least. Been off the game for a bit just waiting for the brellas to get the love they needed, but months flew past before I realized it.

Good news for you with the latest season. Sorella Undercover has the torps from the Kensa, and Splattercolor Screen (now that it's not actively giving players migraines) is another pretty good deterrent and another thing it can throw and potentially combo off of if an opponent takes damage and gets affected by it.

Autobombs are the bane of an Undercover’s existence. They’ll break on your shield then do damage later, so if it paints you still have to worry about the hitbox. Or it explodes twice and kills anyway. Or you get caught in an explosion you shouldn’t have

Ink Mines can help you camp jumps, and can turn Undercover into a Nova-style Assist machine in combination with Opening Gambit (which in turn helps you rush mid and get your mines set up early--it's symbiosis).

To avoid dying with the undercover u have to jump while firing so it makes it harder for ur target to hit u. Another tip is if u have enough time, use ink mines to ur advantage, by this u can possibly splat opponents when they’re chasing u when they’re low. Last tip, use run speed. I play Undercover as a "dumb fun" weapon in turf wars because I didn't want to play it in ranked But when I did, holy moly does no one know what to do to one on the tower. I just kept getting assists and kills that the shield just kept regenerating

I am a undercover main I got 22 kills a match once but i go alot assist from a tacticooler. I am impressed you got that. Here what i do. Basically spam the crap out of reefslider. I put on the highest special gear possible.i just got 10 reefslider a match for the first time. 1. Spam the reefslider like your life depends on it. 2. Mines are great. After reefslider your ink chargers. So places two mines. I disagree reefsliders goes well with ink mines. 3. Wait for them to run over mines then take them out with your umbrella. Undercover weaknesses is it cant fight two on one battle but your reefslider want 2, 3, or 4 on 1 fight battle. After some crowd control you can use umbrella for a 1 on 1 fight.

Seeing this thing having to hit 7-10 times to splat a single player pains me, and yet, when I actually encounter a person using the undercover brella, it actually lands 2 hits to splat me, even if I’m just barely out of its range for only just one of its ink pellets to hit me. (This also applies to the other brellas) If we don’t get a patch to get brellas fixed by next season, *_I’m starting to be convinced that the Grizzco brella is the only S tier brella, while the others are in “Broken Brella Hell” tier_*

I feel like instead of a rapid fire shotgun with a shield it would be better for the brella to be a short ranged charge weapon. You charge it with the shield up then take the shield down and fire it. Fast charge speed but a short range burst and moderate damage

It's a Brella that allows you to shoot while firing. The shield regens when you splat someone or when you get an assist. It's the most supportive of all the Brellas despite it having an aggressive kit.

When your team is in synch and you’re setting mine traps all over the place (enabled by the shield) it feels like you’re controlling the entire map. No weapon comes close to that feeling for me. Definitely second others, the clutch thing with this weapon are the mines, suits it perfectly. A different special and buffed damage (45ish instead of 40) would be nice though.

