Was just about to write this... Myco/Storm/Bismuth are way cheaper than Weavercloth, so this thaumaturgy makes no sense whatsoever... With this in mind, this does not explain the quantity of Weavercloth staying same... However, I have tailor, and on daily level I buy tens of thousands of Weavercloth to flip them into bolts, and this does keep the total amount rather stable (not to mention people who flip it for storm dust either directly or through shatter)... So, while I do agree that Thaumaturgy is causing market volatility, it is actually not how it is presented in this video. I think that it generally draws the prices down across the board, cause if the price of Mycobloom is low, I would buy it, transmute it to Weavercloth and will cause increase of supply, reducing the price of Weavercloth...

Nice analysis. Personally, with a skinning/LW main (obviously, I'm not a min/max goblin to have made such a choice!), I'm delighted, because (unlike in past expansions), my time skinning is still very relevant. Thanks to thaumathurgy, I can sell the stuff for more than usual on the AH, OR I can send the chitlin to a thauma alchemy alt to turn into luredrop and orchinid for another alt in flask alchemy, OR I can use my LWing turn it into cheap cuffs to have my enchanting alt disenchant, etc. The possible synergies are extensive, and thaumathurgy helps all the basic mats stay relevant well past the date the expansion dropped. Well done Blizzard, for providing a complex farming/crafting system with lots of options.

In NA at least Weavercloth is double the cost of Mycobloom. Basically you're turning Mycobloom, Stormcharged Leather, Gloom Chitin and to a lesser extent Blessing Blossom into half the amount of more valuable materials (also converting rank 1 mats into rank 2 materials in the process). The initial process or press as I call it is always a loss. Currently doing Mycobloom as I'm watching this first press resulted in a -20k loss. Second step is thaumaturgying the transmutugen sitting at a -4k loss after the second press of doing all transmutugens once. Next step is Blasphemite from the gleaming transmutugen, now sitting at 3k profit. I have some leather, Mycobloom and Gloom Chitin I could run through again but basically all the rank 2 Bismuth, Luredrop, Arathor's Spear, Blessing Blossom gets sent to Miner/herbalist to turn into rank 3. Cloth goes to tailor, Aqirite/Ironclaw melted by prospector, Storm Dust sold on resets or stuffed in Warbank for enchanters, Blasphemite for Jeweler's settings. I haven't lost gold yet on thaumaturgy but the margins are narrow but everything it makes I pretty much have a use for tops off any shortages in Warband Bank for crafters when it comes to materials.

from my point of view, this is a good thing. with the introduction of the deadly gathering nodes it lowers new mat bots. the prices have been high for mats due to that. with alch it can add more of harder to gather mats to the overall market thus lower the price eventually.

Im making a lot of gold turning tier 3 gloom citin into tier 3 lure drop and orbinid with daily concentration, and using the bi products to do gleaming chaos ;3

I buy 1 million gold chitin gloom, break it and sell the resulting aqirite, orbinid, luredrop and blasphemite. I also sell materials from mercurial, volatile and ominous. Is there anything I'm missing?

Making gold from thaum is a bit beyond me I think. Even with a spreadsheet to guide, I spent a couple of hours converting and selling and made almost 0 gold last weekend. I'm guessing the thaumaturgists making any money are doing something else tricky - like feeding some of the resulting mats into other professions for some gain.

Completely disagree with the premise here. I suggested it be added last expansion, and they did(Because they often do for day 1 accounts like mine). The reason is because it prevents any one material from getting oversaturated and price crashed. I'm not sure why you think it's a good thing for supply to bloat and prices to crash.. That's the point where the economy is worthless and the most time efficient gold making strategy is waiting until patch day. It's the biggest flaw of MMOs, and Thaumaturgy is an elegant solution to the problem. And honestly, even maxed with BIS craft gear, it's not that profitable, the guys doing it 24/7 aren't making much. But that's an acuity shuffle problem, No profession is really valuable since Blizz decided to listen to the whiners and make it super easy to max out. The only thing wrong with Transmutation is the fact they confused the cooldown of the Blasphemite recipe with the Gleaming Chaos recipe, and the intern was too embarrassed to fix it after release.

Goblins screwing with the ecnomy to make more gold in order to screw with the economy more is causing a lot of problems for regular players. Economic pvp is not healthy for games

He is just pulling the community and benefiting from the common knowledge.
