Nice video, I've grew up running the 1/4, never really like the 1/8, but know i see the advantages of the shorter pass,especially saving your valve train life👍🏽👍🏽

th400 with 2nd gear leave youll want a 4.30-4.88 gear, reg th400 youll want a 3.23, 1.80 glide youll be 3.55-3.73, 1.69 glide 3.73-3.90.. thats basically the gear ratios used in no prep.

@widowmaker46182 жыл бұрын
rear gear depends on rpm range, nitrous or not , and converter range . I run a 4.88 on one nitrous car and a 4.56 on my big block nitrous car for 1/8 mile . launching is a problem with the steeper gears but you get a good 60 ft time if it hooks

1/8th mile is safer for speeds achieved. But is it really about your traction or the entire set up to go fast. If your worried about speed and saftey...build a jr dragster. They only run the 8th also!

Not an 1/8 mile fan, but I totally understand. Others I have talked to that went to 1/8 mile say it saves parts. I have a couple of questions for you, one, why did you choose 4:30s and not 4:88s or 5:13s for the 1/8? Second question is, are you going to ditch the 28 spline setup for a more race worthy 31 or 35 spline setup to go with the 4:30s? Take care, keep wrenchin' and best of luck with the interview and the 2022 racing season. Peace out!

everyone was tricked into voting for z max as it was supposed to get racing off the streets in the piedmont region of NC. They had ONE only ONE race that allowed street cars on the track for the public. such a con job.

Nothing wrong with running 1/8th mile. While it's fun to do those really high speed 1/4 passes, all the acceleration in the first 330 is where it's at. And why hide the ETs? Unless you are making a lot of money doing cash bet races or running something like a Duck event, there shouldn't be anything keeping you from posting them. Heck, once you race against someone we know, we'll have a pretty good idea what it's running, anyway. Finally, Vikings are great. I have them on my S-10 and they are really well built and do the job like a champ. Think you'll like 'em!

Totally disagree!! If every track goes 1/8 mile (and many of them are and have), I'll be done drag racing!!! Also, your argument about how "dangerous" 1/4 is on the street as apposed to 1/8 is just dumb!!! Haven't you been paying attention son? What are these guys running in an 1/8 nowadays? Yeah, most are running 150-200 MPH!!!! Don't tell me 1/4 is more dangerous, it just sounds dumb as hell!! And have you been keeping count of how many people have been dying the last few years with this 1/8th mile racing on the streets? Yeah Okay, I'm done with this!!! Don't get me wrong, I love most of your stuff, but that wasn't one of your brightest moments. I'm a 1/4 mile guy, always have been, always will be. I don't race on the streets, because it's about the dumbest shit people can do!!! But hey, if you wanna take your life and everyone else's in your hands for a couple of seconds to show off, then by all means, enjoy, but I won't be there!!!
@rudde67ssm622 жыл бұрын
Indeed, he mentioned southern Louisiana, and he is flat out wrong. Theres 2 tracks in southern La. They are 1/4 tracks, and no they are not switching to 1/8 mile only. They do have events that are 1/8 mile but thats about it. Their car counts are shit, esp on the street shootouts.
@Boostismyfriend2 жыл бұрын
1/4 is boring, if you can get it done in the 1/8 you should quit racing lol
@HemiSlant68287 ай бұрын
I'll agree with you about street racing being stupid, and I see where you're coming from when it comes to what you're saying about 1/4 speeds and 1/8 mile speeds, but there is one thing to consider. 1/8 mile is a lot easier, and a lot cheaper to prep, at least here in the pacific northwest. From my experience, tracks like Seattle and Woodburn are hard to race the full 1/4 mile on because it could be raining on one end of the track, and completely dry on the other. It's a lot easier to judge rain with 1/8 mile tracks.
