One of the toughest things to do as a hooper of ANY level and ANY position is to handle pressure and aggressive defenders. But learning to do it and to control YOUR speed will change your game forever, and open up countless opportunities. Here's a look into how.

Fantastic stuff, this is exactly how individual workouts with a trainer should be! Trainer playing defense and letting the player explore. Then giving points between reps. Simple cues, asking questions, and making stuff harder (handling pressure without being able to blow by). And of course every now and then flipping defense to offense and cook up a bit 😂.

Anybody that’s seeing this, Father God and care about us, He wakes us up everyday, and also He give us chances every time we wake up, we are sinners that sin daily, and disrespect humans and the Father Himself, His son the Lord died for us. My biggest takeaway that helped me is the ball float. Because what happens a lot of people and younger players is aggressive defenders will make you tense up and feel you have to pound the ball or dribble faster but it’s the opposite you want the ball to float more so anyone out there getting ripped a lot and feel you have a good handle but don’t have the confidence this is the video for you.

Good vid........To all my young players, vs full court pressure: 1- change speed more than change direction, 2- Avoid slow spin (to prevent wrap around steal andr traps) 3. If you do change direction, use back dribble crossover or behind back dribble (always see what's in front) 4. Once you get a step, cut your defender off while dribbling to create a 5 on 4. One of the best moves vs full ct. pressure is a between the leg hesitation. When the defender sits after your hesitation, anticipating a change of direction, you then explode.

you could still use a normal crossover as long as you gonna place the ball at your pocket side again to protect it from the opponent.

@@lejoneason1208 tweens and tight behind the backs while floating work the best. If you're doing a regular cross tip your chest forward, almost feeling as though the ball is bouncing below your knees if that makes any sense. Basically the ball is bouncing as close to your body as possible, while also adding protection with your upper body. Then like he shows pull the ball back into what he called the pocket.

All you need is basic dribble against pressure. Not all those fancy tween, tween, cross, behind the back. Dribble with your hand then protect the ball with your body and your other hand. You have 8 secs to cross the line, and a huuuuuge space to work on. You can go diagonal going right, then when you're almost at the line switch to your left and cross half-court while maintaining the basic dribble while protecting the ball. The goal is to cross the half-court and run the play for the team. Not to be fancy and all of that shit.

I usually love the content on this page but I don’t like how you taught him to be passive on offense. You need to be so talented/aggressive as a PG that people don’t even think to press you. Backing your guy down in the open court is something you do when you’re weak with your handle and afraid. It doesn’t help your team get into a solid offense, runs too much time off the clock, and let’s the defender know you’re afraid to dribble. Traps come from back side etc etc. stay squared up with defender try to avoid crossing over or going behind the back. Between the legs keeps you in a strong athletic protected stance when changing directions or in n out dribble. Only time I’d turn sideways is to step forward and into the defender the reverse pivot into hesi or in n out and go.
@ByAnyMeansBasketball
@ByAnyMeansBasketball Жыл бұрын
All good. Disagreement is OK! I appreciate the support. If you watch any great point guard handle pressure as they’re setting up a ball screen, bring the ball up the court early in a shot clock, etc., this is how it’s done. I don’t think it shows that you’re afraid to dribble - in fact I think it does the opposite. Shows them that you’re so comfortable with the dribble that you can go at your pace and not get sped up
@malibu2.010
@malibu2.010 Жыл бұрын
@@ByAnyMeansBasketball I agree that it’s a great way to set a man up to get caught under the ball screen but the drill being demonstrated here kinda seems like it’s teaching a ball handler to handle full court pressure in this manner. The only guy in the NBA I’ve seen do this was Damon Jones for the cavs when he implemented the scissor kick while backing a defender down in the open court. And the only reason anyone knows his name is because Lebron hit him for the game winner of the eastern conference finals. It’s definitely a skill that a guard needs to have in their bag but relying on it to get the ball down the court isn’t efficient. Your back is turned and you’re more susceptible to being trapped from your backside or less likely to see a man becoming open as your back is turned to half of the court.
