Thanks for the time slip 101 video. There is a ton of good info in this video besides just reading the time slip. Why the car isn't really the most critical component of a run, especially for newbies (like me).

So I ran my challenger srt8 392 agenst a scatpack 392 the only difference between us his is a 2021 and I got the 5 speed and a tune. Howcome I got a slower time down the track but I still won the race? Does the RT count in the compleate time slip?

Yes but how much would it cost to change cam and headers if you took it to a shop? I have to wonder if you could trade the car for a faster car for less money?

I've never even been to a race track. But I'm really hoping to change that. I can't afford a fast car and my 96 Buick Roadmaster sedan will never be fast. Especially with the 2.56 open diff. I just want to be able to drive fast without going to jail. There's only so much you can do on the street

I'm trying to get better with launching my Challenger SRT8, and am using line lock to do after heating the tires. I've got an electronic plug-in play unit called the burnbox and pop's right into the OBD port, it's one of the most innovative products I've seen for these late model machines.Yeah the 5.7s are good entry-level V8s, but wouldn't put a lot into it and would go at least scat pack if you want to be more serious about drag racing. Is so much better than the old traditional way of tapping into the braking systems, and don't have to worry about leaks etc anymore. Is by a company called Z automotive, and was about half the price of the old school ones to

juck huo if you want to slow your reaction time. Depends on the tires. Fronts I easily can take out 10 pounds. I don't like fronts on mine less than 20. Rear, only take out a few pounds.
@shop_night
@shop_night 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the car and tire. Mine has a tendency to spin, and it's lite in the rear, I dropped to 30lbs and it spins less. Look at the tire from the back, is it touching all the way across the tread? Mostly the middle remove pressure. Cupped up in the middle ... Add. You have to drop 5or10 and see if it goes faster. If you drop too far it'll start going slower.

Wheelstand energy is returned to the system when the car comes down, this energy is not lost.

Why do you think they run wheelie bars for?
@nordic5490
@nordic5490 6 жыл бұрын
Ourlaw, why wheely bars ? hmmm, maybe to stop the car flipping over bcak wards ? reduce the time in the air so to reduce a) aero drag, and b) the time before the front tyres touch again so as to regain steering control. Simple physics says that if you thow a ball up in the air, your input energy is converted to potential energy. When the ball falls, the potential energy is converted back to kinetic as it moves, then to force as you catch it. Energy is never lost. So, when a drag car returns to earth, the lofted potential enegy or the car is converted back to kinetic energy and hence additional forward rotational torque on the tyres as the car rotates forward. Energy is never lost.

What ever energy you are producing depending how you apply in drag racing will produce different results. Allowing the car to lift the front end, you are inherently not "losing energy" but more like misusing it to accelerate the car at a unwanted angle which "missuses" more energy at lifting the car then moving it forward. That same energy should be correctly used to accelerate the car at a horizontal angle hence reducing the elapse time during your race. Wheelie Bars have many pros, its main goal however is keeping the car down or angle of elevation at a optimal level so it can use all of its power/energy for forward, not upwards acceleration.
@nordic5490
@nordic5490 6 жыл бұрын
Orbelis: When the car rotates upwards, the some of the rotational torque on the tyres that whould have converted to linear forward force, is being conveted to 'potential' energy against the force of gravity. Much like when you raise your car on a hoist, you have converted the linear force of the hoist to increased potential energy od the mass of the car whilst it is sitting there. You would be come aware of this potential energy shpipd the hoist fail and the car fall on you. When the drag car falls forward back to the track, the faĺling and rotating forward motion of tye car converts this newly added potential energy to additional forward rotational torque on the tyres and hence the car is propelled forward faster. No engine energy is lost overall, some is converted to potential energy to make the wheel stand, and is converted back to forward motive force (the good stuff) when the car falls back to earth. Infact, a wheel stand may help stop the drag car from breaking traction for two reasons; a) some of the excesive torque to temporarily diverted away from the tyres, and b) maximum downward force is applied to the rear tyres.
