Every PS1 game looks good in high resolution on an emulator. Lowering the resolution on the emulator would be more representative of actual PS1 footage. I still love those vids btw! Keep em coming!

I've just said this same thing. I love emulation, but what's the point in talking about "impressive PS1 games" if you're not going to present them at least CLOSE to what they look like on original hardware? Super irritating.

To be fair we used CRT displays for our PS1's, which came with their own anti-aliasing and also handled interlacing much better. HDTV's and their crisp well defined pixels made low resolution look worse.

Great work! My only critique is that you used upscaled, higher-resolution footage to show off these games and how they're graphically impressive; I feel like showing them off at their native resolution would've been way more effective ^^

Yeah the OG PS1 graphics look a lot different than when emulated, you get the dithering effect and the resolution is far lower, you see the individual pixels especially on straight moving lines.

The video starts with Soul Blade, outstanding! I remember playing Soul Blade with four friends at home and having so much fun for hours on weekends. I’ve never thought that after Wipeout XL a better Wipeout game couldn’t possible arrive on PSone then suddenly Wipeout 3 did and blew my mind. Great video and amazing games as well. It's incredible how many of the most graphically impressive games on the system were also the beginning (or at least some of the first games) of successful franchises Soul Calibur, Wipeout, Ace Combat, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve, Soul River, etc. Gotta say the obvious thing but... what an impressive console it was the psONE!

LOL! This isn't what the PS1 games actually look like on a PS1. Try setting up 2 of the same model TV next to each other, then compare Rayman for PS1 with Rayman for N64. The N64 looks like a hand-drawn cartoon, while the PS1 looks like a mess of broken lines. If you play a racing game on PS1, even the road doesn't look smooth. It looks like a road with severe acne.

Soul Blade along with Crash Bandicoot are the first two games I played on the PlayStation and they blew my mind at the time. They also stood the test of time. I can play them anytime without a problem while many other PS1 games just don't cut it by today's standards.

@@balakumaran8510 Use Retro Arch with Beetle PSX HW instead, iirc epsxe was discontinued and is lacking tons of features, in retro arch you can upscale the games up to 8k and apply several filters, anti aliasing etc...

Soul edge and omega boost, are hugely underrated along with a few others on the list. These all are great examples of what can be done on the ps1 when in the hands of skilled developers.

Hello: new subscriber. This list disappointed me. My history with the PS1 dates back to 1998. In other words, first-hand knowledge. Very good call on 'Resident Evil 2', "Ace Combat 3' and Ridge Racer 4. However, these are 5 notable omissions: *Crash Bandicoot 1-3 , Fear Effect, Pac-Man World , Knockout Kings 2000* , and *NBA Live 99* . Sidenote: I was a huge Driver series fan. That said, Driver 2 was virtually unplayable due to graphical/performance limitations and doesn't belong in this particular video. You do have a solid channel. Take care.

Legacy of kain : Soul Reaver would have been the ps1's god of war franchise.. The game had it all..: action, puzzle, history, new abilities,. etc. To me it's like Soul Reaver was a metroidvania 3d game.

I played Ace Combat 3 way too many times in my teenage days. It was AMAZING. It was super futuristic for its time. That's when I fell in love with Ace Combat series. And Megaman Legends was a game that it perfectly fits as a PS2 game. Good choice of games!

Ironically, Dino Crisis 1 being fully realtime 3d with dynamic cameras made it way more impressive than the "easy soup" of Dino Crisis 2, which had already been seen countless times in similar games

I just came from part 1, seething that Soul Blade wasn't in it. In all honesty though, it was the second game I ever played on PS1 and it blew me away. My GOAT, no question.

@Xenos just a clearer picture? Just play Resident evil 3 in the original Playstation and play it again at 1080p, they are two different games. In the video, that resident evil 3 is running with a mod that clears the prerendered environments. You can't reach that level with an emulador, it looks even better than Code Verónica on Xbox One.