I have a copy pasta that I wrote about the undercover, which I will now copy and pasta To be 100% honest, I do think undercover is extremely underrated, and I'm talking about the vanilla kit, it's got a lot of things about it people just don't know and therefore they think it's bad, but if you get to know the weapon and play it right, it's actually a useable weapon, unlike what a lot of people think about it, being literally terrible and easily the worst weapon and unusable in all cases. First, yes it takes 3 shots when u hit directs, which is pretty slow, which is the main thing people use to argue that this weapon is so bad for, that the splattershot 3 shots but fires so much faster than the undercovers 3 shots. But the thing that everyone seems to forget about it is that it can shield while doing damage, and that is a huge huge thing about it. Because if a shot and an undercover brella go into a fight, yes the shot has a much faster kill time but how will you be able to kill the undercover if they have a shield up, while the shot is killing the shield with its high damage, the undercover can still be doing damage in the meantime and most of the time, the shot will break the shield once the undercover gets its 3 shots off, killing them easily in every scenario, the undercover user won't even taken any damage. And I know what you may be thinking, "that's only if you hit all your shots though'' well yes, true, but if you were the shot and you missed your shot would you lost the right, yeah probably, if you miss with undercover of course you die, just like every other weapon duh. So as long as you actually hit ur shots you will be in a good spot, just like any other weapon would be. Hit your shots, kill people, stay alive. And another thing about the undercover most people don't know is, as long as the crosshair has an x over it, aka your aiming at an opponent, it will always do 40 damage. Unlike other brellas you can still do like 56 damage with a crosshair with the splatbrella, and 68 damage with a tent with a crosshair. The undercover is special, it's easier to hit a direct shot with it, as long as you have a crosshair on your target, it will do full damage. So, you have a shield that can easily protect you in 1v1s, and easy to do 40 damage directly, what about 2v1s or 3v1s? This is a little harder but if you're ever in a sicario where you're fighting more than one person, you may or may not know this but for every assist or kill you get your shield back instantly. So if you're in a fight with more than one person, it's important to focus on one person, target one person and get them dead so you can get a shield regen and move on to killing the next person. Don't try to hit this person once, then hit this person twice, bcs you have low dps and you won't get the kills and your shield will break and you'll die. So if you ever are forced to fight 2v1s then go for one person at a time. But most of the time you want to not challenge those fights, instead retreat. It's always good to retreat temporarily, therefore you can regen health and regen your shield hp if you need. Yep, every time your shield isn't pulled it, it instantly starts regenning any damage it took, and quite fast too. Always pay attention to your shield hp because without your shield, you are the weapon with the slowest kill time in the game, never go in a fight with a weak shield. Now for the kit, another main reason why people say this weapon sucks, the kit doesn't fit the play style apparently. But I'm here to say it's a great kit for it. People usually say that ink mine is a terrible sub for it but i think it's the best sub for it, it can track people sharking around so you can jump on them and kill them, and as long as they're hit by ur ink mine, it does damage to them, and each time your hit with an ink mine, that's one less shot required for the undercover to kill. Ink mines are a lifesaver for the undercover brella, set them up like crazy, you never know when they will be what is needed to get that final hit on someone. Even behind you, if you go too back up to regen your shield, and people follow you and run into ur 2 ink mines set up? They're one shot, squid roll forward and finish them off. Burst bomb can do that, undercover needs every drop of ink in their tank they can get when in a fight, no time to throw a burst bomb, also the ink mine can be used to attack without disrupting your shield while you're attacking. If undercover had burst bomb, I would argue it wouldn't work for it because you have to pull down your shield to throw it, leaving you exposed and you can die easily. Trust me, ink mine on undercover is much better than you think. People have also said reefslider doesn't work with the play style of undercover, idk what undercover you guys are talking about, this thing seems really aggressive, with the mine spam and the slaying of splashes and shots, reefslider is great for it, and with the buff that it has more invincibility frames,better damage and radius, it's even better. Reefslider is good for getting in and getting people caught in their own territory, so when fighting someone and they run away weak, reefslider in and finish them off before they run away. And in other scenarios, when you slide in and people don't die, 60 damage combos perfectly with the 40 damage directly that the undercover does(now it does 70 damage so its even easier to kill), could get a trade or even a kill. And remember how easy it is to hit directs with the undercover. The last thing I would like to say is, people always complain that undercover doesn't have an entry tool, no torp or splat bomb to get in, but I would argue that undercover has the best tool that no other weapon can have, which is safe painting. You can reclaim enemy turf safely with your shield up and even if someone tries to kill you, you have a shield, slowly take back turf over time and set up mines pushing the front lines back forward. But don't feed, if it gets repainted back over, paint it back again, charge your special and let your teammate charge there, if someone short range tried to kill you, kill with with you great 1v1ing weapon, get a pick and now its a 3v4 and you can get back in easier. Now what am I trying to prove? I'm now saying the undercover is without flaws and you all non chads just don't see it, I'm not saying the undercover should be top tier, I'm just saying undercover is much more than most people see, the weaknesses it has can be worked around, undercover will probably always die to slosher or blasters or get one shotted by chargers and bombs, (which you will learn to start expecting them and when you go to fight a t tek, pull down ur shield for a quicky and let them throw their sub and you can keep ur shield) But the undercover is a useable weapon that deserves more, and people just don't know how to use it, undercover is great at distractions and stalling and flanking, like a brush but instead of super fast that allows you to survive, a shield that helps you survive. I just wanted to say this because I feel like everyone has been brainwashed into thinking undercover is the trash weapon and it will never be good at anything. Thank you for coming to my ted talk that no one asked for and I'm probably going to get flamed saying I'm an undercover brella simp lmaoo, or get told jesus it's just a weapon, calm down lmaoo, I've seen this before. I just like to rant sometimes and get my thoughts out, because I feel like I say the same things over and over again sometimes.

I think I played against you in anarchy series and you were using V brella. Im ngl, you were destroying me with that thing if it was you. I didn't believe it to be you because I remember in splat 2 when you did tearing it up with it you said it was one of your worst weapons. So i take it you've already done the recording for the splat brella

The kit is the ultimate proof that the devs have no clue what they're doing with kits. Splatoon 2 Vunder had splashdown to fit the spy movie aesthetic along with the mines. Instead of pulling out some big special weapon the "spy" would pull out surprisingly strong close quarters combat skills to beat up the bad guys. In Splatoon 3, they just gave it Reefslider because it's code was originally based off of Splashdown. As if it makes sense for a secret agent to pull out a giant inflatable shark. The kit was bad in 2 but the reason why was because they were trying to be cute and thematic. In 3 there's no excuse or reason, they just didn't bother to put any thought into it. Also my Dream kit is Undercover with Burst Bomb and Big Bubbler DO IT YOU COWARDS!
