Thank you for making it a point to clarify when the batteries you used are and are not appropriate. There is a lot of incomplete information out there, which is why so many people will default to saying never using those cells. For a comparison, I’m using aftermarket motors in this exact same blaster that pull 26 amps at peak PER MOTOR. They would destroy a battery that uses those cells. Neither option is wrong, you simply need to be sure you have an appropriate battery for your build.

Also, 26 amps is probably at FULL stall. I answered another comment on here regarding this topic. A blaster will probably never see stall unless you are constantly jamming it up and keeping the rev trigger held for an eternity. Otherwise, you can always go with 50% of the stall amp as a safety measure.

Get hold of some 2/3 A sized cells, wire them in series (+ to -), in whatever configuration you need to get it to fit, the run a -ve and +ve lead from the remaining terminals to a deans or xtc 60 connector and cover the whole thing in heatshrink. Oh, and rewire the blaster while you're at it, and replace the rev switch. This might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4LLY5yifpaja7s.

Head to your local hobby store that carries RC cars and drones and find a 7.2 volt NIMH battery pack. They will fit in a stryfe battery tray far easier than a 9.6 and still give you better performance than alkalines on stock motors. I mostly use NIMH packs because they require far less care than LiPo and stock motors don’t need the extra current draw.

My Spectrum will hit like 110fps with those and my new thunderbolt ohhhhh my goodnesssssss!!!! Yessss I'm like you I like half darts but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my long darts too!

Just to say; love the idea! But, and I'm prepared to be wrong about this; you will burn those stock switches out on 3s, eventually. AND... a stock Nerf motor draws 5 amps at stall, 7.5 amps at 7.4 volts and nearly 10 amps at 11.1. So, 20 amp current draw at stall......I hope those Lions are stable enough to cope with being overdrawn every time you rev! 😁(Personally, I'd go for 2/3 A sized nimh cells, those little things are almost bulletproof).

Stall current is measured when a motor is at a complete halt with current still being applied to it. You know how many times that happens on a blaster? Zero. Unless you’re trying to shove an ultra dart through your elite wheels, your motors will almost always be at 95-100% free spin. The amp-draw values I stated in the video account for up to 50% stall just to allow for some extreme margin of error (I know some hobbyists like running some pretty crazy crush). I think exactly like you. My favorite cells to play with are NiMH just because of the carefree nature of their handling and operation (Just watch my Hyper Mach-100 repair video). There’s no denying however, the power and potential of Li-Ion if you’re responsible, careful, and most important of all using common sense! Having said that, I may have a new project involving NiMH very soon. Thanks for the input!

Also to add to this, I have at least 13 blasters I play with often that have over 9.6v power supplies and till this day, have not had to swap switches on any of them. Not saying stock is the way to go, but I personally haven’t had any issues with them.

@@notnuffnerf Ah. Well, I'm a bit paranoid about ANYTHING wiht the word "lipo" in it! (We just had a rash of e-bike fires whilst charging here in the UK), so I do tend to ere on the side of ultra cautious!

@@notnuffnerf Well, that's good to hear. I've burned out more than a few myself, years ago, running just 6 nimh. Maybee the switches got better? To be fair, unless it's a full auto build, I tend to use mosfets these days, just to avoid having to muck about seating the new switches! (I'm lazy!)
