I have a 316i 1.9 singlecam, it is the most reliable car ive had on the track so far, 2 years on the limitet constantly and only put in petrol and tyres 👌 be comitted and dont let off thats the way to drive them 😂😂

I had a m44 e36 beat on it Seventh days out of the week in Los Angeles to Long Beach traffic ac on the whole time from 5pm til midnight and then 5am to 8am never gave me issues,Act light flywheel and clutch car would rev Fast!! I love the 16v noise sounds like is on cans at idle

i drift a 320i, very similar power and i think you would regret that, while they are fun for learning third gear is basically un usable, i have a 4.45 and on the worst dry rotted tires i can just about get it to spin third, my car isnt gutted but still a 328 should give me better access to third which opens up a lot of possibilities. im considering putting a m42 in a e30 for my friend to learn but i will be upgrading to 2.8

I twincharged my m44 with the dasc supercharger kit and a 70mm turbo. Plus 2 stages of nitrous. I use to drag race it, but it was boring so I turned it into a drift car instead

M42 is 1.8, M44 is 1.9

m43 is a chain driven upgrade to a m40, the are sohc, come in 1.6 and 1.9. this is a m44 which is 1.9 dohc and the m42 is a 1.8 dohc its about 20-30 hp difference which doesnt sound like much but its a 25% bump and more torque so they are much more lively. if you are in america i think you only get the m42 and m44
