Trying out some new soap today with an old favorite razor. Also using a King C Gillette blade for the second time, to see how it does in the 3ONE6 razor.

Hi Ken, i always hand apply my shaving cream after i have sat in a hot bath for 15 mins. Then i get the brush to work on my growth to really soften the beast. I know you have warned us previously but those Feathers are lethally sharp ! Only done 2 wet shaves that where not cartridge or straight razor but the closeness with my Muhle R41 is almost unbelievable. I am a Polo Green Man and it is becoming more difficult to get but the "burn" is bordering on S&M !

My first DE (after 25 years of cartridge use) is an Edwin Jagger DE86. Not too aggressive and perfect for someone who, like me, is out of practice. I also have a Yaqi open comb razor but on reflection don't have sufficiently thick beard growth to use it. I use it with Astra Platinum green blades but have just bought Voskhod Teflon coated blades. I would like a longer handle on my EJ.

Nice shaving video, Paul I usually use Derby blade in this razor and get a very nice shave but with feather blade I get nicks most of the times, when I purchased this razor only silver color was available so I had no other option except to buy that, I think the whole Stainless Steel knurled handle razor looks better as the other handles are of Aluminum, anyway the shaving quality of all the EJ 316 razors is similar as the head is the same👍👍👍

Sorry to hear that you lost subscribers due to what you review. I try and avoid buying anything made in China and I have a rocky relationship with modern Gillette but I still enjoy the reviews of those products once in awhile. I always put a few drops of Witch hazel on the brush then face lather and shave . Then rinse with warm then cold water. Splash witch hazel on my face then rub Vitamin E oil on my face and neck. It's a process but you only live once

I find that getting the right water/soap ration is tricky. It also depends on the brush, since there are brushes that hold a lot of water, other don't, so is really a trial and error thing.

I’m with you on the shave cream. What’s the point if you don’t get to use a brush? That’s why I didn’t pick up the Cremo that I saw at Walgreens Thursday. They want you to rub it on as well. Stay safe and try to stay comfortable in that mask and gloves. I think I’m going to have a heatstroke trying to breath through those things.

Thayers probably had this made for them, as they're are not soap makers🙄 but still the performance is lacking a little IMHO. Great shave. I heard that someone claimed that the King C Gillette blades are possibly Gillette Nacets, but I don’t know if that’s true or false. My cousin was supposed to have a wedding in Mexico that my dad’s side of the family was invited to, but of course, COVID-19 fucked it up. As a result, we’ll have to wait till after the pandemic ends. Aqua Velva Musk smells nice but a little bit potent for my taste, but it works decent.

Hey ken did a shave with the King C Gillette razor with a Gillette platinum blade and it felt very dull and I switched the blade to the King C Gillette blades and it was sharper.... Definitely not the same blade.

I always find Thayers products very good, but like you I like using a brush, but I’d give this cream a go. Do you own a Muhle Rocca razor or have I missed you using it Ken? I just bought the matte finish one and it is a superb piece of shaving kit, truly awesome. Stay safe Ken!

So I tried that same shaving cream. I didn’t like it. Harder to lather. Thinned our during the shave. Didn’t perform that well at all for me. Tried it numerous times, sadly it’s one I had to give a thumbs down to.... We always see a 2 pass shave.... let’s see that 3rd pass shave!! Also to quote Ben Franklin “Be bold, shave cold!” Want to see you have a cold shave!!! Cold water.... cold water to rinse the razor in!! Basically a freezing razor head while h shave, and ice bucket rinse!! Tbh when I do a cold shave, I get a lot less irritation! But I found a shave oil that gives me way less irritation. 11:04 soap in the ear???!!!

Yep, it's the same P&G factory near St. Petersburg. They make Astra, Sputnik, Gillette 7 O'clock, Platinum and Rubie and used to make Polsilver (I guess it was discontinued).

Thank You for the review....I wanted to buy this cream but after seeing how it lathered I am glad I did not buy it. Though it was not available in India...I had to import it if I had to get it. Thank You very much Mr. Ken. Btw in a video I saw you use an Omega boar with a red and clear acyrillic handle. I saw in a local site which said that it had synthetic boar bristles. That site even enlisted the Omega pro 48 in the synthetic boar category. Do you think it can just be a mistake on their behalf or do synthetic boars actually exist ? I want to try a boar in the near future.
