ThatViolaKid Hey! So I have an audition for a youth orchestra in less than a week and I'm absolutely TERRIFIED. If I don't get in I won't be able to see one of my closest friends for probably a year. What's something I should know before I audition?

3:05-4:17 Nice preformence of the Courante. I'm acually learning suite 1 now and that was great on a Viola!

That was some great insight. When getting on stage I always struggled with anxiety and focus. I looked at the crowd, the judges, and that made me more nervous. From now on I will focus on one thing and stare at it that way I can calm my emotions. Thanks!

You're such an inspiration to me. I also started playing my instrument (bass guitar) when I was 13 (12 turning 13) and I wanted to play the double bass after I turned 15 but wasn't able to get one because my family isn't very rich. But the school I go to has rented one out for me, and I now currently take lessons at my local Conservatorium (for bass in general) and am looking forward to studying jazz bass at uni (if I get in). I wasn't sure about going to music school but last year something snapped in me that made me go "there's no way I'm not going to spend my life playing music" and after watching your videos I can't help but get even more pumped and practice even more. TY VIOLAKID KEEP MAKING VIDEOS 😊

What size viola do you happen to play? I'm about to begin playing viola and I absolutely love the boomy sound of your instrument. (I know it's not all about the size of the viola). But thank you!

Much of competition anxiety indeed comes from people's heads and negativity from within. Practice, think positive and be positive. 🎻🥇🎻

I like to listen to piano music before I perform because it helps me calm down and it reminds me of my piano teacher from my undergrad because I would get nervous playing piano for him and he would always tell me to not be scared and to relax and he would assure me that I would be okay

This might seem a bit negative, but can you talk about any bad experiences you've had with conductors or chamber partners (if you've had any, you're a lovable person to me xD)? I'm curious how you dealt with this sort of thing, particularly if there was some sort of biased against you. Even if there was just slight reservations, like you could tell the person(s) didn't want to work with you.. people tryna be smart-alecs with you over small details in a snobbish way.. things like that. P.S Did you change your viola or am I just seeing things :o, the varnish looks a bit different?

It's played on cello mostly so that's how I know it. I found it quite interesting that you phrased the courante on the 2nd beats of the beginning few measures. Of course I'm a cellist and not a violist. Different instruments have different styles of playing. The Bach was top notch!
