The issue I've run into with these software programs is that they're not flexible enough on the scheduling side of things. In my home service business I often go to a client's house several times a year but can't know exactly when that will be very far ahead of time. Maybe I'll sell a contract that includes four summer visits, roughly: a visit first week of May, then again second week of June, and then first and third week of July. Maybe it's raining the second week of June and those jobs have to get moved to the following week. The first issue Jobber has with this is that one contract is one job and one job is one contract, whereas my four visits are four jobs but ideally all sold from one contract. So I would have to create and approve four contracts for one client. OK, not the end of the world, but how about when a client needs thirty jobs/ services/ visits in a year? Very cumbersome to create all those contacts, and then the next issue is trying to figure out how to schedule them without being able to pick out a specific date ahead of time because what I do is weather dependant. Think of someone who does lawn weed control for example. They might come a dozen times a year to a property, and their application timing cannot be easily foreseen, it will depend on how warm the spring has been, how much rain there has been, and then they have to have the right weather when they come so it often gets scheduled only a day or two in advance. How do you manage a business like that with a CRM or other software? Because I haven't seen any that can. Again the sales people at Jobber told me to their software can't easily do that.
@stephengeier7918
@stephengeier7918 Жыл бұрын
It depends on the business and the CRM. I know of CRM's that are made to be flexible like that for those exact reasons, but don't have the transactional features. That seems to me, what you're getting with jobber. A way to do transactions that's just somewhat unorthodox. So to try and answer your question, because it's a good one; you manage a business like yours with a CRM by choosing the right CRM that can do what you need it to do. There are a ton out there. Feel free to message me on here about this I can give you my contact info, I don't want to discuss this too much in detail on their thread. I don't want to be disruptive to their thread, and I don't see this as disruptive to their thread thus far. I think you and I have provided some clarity for people like yourself who are looking into using Jobber, so the Jobber rep doesn't have to waste their time telling you that their platform can't manage what you need it to, potentially leaving both parties unsatisfied. Which is fine, it just doesn't appear to be made to manage that, that's my point, respectfully. It appears to me to be made to smoothen out transactions. That's what I'm getting out of this video. So, for someone like you, like the Jobber rep told you, Jobber just isn't feasible. There are other CRM's built to manage exactly what you seem to need. Again, you can message me and I'd be happy to discuss this further with you, I'm not going to discuss other any other specific CRM's with you in this comment thread.

The things that really attracted me to jobber when I was an employee such as checklist, notes, etc don’t make sense as a solo cleaner for the price. Really sucks that the basic seem to be pointless especially with having a website. Tempting, but frustrating adding up all the cost.

If you’re just staring off, I don’t think you’d need the full features. Just a thought. If the business is thriving, or you have big plans, I’d debate that it is indeed worth it. The time it saves, and extra money it brings should even itself out quickly.

@@leesonneville1817 that's a double edge comment.... NOT having software to help run your business efficiently is one reason you may not succeed. If you don't have backend support to run your business, then you need to leverage a tool to help you. Your time as an owner should be focused on getting sales and growing your business. Not sending appointment reminders, collecting payment, etc.

Question: In my business I include tax and labor in the price so I can have a lower markup and charge more for labor. I don’t want to pay tax on labor obviously so can I do that with this? Does it force you to break down materials and labor? Does it force you to show tax? If I show tax for material they can then determine how much the labor is and because the labor rate is high and product cost low they are more likely to give me push back.. I really need a software like this but I keep getting hung up on this. I just want to give a lump sum price. I could solve this by charging a higher markup but then I pay more in tax right?
