Good info! It’s so important to be aware of those extra foot movements after a setup move. I think a lot of players lose their efficiency because of reacting to the defense instead of making the defense react to them.

I do that on my crossover and didn’t even realize. Too easy for the defense. Thanks Ryan!

Nice. Efficiency is very important. I've been guilty of this when doing between the legs in the past. Simple things like learning how to turn the corner properly on drives is essential too.

You see this little, 'extra hop' as you denote it a lot in younger players who don't practice moving into or out of between the legs dribble. Also, as an addendum, if I might add, as a kid, I made a conscientious effort to practice moving out of the between-the-legs dribble on several angles; ergo, as demonstrated here, the through to drive straight, off on a 45° angle and a side-ways, through-the-legs hop through. I'd highly recommend investing in one of those feet-placement mats that you see Micah Lancaster and his associates utilize, just so you have a visual reference and thereby can pattern in and impute the muscle memory on where to rapidly place one's feet.

Thanks coach! I have one question. I started doing strength training a few months ago and now my once smooth jump shot now seems strained. It feels awkward for me to shoot now and my once good shot now lacks arc. Should I move in closer to the hoop and iron out the awkwardness and then move back out to the perimeter? My mechanics are still fine so is it just a matter of working in my new muscle in my arms and core? Thanks again for the great video coach!!!

Hey, Ryan I just watched your hand placement shooting tutorial on ilovebasketball's channel and I just wanna say thank you for making that video as it has helped me decrease my left to right misses but I have one question and that is I have the problem of letting my guide hand off the ball too early slightly before my set point and I was wondering how I could fix this problem cause I have noticed that great shooters including you, hold the ball with their guide longer than me until the release or right before to prevent left to right misses. (btw. I don't have a thumb flick if that matters)

@felix65714 жыл бұрын
But wait, the hop was some kind of 'dance moves' they call to shake the defenders off. What I'm trying to say here is, in my opinion, two of these hops or no hops are both correct, it depends on the situation on how players use it. The hop is like a hesi, isnt it? There no defender in this video and it looked damn smooth, imagine there's one there and he managed to anticipate the move and got ahead of the dribbler, how you gonna blow him by then? No judgement, just curious bout it. Tryna learn here :)
@R2bball4 жыл бұрын
