This is my first time here and I NEVER comment! But, I must say, you really showed me something I will use...I'm 78 and been playing guitar for years. I play by myself and sometimes at church...I'm not very good and I've never had lessons... I started looking at the KZbin to maybe learn something and I don't get what most instructions say! You are easy to understand and I do like what you taught...Even I played that and I enjoyed sounding kinda' good! You're new friend---Jimmy

I’ve started to play guitar partly because I’ve always wanted to (but never really got around to it) and partly to exercise my arthritic fingers. These exercises are perfect - they are hard and they are a tad painful, but I know that with practice they will get easier, more comfortable and that I will enjoy practising - thank you so much for this video - you have a new (and grateful) subscriber.

Glad to hear it. Thanks for the comment and pleased you're enjoying it. Be extra careful to use good technique, a light touch, and keep relaxed. It's super important. I cover some of this here in case you've not seen this video -kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZC5pJt_hbtlibc

I’d like to see another version of this that’s not so geared to beginners, same info with much less repetition. There’s another channel ( Active Melody) that teaches more intermediate stuff but he repeats what he says so often I don’t watch him anymore. I will give some of these licks a try , l liked the walk up licks.
@DanThorpeGuitar5 ай бұрын
Good suggestions, thanks. Yeah, an intermediate version of this is something I'll do. (Everyone feel free to let me know if you'd like that - will do it sooner if so). :)

Cool video, thx for posting. Looking at your guitar it looks like you’re missing a high e and b. Guess that’s the camera.
@DanThorpeGuitar4 ай бұрын
Cheers. Yeah they are very thin so probably not showing on the camera as clearly as the other strings. I couldn't live without the B and high E strings! :)

Dan - just found your channel and decided to subscribe and look forward to studying more of your videos. Just one question, though. What strings are you using as they sound lovely and mellow especially the bass strings?

Thanks, Richard. On this guitar, they are D'addario silk and steel strings. Just got back from Cornwall today funnily enough (Bude). :)

@@konarain cheers 😂 I do know what a turnaround is I was meaning if the awesome gentleman could also show us some tricks and ways of how to spice up the 4th and 5th chords (A and B7 if playing in E ) and the turnaround...make it pip out rather than being the usual....thanks for replying though...
