Thawne is the last person to be telling anyone to move on with their lives. One of the saddest things about the Reverse Flash in Any media is that he could have stopped anytime. Disassociate himself with the Flash and moved on with his life and changed his fate. But no instead he would rather live a lonely, spiteful life of trying to One up the person he admires the most. All because he feels this is the only thing that's meaningful in his life, what a sad life.

@Art Cannot Be Killed Barry was in the wrong and he realized it especially after jays talk. It’s why he is very against messing with time as shown with Cisco, Nora (other reasons too), and anyone else who does even on accident. Eobard on the other hand didn’t grow out of his fanboy phase yet still bashed Caitlyn for her “not” moving on. Barry isn’t a hypocrite in terms of that imo. Technically speaking, the timeline we have seen has always been the timeline caused by eobard killing nora. The og timeline was shown to be vastly different. In sadness/anger Barry just “fixed” the timeline but a las time travel doesn’t work like that. Hell we do see Barry once again trying to fix it. Don’t forget he hasn’t changed time too much besides the weather wizard situation. He was an armature time traveler.

@@MewMaxing you're right about that. Thawn was a much more interesting character when he was divided over his feelings. Team Flash wasn't his family, in fact they were supposed to be his enemies, but he ended up caring for them anyway. His ambition drove him to do what he had to, like when he killed Cisco in Season 1, but he still regretted having to do it anyway. That's complexity and good writing. This Thawn just feels flat compared to the first one. They should have had his moment with Caitlin be like "knowing I'd have to make you all hate me was the biggest regret I had about going home."

This was perhaps the most real scene with Caitlin since season 2, and believe me when I say, that is seriously saying something. The fact that Caitlin hasn't had a decent moment to shine both in her character and as a person really feels like a disservice, but this right here, we finally got to see her react to the man that has basically been tormenting her life for YEARS. Let me say that again, YEARS. Eobard Thawne has been tormenting Caitlin Snow since the first moment he took Harrison Wells's face and began working on the particle excelerator. And now, Caitlin had a chance to show how she really felt about him, and the sheer coldness in her voice was epic. Thawne was constantly trying to get a rise out of her, but after everything she's been through, she was able to put up a wall between him and her. He couldn't phase her anymore, and that is something I really love to see in a character.

And the only irony in all this is that through that manipulation she gained TRUE friends and REAL family who have spent the last eight years watching her back and protecting her through her darkest moments. And I think the fact that he has no humility and not one kind word to say to her makes it all the more infuriating to be in the same room with him.

I just loved this scene. After watching it I realized that when we saw Thawne it was always related to Barry, because of Flash VS Reverse-Flash stuff, Thawne being the nemesis of Barry and so on. But we never saw Cait talk about it, not really... But Thawne killed Ronnie in a way, and I'm glad they finally have the opportunity to talk, and Cait to express her feelings about this. Idk… on one hand I’ve been rooting for Caitlin since season 1 and still watch the show for her but even I have to agree that she hasn’t really been written well if at all. Seasons 4 and 5 I felt they massively reduced her screen time as a character and with season 6 she was gone so frost could live her life since they were sharing a body. Keeping her single was a good move with the mess of her love life from seasons 1-3 but usually in television having a love interest is linked heavily with getting screen time. It was the same with Bonnie in TVD and why her character was treated like dust (as well as primarily Antiblackness and racism) by not getting a proper love interest like the other 2 leads. After all these years I feel like the damage has been done. We don’t even see her personal life (which doesn’t have to be a love interest considering how badly written those love arcs were in the past) but even a damn friend or new person in her life? Cisco got a new gf, iris got Allegra and Barry, idk I’ve just always noticed how lonely Caitlin is compared to everyone and to put it bluntly it makes her character boring which translates to years of bare minimum screen time and character developing. Even adding a new friend for her would increase screen time and add to her character, it would entail seeing how she is outside of her job and how she handles situations in a relationship. They could’ve even elaborated more on her relationship with her old colleague turned villain and how their relationship could reconcile after he expressed remorse for his evil acts in season 6 but they even put more emphasis on his relationship to Barry (still a complete stranger to him) than her. Thawne is right in that she needs to move on from team flash or they need to show more of a relationship with her and the team (I.e. disagreements, support, being challenged to be a better person by a close friend when a situation is thrown at her, bonding with iris and Cecile, Batwoman and Alex being invited to iris’s future ceremony over her (that was weird)). It's just been scaps since her alter identity was introduced. I don’t even think her and Allegra can be considered acquaintances much less family because they don’t put any emphasis on Caitlins relationships/screen time unless it’s a Caitlin-centric episode once every 2 seasons rather than sprinkling small moments between her and the team like they do with everyone else (even prior to season 7, Cisco was shown visibly closer to the team than her) which makes her character boring by proxy. They even downplay her use as a doctor compared to earlier seasons which makes her character useless and easily replaceable especially when she’s no longer a powerful meta human and this is coming from someone who again ROOTS for her the most on this show. I’ll have to stop watching if they keep her on this constant path.

Interesting analysis of Caitlin's character. I dropped the show a while ago and Caitlin's treatment as a character from the show was a big factor considering how I felt they prioritize Killer Frost over her.

This scene was A1. Along with the Barry/Thawne scene & Joe/Iris/Barry scene. The originals just killed it this episode. I wish Cisco was in it for an interaction with Thawne though. Would have been icing on the cake. Especially if he brought up how Thawne killed him in an alternate timeline.

He made the particle accelerator happen 5 years early when he killed the 1st Harrison Wells, stole his face, his id, and life, all just to get Barry fast enough to return to the future. And it didn't workout. Thawne is too ignorant to realize that, or he does know but doesn't care. The 1st part with Barry was for nothing, killed Nora and framed Henry to prevent Barry from becoming the flash for nothing, he attempts to get the Spear of Destiny for nothing; and now creating a reverse flashpoint was all...for nothing.

I like how they have there reverse flash now( I always liked how he is in this show but I said that because if you see the scene in this episode we’re he talks to Barry you just finally understand just how petty he is through his origins) and I hope they don’t change him but the one thing that I wish that they kept was his attachment to the flash team season 1. It could only be me but I like that about him he literally did so many awful things that he burned that bridge so many way that no one would want to fix it especially after nora but you could still see the connection he made to the og team in some of his reactions even in legends Thawne says he remembers his time with team flash that he actually cared about. But at the same time I understand why they don’t want to keep going with it because it would be meaning less especially after nora were even some fans don’t want to deal with that part of him and just want to hate him (including me). Sorry for the long thing I just wanted to talk about this because I honestly liked that about this version of the character.

In relation to another person’s comment, I didn’t realize that since s1 thawne was erased from existence, Thawne has been getting worse and worse. And I realize that’s because season 1 for 15 years he wasn’t connected to the Negative Speed force, he was running on fumes and as such his Hate was gone, he was his actual self not being manipulated making his anger heightened with the Negative Speed Force. And after that he reconnected to it, and has become more angry, and spiteful, and sadistic. That’s why he was so different in season 1. Similarly with in Season 5, he seemed more like season 1 thawne, because hw was stopped from using his speed from the dagger.
