No, it's not clickbait. There's really one simple thing you can do 10x your results in mixing and music production right away. Too many beginners never think of it. But all the pros never think twice about it. They just do it.

100%. my fastest growth in the last year has been comparing my mixes with other, more experienced people.... of the same song and seeing where I went well & were I need to improve. its ironed one bad habit completely and I've learnt a couple of techniques along the way. must faster growth than just watching YT tutorials.

I agree and a good example to prove your point is Martin Garrix. Just look at every song he released, it's 95% collaborations with other musicians

I feel like we're buddies. We absolutely speak the same language, haha. I've produced for almost 30 years. Was an artist w Universal for 3 rap albums. I engineer as well. Since adats before computers. So I know what the fat warm analog sound sounds like. Im 50 years old and produce a bunch of kids that rap and what separates me from all these other new producers besides the experience is that , the analog world that these kids never worked with before. Without the UAD plugins I'll bring that sound out. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that I completely get everything you say and talk about. Feels good to listen to someone that knows what they're talking about. Actually the reason I'm hitting you up is because I hope you're in LA. So we can maybe meet up in a session my studio or yours. haha IDK Like I said feels like we know each other. Like Dj Quik OMG feels the same way with that guy we are identical but he's a bit hard to get a hold of. Anyhow bud keep it up I like your style. no homo lol haha you iight w me. Would love to touch base Maybe you can complement some of my music one day. Im actually the baddest latin rapper there's ever been. I swear you would agree ,,, Politics wrong timing, my history is quite unbelievable...so underrated.Im focused on engineering now and scoring. What you said at 11 minutes. I always tell my artist if you're the baddest dude in your camp GOOD! now get the hell out of there and go find a new camp, go find new friends THAT ARE BETTER THAN YOU cuz you'll NEVER get better where you're at.

Not telling the reader the main point of the full article/video/etc. in the title is one of the hallmarks of clickbait. And writing "not clickbait" in the thumbnail doesn't change that.

That’s a good definition! And yet here we are 😄 Ironically though, in this specific video, it really is all about: 1. One major thing that practically all professionals do that most amateurs and hobbyists don’t 2. That practically no one talks about 3. That is a key contribution to professionals having dramatically better results dramatically faster than amateurs and hobbyists. I guess I could have given away what that one thing is in the title. But it would have made for an overly long and objectively terrible title that practically no one would have clicked on, and would have kept many thousands of people from benefiting from an extremely powerful and potentially life-changing concept and insight. (This is not an exaggeration.) Worse still, I could have just told people what this idea is in 5 seconds with no examples or emotional connection to it, if I wanted to be extra sure I could take a demonstrably powerful life hack and make it absolutely useless to people. So, with all that in mind, here’s a question for you: Pretend you have a KZbin channel, that you really believe in this idea and want people to benefit from it, even though you know it’s not an answer that people are directly searching or hoping for. You know they have to stumble into it somehow, because it’s not what they were wanting to hear. But you know that if they accept and internalize this idea it can and will change their lives for the better. (Not just in music, but everywhere they have goals.) How do you title the video to have maximum impact? I’m all ears! If you have something better and more effective, I will consider changing the title on the spot. Please let me know! Ultimately, I think that “sell people what they want, deliver what they need” is the best strategy for this kind of thing. As a side note, it’s kind of funny that by this definition of clickbait, a MrBeast video where he fills a swimming pool with a million whatchamacallits or takes a million dollar plane flight or whatever would technically not be clickbait because the clickbaity contents of the video match the clickbaity title. So, we get a litany of videos with millions of eyeballs that improve nothing meaningful in the viewer’s life, but that’s ok, because it’s technically not clickbait, as the useless spectacle and the subject line match 🙃 (No hate on MrBeast for this, and respect to him for reinvesting some of the funds earned this way into meaningfully changing some peoples’ lives.) But for those who have something useful and potentially profound to offer that the listener doesn’t know in advance that they need to hear, mystery clicks are a useful tool and always have been. (I’m sure this isn’t the first one you’ve ever clicked on yourself! Maybe you’ve even benefited from some of them directly?) There’s also a useful strategy as old as teaching itself to not directly answer a student’s question, but instead demonstrate how the flawed assumptions that gave rise to the question itself is leading them away from the answers that would bring them closer to their goal. Hope some of that makes sense! In any case, thanks for tuning in, thanks for the comment, and as they say “don’t hate the playa, hate the game.” -Justin PS: I’m serious-If you have a title recommendation that is both more precise and equally as effective, let me know and I would love to change it on the spot!

@@SonicScoop thanks for your lengthy reply, but unfortunately you've been setting up unnecessary strawmen. In saying that a (video, blogpost, newspaper, you name it) title should tell the audience the main point, nobody asked you to use lengthy, boring, unemotional etc. titles. Just tell the reader what they can expect. Maybe even add a bit more detail in the video description. For example, for this video (but caveat: I'm not claiming that the following ideas are good, but just to illustrate it) you could have used titles in the spirit of: Get better at mixing by soaking in the wisdom of others Why not harnessing the wisdom of more experienced people is holding you back You need to do is to listen to more experienced people and here's why Again, you can certainly do better than these titles, but I hope they showcase that you can give the audience a sense of what the video is about and why they should care. Sure, the titles don't tell you everything, but that would be an unrealistic expectations, their title not transcripts. As to Mr. Beast and the definition of clickbait. I wrote "one of the hallmarks of clickbait". I didn't write that titles that don't tell you what a video is about is a strictly necessary or sufficient criterion, so I don't understand why you would be putting up that strawman. So give it a try, you're an excellent communicator, I'm sure you can come up with conscience, engaging titles and don't let the audience wonder: what might this video be about (except, probably about mixing, mastering, and/or music production, the music industry more generally).
